Music Commercial Hip Hop Thread

I will say, Vol 2 is one of my least favorite albums, but hearing this I now understand Jay Z's evolution after Reasonable Doubt.

Yeah. I definitely preferred Vol 1 - but this just supports my theory that Ready to die is quite possibly the most influential Hip Hop album of all time ( definitely up there with Paid in full and 'em).

Puffy (through BIG) created the perfect formula which inspired 90% of the game, and changed the whole dynamic forever.

I agree. No Way Out is extremely underrated as well.

This is out. Absolute banger IMO.

"Church in these streets" is a pretty apt name for that album.

You can really see/feel the growth in Jeezy's music.

loving the album, been a jeezy fan since come shop with me, stand outs on the album for me are god, church in these streets, new clothes, scared of the dark, no other way and j bo

loving new pusha too, hopefully king push will be a step up from my name, loved that album too

It's one of my GOAT concept albums. Top 5 in my 00s list (no specific rank).

The album's like a movie. Everything is perfect.

I feel like we're in need of an album review type thread.....

......or something in that regard.

Glad you 2 agree. I have really come to appreciate how fecking great that album is lately. Would love if Ace would release something similar to that. Has he got any plans to release something new?

He was on NPR's Microphone Check (a podcast series) a few months ago. The interview was very good; I recommend listening to it. You may find some more information regarding his recent projects.

I don't know if he falls under the commercial rap category but I was just listening to some of the old music I loved and I noticed I still love Lupe Fiasco's songs, for me he is the best out there right now along with Kendrick.

Free TC has confirmed my suspicions that TY dolla $ign is in fact this generation's R.Kelly. Obviously not as talented, but sonically and content wise.
