Music Commercial Hip Hop Thread

Will it drop on Google Play Music tomorrow?

I'm excited as well, huge expectations for it.

If it's worse than Yeezus then Kanye go and kill himself. It's a great shame because he's been one of my absolute favs but Christ, after all the shit he's made in recent years I couldn't give a feck for this crap, will check it only due to sentiment.

A bit full on wanting him to kill himself if his music isn't to your taste.

It's all evolution and pushing the boundaries of contemporary hip-hop. I personally think the album will have a mesh of melodies and sonics. 'Real Friends' vibes are very Late Registration-Graduation, but then we've already heard the snippets of something like Wolves which sounds much less conventional and more experimental.

I completely agree with your point; I personally found Yeezus to be absolute shite but I'm very excited for this; it seems he's reached the eclipse of his rap career. Either he ruins a phenomenal career with two stinkers as his last albums or he goes out on a high.

Good song, he's still not gonna release an album though.

The video clip of him in the back of the car having a go at Kendrick and 50 Cent is weird.

He dissed them both again in this song as well. I hope this is just to build hype for some release, but you can't expect anything with him.

"'Because they told me that the Rothschilds rule the world / So I went over to England like a Black God and got me one"

It still blows my mind how Jay Electronica went from the Magnolia Projects to having an affair with a Rothschild. His life story is amazing, but he is also a very, very weird man from all accounts.

This sample. I remembered it being used although slowed on Common's 'Rewind that' from Nobody's smilling. I think it was the only track that I really liked there so it's nice to hear it refreshed on Tra'es track. Wondering when J's dropping something new.

"But this February bet shit get scary when I feck around and drop..."

J.Cole gunna drop something this month?

So what are the impressions of Life of Pablo? I think its brilliant! Not a single filler track on this for me

Basically play the following tracks only (on loop):
Wolves - OG version
Fade
Facts - Charlie Heat version
Waves
Real Friends

That sequence of tracks is amazing. Waves, FML, Real friends and Wolves. Highlights is a good one as well. No more parties in LA is a lyrical high akin to something on College dropout

The first three tracks are amazing, having said that I don't think there's a single track on the entire album I'd skip. Really like 30 Hours, Real Friends, No More Parties in LA and Freestyle 4 too

Does anybody else miss Bone Thugs n Harmony? I very rarely, if ever, see them get mentioned on here. How does everyone rate them?

It sort of feels like an era really is drawing to a close in hip hop for me right now. A lot of rappers that I grew up listening to, you just don't hear about them any more. Then the likes of Eminem and Nas aren't as active. Heck, even people like Twista and Chamillionaire seem to have fallen off the face of the earth. Not to mention most of Wu Tang etc. (Just a few examples off the top of my head).

I haven't actively looked into what all these guys have been upto, so they could still be active. But they never seem to get mentioned anywhere.

Just found out that Troy from Community is actually a rapper called Childish Gambino, and he seems pretty good too.

Bone still make music, but they are as always a mess of a group. Their first albums are classics for me though.
Twista is also still making music, Cham i dont know. Wu tang actually got some fuss around them when they made that "only one copy album" and i am pretty sure a new album from them would do ok now.

Its a new era now, not only sonicly and lyricsvise, but its not many labels who would back artists like Twista ect because of the drop in albums sales.

Still, if you were into Twista and Bone (like my self) i guess you also liked Tech N9ne and he sells better than ever.
