Music Commercial Hip Hop Thread

Pfft, I bet none of you were listening to UK Hip Hop when it was Skinnyman, Jehst, Taskforce et al. But now it’s all trendy and in the charts everyone’s here for it. Glory hunters

Council Estate of Mind was mine and my mates whole Autumn/Winter 2004. Used to love the fact he was born in Leeds Chapeltown which was just over the way from us.

I actually saw him in Leeds when that came out, at the Cockpit. Went backstage cos I knew the hype man and he was just sat there with 3 very sketchy looking girls writhing on him while he billed a spliff. Didn’t say a word to us and then went to sleep.

Anyone been listening to the Courtney Bell album? Hadn't heard of him before but really enjoying it. Shades of Kendrick (not at k dot's level obviously) - conscious and an impressive rhymer

Just gave Vince Staples new album a listen, I like it so far.

I’ve just seen this (no idea how it took me nearly 30 years). I think this might be Tupac’s greatest ever..

Okay, so, a couple of ones here.

Firstly, LL's first track from his Q-Tip produced forthcoming album has dropped. Features Rick Ross and Fat Joe. The man hasn't lost a step.

Secondly, LL and Em's Murdergram Duex got leaked (albeit in its unfinished state), but was cleaned up nicely. Think it's on LL's upcoming Force album, but could be a track on Death of Slim Shady.

Shall check these out, thanks!

Irrelevant but a typo on the album thumbnail - Duex for Deux. Proofread ffs people!!

can‘t see the vid - which one is it? Somehow the almighty algorithm dropped his bootcampclikk collabo „Yawz Tight“ on me yesterday which I didn‘t know about. Very nice track with a great beat by Daz.

It’s Made N****s

They are just messing about with a camera on a 360 degree pivot. But Pac’s energy is unreal, coupled with all of the Outlawz having some great lines.

Finally the One Nation stuff is coming out. Been a huge Boot Camp Clik fan since Black Moon's Enta Da Stage.

Still rotating those two late nineties OGC albums every now and then.

Em's Tobey dropped. All Michigan features on this and some dope verses.

Love this. That's two dubs with the singles.. Houdini was a heck of a nostalgic trip.

Side note: Took me a second to distinguish between Sean and Babytron (first time hearing him).

They work really well together. Last couple of projects have been good. Though this is apparently their final collab :(

Didn't realise they released another one. Crooked is one of my favourites when it comes to just rapping

Is this technically the 2nd single for the new album? If so, absolutely terrible choice  doesn't even feel like it's Eminem's song

Not sure how true but a few people were saying that it was originally a Big Sean song featuring Baby Tron, which Em then took and added his verse to hence why it doesn't sound like it was made for Em.

I heard he was forced on the song because Big Sean & Baby Tron share the same manager who apparently has tapes of Eminem at one of P Diddy's infamous parties and is using them to extort him through melodic means. Also not sure how true it is.

He's giving shine to two Michigan talents who would benefit from the exposure of featuring on a main single release.

It's giving back.
At the expense of decent music, sure. And Big Sean has had more than enough exposure in the last decade. If anything he's probably had too much given his lack of talent.

Has anyone had a victory lap as great as Kendrick has had?

I never really got into Kendrick too much.

m.A.A.d City was really the only song of his that blew me away to make it into my regular rotation on Spotify.

But I have to say, Not Like Us is a 10/10. Best hip hop song I've ever in the last decade or more I would say.

So I think I need to listen to his other work some more. Would be interested to get recommendations on some of his better songs.
