College Football 2009

Any 'Bama fans on the Cafe? I've been following them since the early nineties. Nice to see them contending for another Championship again.

I hope that get shafted in the SEC Title game again, can't stand Saban

I hope UT lose because they will just the shit smacked out of them v Florida in the national title game

A game of mistakes, miscues, penalties and total defense. Texas up 16-13 late in the 4th quarter. Bradford knocked out in the first quarter. Landry just threw an interception after McCoy did the same. Granted Landry's was under-thrown where as McCoy's was a bad route by a freshman receiver.

BTW, at Ohio State.

Keep turning the ball over reckon they will win it though

Florida down 20-13 midway through the 4th at the Swamp

That was a bogus call right there. The defender played that perfectly. Never a PI. Home call.

Then a second call that was bogus. The Florida OL was blocking the Arkansas DL. Personal foul because the DL knocked the OL down when the OL made contact on him. Never a PF. Officials are blowing this.

I just watched Cal Poly beat Southern Utah 24-23 when Southern Utah just scored what should have been a game tying touchdown with 9 seconds left and missed the extra point.

That's Division I-AA football for you.

Quality, that's hilarious

What's even more hilarious is that missed extra points are a recurring thing with our school.

Last year we would have beaten Wisconsin, except we missed two extra points and a few field goals in regulation, so we went to overtime. We got the ball first and then scored a touchdown, but missed the extra point again. Wisconsin drove down the field and made their extra point to win by one. Probably the most heartbreaking loss in team history.

Aside from maybe our homecoming game a few years ago when we gave up a three touchdown lead in the fourth quarter and then lost when the other team coincidentally elected not to kick the extra point and got the two point conversion to win by one.

Actually today's game was our homecoming game and Southern Utah had actually lined up for the two point conversion and decided to kick the extra point instead.

Moral of the story: In I-AA/FCS football, PATs are for losers. Always go for two.

That's how Florida lost to Ole Miss last season, if memory serves me.

I've never understood how the extra point came to be. The whole point is to score six points so why do you get an extra point attempt. Does it come from rugby union rules?

Alabama gets #1 on the AP (Rightfully) But Florida gets #1 on the BSC

Yes, the BSC... Bullshit Charts

I hate Alabama solely because I hate Saban so I have no problem with this, one thing is sure is that they will have their chance v Florida

Yeah sounds like something about a war movie or something

Saban will bolt in a couple years when the NFL or Notre Dame or Florida State or USC come calling (especially if Carroll ever goes back to the NFL which he may well do at some point, perhaps if the Jags end up in LA). Saban is always thinking the grass is greener. Yeah Alabama is a storried program and he's like a demi-God there, but eventually the tide will turn again and after a couple 9-3 seasons the grass will look really green elsewhere. Or he could win a championship and get bored.

Nice pun.

Yeah I could see him popping up at Notre Dame, in all honesty he'd be a great pickup for them if he ever came.

I think the same about Carroll, the only way he would go back to NFL is if a team comes to Los Angeles

Damn Miami  Turnovers killed us. I don't know how the hell Spiller escaped a FL university. Great game though.

Bama eeks through with a great block. And somehow ND won.

Alabama very fortunate (conspiracy enthusiasts will love this) that Cody wasn't called for taking his helmet off while the blocked kick was still a live ball. By rule that's a fifteen yard penalty and another attempt for the offense since the game cannot end on a defensive penalty. In a way I'm glad a flag wasn't thrown but at the same time the rule is the rule and I just wonder if roles were reversed would Alabama have received a lifeline.

That would have been class if they would have lost because of it

Woooooaahhh

Back the feck up...

schoolkids playing sport is a national event...

wtf... its like televising youth team games... or school sports days :wenger:

The Michigan QB handed that game on a platter.

At least Ohio State won't be playing in the national title game and getting embarrassed. Would love to see them play Cincinnati or TCU but that won't happen as the Rose Bowl will pick the PAC-10 champion (boring).

Stop hating. :D But really, yeah I wouldn't want to face Florida, Texas or Alabame in the title game, not with Pryor running around in circles with the ball like a spastic. Still think we did well this season, although there's room for improvement.

Never.

Ohio State & Michigan is like, life & death

Campus yesterday was hell, and the game wasn't even on campus! Never seen anything like it, just carnage.
