College Basketball 12/13

Coaches and sports writers are fecking idiots. They really think Gonzaga would have less than 4 losses if they were in the big ten?

They lost to two ranked teams, and beat two ranked teams. That's it, and none of them are teams that have been in the top 10. Pathetic.

Thankfully the selection committee weights strength of schedule much more than the polls do, I wouldn't be surprised if they came in as a 2 or 3 seed.

They'll be a 1 or 2 seed because they won't lose again. There's a good chance the other top 8 teams could lose before selection day(actually, most of them will lose again). Who does Gonzaga have to play from here out? A bunch of West Coast scrubs.

If they're the #1 out west, which I expect them to be, the #2 seed there has it made. Also, the weakest 1 seed(if Gonzaga drops to a 2) will be set out west.

Gonzaga is a top 10 team, but they aren't a top 4 team at the moment. They wouldn't be in the top 10 if they played in the B1G, ACC, or Big East.

The best teams in the country are: Indiana, Duke, Michigan, Michigan State, Miami, Louisville, Kansas, and Florida. All should be seeded higher than Gonzaga but won't be. I'm eager to see how Ryan "The White Raven" Kelly performs tomorrow and Saturday. If Duke plays well in both games, look out.

Who's your final 4? Assume Duke is in it? Who's your worst match-up nightmare?

I don't have one until I see how Duke plays tonight and Saturday. If the rest of the team is still useless, Duke will go out early. Ryan won't drop 36 every game. The other 4 need to get used to him being back in the lineup. If they get back in the groove over the next two games and the ACC Tournament, then yes, they'll be in my Final Four.

Looked good last night against VT, but everyone looks good against them. Our offense is much more efficient with Ryan Kelly on the floor. Just needs to get in better shape. Our defense needs to get back to what it was before he got hurt.

My god we were terrible against OSU. I think we were way too amped up. I just hope we learn from that game and find 'the zone' in this next one, which is just as big, @ Michigan.

I suspect several things:

1) Two key players (Zeller and VO) were trying too hard .. for the occasion since it's seniors night and the chances are that they wont be there next year. Seems to be less passing and more attempts at dribble penetration than before.
2) We dont play well against bangers.
3) We have not been shooting well the past few games; hopefully its just a funk and now a downward spiral.

We won! We won, we won, we won, we won, we won, we won, we won!

First outright Big Ten title since 1993!

They're going to hang a separate banner in Assembly Hall for this Big Ten title, as was done for only one other Indiana Big Ten title, from 1983. This is being done in honor of what this group of players has done to restore the tradition and excellence of our program, and all they went through to get there.

-_- I'm sure everyone will get free T-shirts and DVDs at IU.

I'd give one to you, I think it's fair to say our two teams are extremely close in ability. I'd much, much rather face Gonzaga than Michigan, that's for sure!

The tournament is bitch, Goo. I won't underestimate the Zags or any team for that matter. They have won 31 games this season, all power to them and their number 1 ranking.

We'll have to see how we two match up on neutral venue. That is, if we can take care of them pesky Badgers.

The selection committee are a bunch of dipshits. The West is a cakewalk. The Midwest is a bitch.

Still, Duke is 3-1 against the top two lines.

Yeah, Duke's route to Atlanta does look strenuous. Compare that to Ohio State's run. It's March Madness and upsets do happen, but anything less than an elite 8 finish for OSU would be a disappointment IMO.

I'll fill my bracket tomorrow.

If Duke makes 25% or better from 3, we're solid. Duke can beat all of the teams in its bracket, but they have to play better than they did against Maryland.

That is if we don't lose to fecking Albany first.

I've got a final four of Indiana, Michigan State, Ohio State and Georgetown. But I'm having a hard time picking out upsets in the first round, I know there will be more than I guessed.

Here's my go at a top 25:

1. Indiana 27-6
2. Miami 27-6
3. Ohio State 26-7
4. Georgetown 25-6
5. Duke 27-5
6. Louisville 29-5
7. Kansas 29-5
8. Michigan State 25-8
9. Michigan 26-7
10. Saint Louis 27-6
11. Florida 26-7
12. Wisconsin 23-11
13. Kansas State 27-7
14. Marquette 23-8
15. Syracuse 26-9
16. Gonzaga 31-2
17. Oklahoma State 24-8
18. Arizona 25-7
19. Pittsbury 24-8
20. New Mexico 19-5
21. Memphis 20-4
22. VCU 26-8
23. UNC 22-9
24. UCLA 25-9
25. Butler 26-8

Ok, so I started watching college basketball now for the first time. I saw 7-8 games in the conference tournaments and I really enjoyed it, far more entertaining than the NBA regular season and I'm excited about the NCAA tournament. I was very impressed by Miami and Larkin.

My first observation from what I've seen so far is that defence seems far more tougher in College basketball and the players are allowed to play tough unlike the NBA, it looks really old school. I saw a game where Louisville played and their full-court pressure was absolutely insane, reminiscent of the 90s Bulls, was beautiful to see.

No I've only seen teams from the ACC and the Big East so far. I'll keep a look out for them.

My 2nd observation so far from the small amount of college basketball I've seen is that the game is very guard-orientated just like the NBA with lots of players jacking up three's. Would really like to see more teams these days setting up a triangle offense with players who know how to post up and play with their back to the basket. It creates so much more options in the halfcourt offense.

What is this 'back to the basket' and 'post up' you speak of? They seem vaguely familiar, like a story someone told me as a child, and yet as distant and maligned as an oligarch.
