College Basketball 12/13

Hmm, so they are.

These are without fee prices, of course, so add a bit for that.

Cheapest single/double (each):

Minnesota $79/$142
Penn State $40/$91
Michigan $300/$350
Wisconsin $65/$80
Michigan State $175/$240
Ohio State $96/$190
Nebraska $40/$100
Purdue $63/$250
Iowa $90/$150

These seem like (mostly) sane prices to me, at least.

So, how do these prices compare to getting a United ticket back when they were hard to get? Ebay have the following prices for the cheapest tickets available to the Indiana big ten home games:

Minnesota $225
Wisconsin $144
Michigan State $285
Penn State $162
Michigan $707
Nebraska $85
Iowa $374
Purdue $313
Ohio State $194

That's ridiculous.

I get alumni discounts of 30%. Not that I attend many games anyway.

Edit: That excludes football and basketball games. As you were.

I'm headed to the Duke game tonight. Tickets were free, but I've got connections. ;)

Getting on the season ticket list at Duke is $7k/year.

Wow. I know to get any kind of good seat at IU you have to pay a $10,000 yearly 'contribution', but I don't think that applies to all season tickets.

IU also has the largest student section in the country, making it harder for everyone else to get in.

It's free for students though right? That is a seriously good deal.

They are free free in as much as they can be when you're paying that much for school. They aren't any extra cost on top of school. You can go to any sporting event, except certain NCAA tournament events (because they refuse to allow free student entry) like lax, for free. You just use your id card.

I'm certainly quite nervous about Michigan coming to Assembly Hall on Saturday, I wouldn't want to put money on Indiana winning. I don't think we've put together a complete game yet this season, we're outscoring opponents in the first halves and losing in second halves, on average.

Coming into tonight, I thought Florida was going to win it all. Now that the rules have been changed to allow Cody Zeller to push aside opposing players, I have to think that makes Indiana the favorite.

Fixed that for you.

fecking A!

That didn't last long, huh? :( We'll get you bitches on March 10 and get our ranking back. :)

I had set the alarm to watch the game but slept through it. A loss in Bloomington is not the worst. The Hoosiers were one of the toughest game on the schedule. We shouldn't fall too far in the rankings. The Jayhawks also lost to Oklahoma.

Important to win the next game, which is at home, against the shitty Buckeyes and then push on from there. I would like to go into the tournament as a number 1 seed, if not the overall number 1.

What a crazy season this has been so far, everyone in the top 5 or so is fighting to lose to unranked opponents. Now Miami is ranked 8th, coming from complete unranked pre-season obscurity into the elite class. Meanwhile Arizona loses to Oregon, Lousiville loses to everyone, Florida loses to Arkansas, and on and on.

Seems a very open field, lots of teams could win the tournament this year.

Crazy is right. The last five weeks has had 5 number 1 teams and all of them have lost. Hoosiers have two tough ones against the Illini and Buckeyes on the road next. Would be interesting to see if they can keep hold of the ranking. We had a scare today and the Gators lost. We might be getting our ranking back, Goo..:smirk:

Can't wait for the tournament. Should be as exciting as always. I don't think Michigan is going to win it, but never say never.

What a meltdown. No one had any ability to take the game by the scruff and just get a bucket. Reminded me of our loss at Nebraska last season, looked like winning the game for 36 minutes, by a big score. Looked like we were playing blindfolded for the last 4.

Champaign is a tough place to go, man. They are not having the best of seasons but you can count them to show up at home against quality teams. Their crowd is awesome and creates a lot of noise. I have watched games at Assembly hall and it's an intimidating atmosphere for opposing teams.

If we take care of the bagders on Saturday, we should move back to number 1.

Come on!

feckin' Badgers, huh?

They are some annoying bastards. I hope IU gets them in the Big Ten Tournament, so we can get some revenge. But I suppose I should be hoping we don't see them again until next year.

It was actually a decent game, I was glad to see UNC at least gave them a scare.

I usually hate UNC more, but they're no threat this year, so Duke passes them, temporarily.

Will Kenfecky be the Chelski of roundball? Champions one year and dumped out the Big Show the next year.

What a game!!! First win for IU in East Lansing since 1991!!

The refs tried their best to give the game to State, but we would not be denied!

Great composure. Maintained their cool throughout and just kept on punching back and not forcing things.

feck college basketball. ESPN America is gone to shit now there's no college football as well as the baseball still being away. 24/7 college basketball or some shit hockey that's not even the NHL.

So, Indiana haven't lost to a ranked team (at the time we played them) all season.

On the down side, we've lost to 4 un-ranked teams. Though Butler, Illinois and Minnesota have all been in the top 10 this season, and Wisconsin is currently ranked 16/17.

The idea that Gonzaga is better is a joke, though. The Zags have played 3 ranked teams all season, and lost 2 of those. Their win @ Oklahoma St. (#22 when they played them, currently 15/18) by 1 point is decent enough. Losing to the now unranked Illinois at home wasn't very impressive, though they certainly should have beaten Butler.

Sure, they've beaten the rest of the teams they've faced, but they're all terrible.

HEYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO just got home. great night. (hopefully I passs my midterm tomorrow)

Craziness...that is why College basketball is so awesome. Can't wait for the tournament!

Not sure what the issue is -- Minn banged up IU to win esp in the interior but the Spartans are pretty physical team too. So we can go physical is needed but why Butler, Wisc, Minn?

Crean has never beaten Wisconsin, they seem to have our number. We definitely over-pursued the basketball in that one, and they are a great passing team.

But with Butler and Minnesota we definitely didn't respond to the physical play being allowed by the refs. We're not the most physical team, especially our bigs in Zeller and Watford. We were hoping Perea could provide that physical presence off the bench, but that hasn't happened. Elston also has failed to provide a physical spark off the bench.

And of course Minnesota has only lost twice at home all year, and the Butler game was in Indianapolis, basically a home game for them.

Ryan Kelly returns to the team and scores a scant 36 points in his first game since January 8th to beat Miami.

Insane.
