Club Sale | It’s done!

No because the Qatar bid is pretty much a state bid which is the exact same ownership as PSG.
While PSG are not the model of an ideal club, should be noted RM were a worse example between 2004 ish until Mourinho as they didn’t get past the last 16 of CL during those years.

But PSG are more often than not, in the CL QF or SF, which is pretty much where most English clubs expect to be and are happy being.

Does anyone know what happens next?

We know that the Qatari and Ineos bids will both be rejected. What then?

First of all no one knows what the bids really are. Maybe Qatar/INEOS/Loony guy with the app had hit the jackpot.

a- all bids are rejected. A next round of negotiations occur were all owners are given the chance to up their bid
b- all bids are rejected however Raine decide that two bids are good enough to go into an exclusivity period. The rest are out of the race
c- one bid is accepted. The owner is taken to an exclusivity period. The rest are out of the race
d- The Glazers claim that the club is not for sale. It might accept a bid for a minority bid

Qatar bought PSG for different reasons and had different motivations for buying them.
And yet just recently we heard Al-Khelaifi saying “We took the club at €70m and today it is more than €4bn euros. It’s a good project.” So like I said, maybe it’s not a primary motivation but these are businessmen, and they are not stupid and will not throw their money away.

It’s not confirmed. I just said we all know. Like we all know that De Gea will play vs Newcastle even though it’s not confirmed yet

If you need a source, Keegan seems to have been a good one for Qatars actions in all this and he seems resigned to the bid not being enough

Thanks for the detailed response. Might get some clarity this week

Having just watched Kaveh Solhekol's latest analysis on Sky Sports News, it seems fairly certain that there's now three possible outcomes:
  • The Glazers sell the club in full to either Qatar or INEOS
  • The Glazers accept a part ownership/financing option from an American investment group
  • No transaction of any kind takes place

My mistake. I somehow thought they got to the QF more than not.

To be fair, they somehow end up playing a tournament favorite early with United being the exception. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern and United are the teams they lost to in the round of 16.

Thanks. It would be one of them eventually but what’s he saying exactly, that it will be one of them next? (Ie no third round of bids?)

I expect they'll run us like clowns exactly the same as they run Clown FC over in France.
Winning league titles near enough every year? Yes please. That's surely better than Jimbo/INEOS's record of running Nice or Lausanne.

True

So this then means the Glazers would have to reinvest that money back into the club, something that they're never done before.

But then even if they do, what would be the benefit to Elliot? How do they realise their investment back?

If the Glazers are sticking around then it is in their interest (and Elliott's) if the club grows in value. The Glazers won't get the money from Elliott, without giving up some equity. They can't upgrade Old Trafford, without giving up some equity. The Glazers and Elliott will hope to make their money back (and then some) when they eventually exit.

Winning French leagues by having the biggest wage bill ever recorded at a football club. Always at 6-10 times more then their closest rival and 1.4bn in transfer fees.
If you think that strategy will work in a league with Abu Dhabi and Saudi, as well as the traditional big clubs and the loon at Chelsea, think again.
Such reckless spending here with no semblance of a plan would put us in a terrible position.

Meanwhile Nice finished 5th last season, with the 5th highest wage bill. Only one side is massively outspending their league position.

Another round of bidding seems likely if the full takeover bids are similarly valued and within 10-15% of the Glazers' asking price (we don't know if they are).

So there's no reports. Keegan doesn't say Qataris are resigned to it not going through. He doesn't even say its pessimistic.

Operating like PSG do in the Premier League would result in a string of 5th and 6th place finishes with the odd 2nd place, miles and miles off the Champions.

Chelsea this year innit?

That’s how haphazardly throwing money around works in the Prem. This shit aint ligue 1 where you can outspend everyone 10 fold on transfers and wages.

I suppose if we operated like Nice, we'd end up in the relegation spots. This is all a foolhardy comparison in all honesty.

There are legitimate arguments for being against the Qatari or SJR bids, but what happened in the Ligue 1 isn't the main reason for me.
