But would SAF and EtH still be BFFs if SJR was SJ's HBK?
Whether it’s SJR or SJHAT, SAF and ETH must be happy that AG, JG and GF are gone unless GF and RG sold it to TZ or EIM. That would mean no FDJ or HK or VO but EMCM, JWP, KWP.

This is hard to imagine. Selling a minority stake to Elliot in order to invest in the club is counter to the last 18 years. That would be the same as the Glazers putting their own money into the club. Either Elliot gives them a loan, which the Glazera put into the club, or Elliot gets a stake, which reduces the Glazers' stake.

The Glazers have 69% and want 6 billion, meaning they are valuing the club at about 8.7bn total.

They're only being offered 5bn for their 69%.

Let's say they take 1bn from Elliot for 19%, keeping 50% for themselves.

In order for the Glazers to get 6bn by owning 50% of the shares, the club would need to be valued at 12 billion.

That's a 38% increase in value that they would need to achieve in order to get 6bn from a future sale.
i think most likely they’ll be bidding for the glazers not named Joel & Avram shares, but will be done in a way where Avran and Joel remain majority. I don’t know tbh it’s a deal that doesn’t make sense.

Why would Elliot give a $1-2b loan for a company worth 5-6b? They’d much rather have the stake, it also gives a better guarantee.

It's definitely more than 3. And SJH would be more appropriate.

But if we want to get pedantic then most people have 3-4 names if you include their middle names.

The point of my tongue in cheek post was that Sheikh Jassim is being shortened to SJ for no apparent reason.

No ones ever called Sir Alex, SA or Erik Ten ET for example.
 I get your point. It’s true. I think it does depend on how “cool” the abbreviation sounds. Most Dutch ones are pretty cool sounding and for Brits it’s usually reserved for the knighted. With Jassim no one wants to butcher the name:lol:

Before knighthood SAF would be plain AF

Yep that's probably what it is.

Because he is a man of integrity and that's where the desert is.

Ever seen a harem in Sidcup?
Never been to Sidcup but if I had a harem I'd build it a bit closer than a 1000 miles from where I live

This is just regurgitated crap (not having a go at you, you're just posting news so thanks for that).

These journos have their editors telling them to pump out these stories to generate clicks for as long as possible as they know they'll have to go back to reporting on 'normal' football news when this sale goes through.

I've been aboard the Qatar train this entire time but that Finnish guy being an ex player and ex chairman could be promising. Having actual football people at the top of the chain is a good thing. Feck a minority stake though. We need the Glazers gone.

That Mail article has nothing at all in it. In fact, it’s probably good news. It basically says Avram is the only one who might want to keep United, and even Joel is open to selling it.

it’s surprising Avram’s the one hellbent on keeping Utd, I always thought it was Joel who was more interested in remaining in charge. We really need the rest of them to make that creature see sense and cash in now.

There’s no endgame to a partial sale for them is there. If they raise a billion it’s just more debt they’ll have to pay back, the pot is empty there’s no money left in the club it will all need to go on facilities and the squad anyway

Avram is said to be the only family member who actually likes watching football and is invested in United's success. The rest of them are only in it for the money.

fecking hell man, how greedy can you get? It's clear that the Glazers have been completely incompetent at running the business. They topped out on the value, it's a record sale for any sports club ever.

Surely you can't believe in yourself so much after so many failures that you can somehow turn this around, make the club better than what it is and pocket a premium over 5b.

To me the downside risk is much much higher than the upside potential. Couple of bad results, Spurs getting Nagelsmann, getting into a dogfight for 4th and things look really bad.

This is misguided.

All of our ex players who are 'football people' championed the appointment of Ole which set us back years. Neville, Ferdinand, Scholes, Keane etc.

Give me non ex players who have achieved proven results at other clubs over 'football people' all day long.

the other candidates don’t have proven results though

Ineos have just proven to be shite and Jassim has no experience at all

He’s just using it for publicity.

The other four Glazer siblings, Bryan, Kevin, Edward and Darcie are rumoured to be in favour of selling Manchester United at a big profit, but not necessarily for as much as £6bn.

A big profit? A profit on what exactly?

These cnuts haven't put a penny into United, they could sell United for £600 quid and make a big profit.

Wankers
