Do we think that after this, we will start to get a good idea on who the preferred bidder is?

Despite all the talk of 8 bidders, I can only see it being Ineos or the Sheikh. Or the Glazers if it all falls through, but the Glazers will absolutely NOT refinance as they've never given United a penny before and they won't start now suddenly pumping billions in.

Not sure of the source or why euros are involved

Foot Mercato journalists are classed as Tier 4 sources(lowest reliability) and banned in the transfer forums, known for being highly speculative.

Very much doubt they have a scooby doo about the latest bid.

I'd love to know where these bids have come from. His imagination?
Was widely reported the other day from a top source that we have 4 parties (only 2 public) interested in a full takeover whilst there are 4 hedge funds who want to bank roll the glazers.

Qatar have stated that they would overpay, if this new bid is correct then they have not overpaid as yet, can definitely see them raising their offer further if need be.

Imagine clubs protesting that Qatari ownership would make us too financially dominant.

Let’s remove ALL of these BS owners then, including Qataris, and guess who will still be the most financially dominant?

It seems what clubs want is for some to be able to have excessive backers, but United to be unable to in order to level things out.

Surely they can work on two deals at a time?

Probably can at lower levels of the deal but for this level of visibility and importance and selling WWE Id imagine Raine want their absolute best top star senior people on it (understandably).

I don't believe there is actually that many bids for a takeover - several will just be financial institutions offering backing for the Glazers to stay in place

The Glazers will obviously want to make out there is several interested parties to try and create a bidding war

Yeah that's how I see it as well. They want as much money out of Jassim as possible. I think Ratcliffe knows he can't compete. And last week both sets of bidders were happy Glazers were committed to a full sale. I expect this to be concluded swiftly.

This is it and it is also why I want Qatar money.

It's an extension of the narrative that we get too many penalties, too many favourable decisions from refs and too much luck. It's always United that somehow should be held to a higher standard while Man City keep splashing cash on £60/70m players which is now going onto 100m.

And it's fine for them but not for an actual behemoth such as us. What a load of bollocks.

"using the emotional appeal"
Isn't that the exact reason you prefer the Qatari bid? To satiate your emotional desires?
Not really. Think you’re not understanding “emotional appeal” and in what regards. Ratcliffe always skirts around things which can be good eg community spirit but can quickly become very exclusive and divisive.

Is there credibility to this or was it just Miguel Delaney throwing more toys out of his pram?

There is a difference between Ratcliffe saying it directly to the journos and Jassim's PR company leaking things into the press.

Deniablity.

Also, I don't see Ratcliffe's purpose in doing this interview right after the very high-profile meeting last week. If anything Ratcliffe and his team should be busy getting down to crunching out numbers to make the deal work.
Besides the hi-vis meeting, it is odd that he brought his two other partners into the meeting last week -- it seems like he has to convenience them of the potential of the project.
At this stage of the process, when you need to give a first official firm bid, you need the domain knowledge folks (financial and legal) involved who can do the due diligence and analyse to eventually come out with a bid. Not the C-suite folks who aren't the number crunchers.

Thus the cynicism.

While anything's possible Ratcliffe has always struck me as the type that likes the attention and speaking to the press, giving interviews etc. While on the other hand Jassim as far as I'm aware has never spoken to the press directly and was relatively unknown until a few weeks ago. So one speaking directly and the other briefing journalists in the press to speak for him makes sense.

I

Wouldn't surprise me at all if Ratcliffe makes a deal with the likes of Elliot or Ares to get him over the line. It would mean the final destruction of the club.

Thats not how you treat a 'community asset'. I assume that he would be aware of that.

Maybe. I just don't see the obvious gain in terms of helping close the deal. Why create potential conflicts by going to the Press?

Here's the thing - I don't believe in this "community asset run by local lad with the bestest intentions" narrative for a split second. If he is willing to make such a deal, his intentions for the club are clear. And they have nothing to do with the club's best interests.

That being said, it's still a hypothetical scenario, so we will see.

Wonder if Ratcliff coming in person helped with his "good impressions"

Just imagine if SJR partnered alongside an ME state? Would be interesting to read the views from some on here! :wenger::devil:
