You all think you can win this argument but @Wumminator is more important to United than any of you will ever be. Here he is watching United with his best pal explaining how local he is and why it matters.

Basically, imo, the deal has been agreed with Jassim. SJR, or any other bidder, will have to meet that offer. If not, Jassim will succeed.

Main thing, Glazers will be gone.

So what happens tomorrow when the reports of SJR having positive talks start appearing?

Agreed. Thread has been unreadable all day which is a shame because its seemingly been an important one.
I’m going to start having to give some temp bans out I think. Or ghost a few who won’t let it go.
It's not rocket science the thread gained 12+ pages over night with Wumminator at the forefront of crap being posted. He jumps in causes chaos with some outrageous posts and then leaves. Takes the thread 24hours to get back to normal I don't know why he's still allowed in here.

Caf goes into meltdown

I've not been able to access the site due to an issue with cookies but catching up this is all it appears to be, they've had a meeting, it's gone well and tomorrow Ratcliffe will meet with the Glazers reps.

Unless I've missed something, which is possible as I've just skimmed over the pages.

You’ve pretty much nailed it. Same again tomorrow with INEOS then 2nd bids.

I think we basically know a state backed bid (which jassim's definitely would be) isn't going to be beaten by a private individual. There's probably only 3 other clubs in the world with our profile and that's real, Barca and bayern, none of which are going to be available to buy anytime soon, so I really can't see Qatar letting anyone beat them to buying us

Nothing, the next bids will be the crucial factor whoever bids more will become the frontrunner again.

Above all else it's good that we are at least seeing some progress. Got a bit worrying the other week with vague reports the Glazers might actually stay.

To be fair any deal lays with Qatar wanting it or not. I’d they like what they’ve seen and are prepared to up their offer then everyone else is in trouble

Improved bids etc.

I assume the Glazers discussed what they'd be willing to accept. I don't know if a 3rd round of bidding is a thing.

I still can't fully get on board with any of this. I'm not sure how INEOS can be in with much chance, and if they are then what that means for the club being debtless in future. The Sheikh Jassim bid still seems like a complex way to have the Qatari state buy the club. Regardless, both parties have shown prior experience of mismanaging football clubs.

I mean, sure, it results in the Glazers finally fecking off but right now still we're just chasing news reports and I just hope we don't look back in five years time and say "well this has turned out to be a bit shit".

I guess we will see. I'd surmise SJR has gone up against a few States and powerful individuals in his time. The Qataris PR campaign does give the impression they are more commited but the quiet, reserved man shouldnt be underestimated.

If it is to be the Qataris, I look forward to winning 9 out of 10 league titles and tbh, does anyone really like the Champions League :wenger:

This is exactly what I think too, people twerking over statements that don't mean anything until its put into practice makes me uneasy, as for Qatari flags in the away end that's very small time to me but I guess I am probably in the minority

If it was me, and it's probably best that it isn't, I'd look and see which of these potential owners still has a club in Europe this season and go with them

Though I think everyones worst fear is that it does indeed turn out to be a bit shit, whoever takes over.

And unfortunately, United specialise in things turning to shit.

The reported timeline of the end of the month seems to dictate that a 3rd round is unlikely, but with 4 in the running currently it’s a possibility unless one offer blows all the other away.

I agree. The lads with the flags should be ashamed - at least until that happens. They’ll look pretty silly if it doesn’t.

Looks like Jassim will close this pretty soon. Bit surprised he’s suddenly briefing about getting ex-players involved, who, why, and in which roles? Hard to think of any ex-United players who would add very much.

Saf: "feck I was caught by the camera yawning"

Wumminator: "don't worry. As long as you are seated near me no one will notice you"

A certain goalie...?

Why are people saying we are being bought ”by Qatar” rather than by a Qatari person?

Because everyone knows where the money is really coming from.

But also, based on previous takeovers, these types of buyers often use a person to front the bid. Sometimes once the takeover is complete, the face of the bid vanishes. Can't remember if it was PSG or City where we were shown a person throughout the takeover who then just vanished after it was complete.

Though all of those saying SJR might buy us are also wrong, as he's just fronting for Ineos.... though he also owns Ineos. A sort of take over inception.

It’s for show to get fans onside.
Beckham and Rio are nailed on. Can see Rooney picking up a nice paycheque as well

Because the guy who is meant to be buying us doesn't have a spare 5bn to buy a football club. He's said to be worth 1.6bn.

You'd have to have about 30bn to be able to spend so much on a football club as nobody would put every penny they own in.
