Club Sale | It’s done!

Ineos/Qatar are in a better negotiating position. The Glazers didn't even take a dividend at the end of the most recent period. Think about that. The club have lost £225m over the last 3 years deapite having CL football 2 of those 3 years, and are on pace for another loss this year. New FFP rules have started now and the club could be facing fines by summer 2024. The stadium is in bad shape. Commercial revenue is down.

Even a minority investor, if they're stupid enough to trust the Glazers with their money despite all of the above, won't help the potential FFP issues coming. The value of the club is not about to shoot up significantly, certainly not enough to make up for a reduced ownership percentage.

They're selling. There is no value for them in staying.

The concern for some will of course be that neither blinks and no sale ever gets over the line. It is almost certainly true that Qatar do not want to be seen to be getting ripped off. It is also a fact that Avram and Joel attempted to buy their four siblings out just last summer, which would certainly indicate that they are (or at least very recently were) keener on remaining at the club than the others.

We're not going to hear anything of any real significance for at least a couple of weeks, though, and it is probably best to ignore much or what is printed in the interim.

I don't think anyone likes to be ripped off to be fair. I think Qatar are desperate to buy, and the Glazers just want to milk them for as much money as possible. They'd be insane not to sell to Ratcliffe or Jassim.

All true. And yet, eight months ago Avram and Joel tried to raise enough capital to buyout c. 46% of the company from their siblings. Those two evidently can see some benefit in sticking around (or as recently as last summer they could, anyway).

Agreed. I don't think we should underestimate the Glazers' greed and stupidity as factors in all of this, though - they have shown themselves to have plenty of each attribute during the course of the past decade.

If Qatar buy the club I'm an ex man UTD supporter. Rather have the Glazers than be an oil money club.

Side note, I don't get the point of those aggregator Tweet accounts. See it so often, a Tweet posted by the actual journalist/news organisation, then the exact same story reworded by 'Utd News' or 'Red Updates' or whatever

It's a bit mansplainy. See it all time though. If Henry Winter reports we bid Kane then the Tweet will be visible and posted here then someone will inevitable put:

@StrettyNewsUpdates: United bid for Kane [@HenryWinter]

I don't get why. 80% of Tweets are duplicated like this when the original source is openly available and posted. Same news but from an account that puts the source in square brackets because that makes it more interesting for some reason.

Usually is transfers but this thread has so many of them too

Everyone above EtH should be sacked, no exceptions, no new roles, just gone.

And weaken ETH's power structure? Arnold/murtough hired him so unless you make ETH some supreme being within the organisation he will have lost the people who hired supported -- stuck their necks out for him like with his transfer request incl Chasing after the Dutch Guy at Barca for months.

New guys will have their own ideas and guys who they can have control over.
They may see ETH as a threat.
So with any bli!p in performance it maybe just the excuse they have to get rid of ETH.

Best is not to change anything for a season or two.

I'm pretty sure Arnold will get replaced by another CEO. Maybe they'll give him a VP / Director title to have his expertise around but the new guys will always need a top man that they appoint.

I really hope they have this mapped out in their heads atleast and not get yet another random banker fraud who knows nothing about football like Woody in. They run PSG, Nice etc. so they should know.

This rhetoric is really really funny

No one is replacing EtH, the fans would revolt, and he would be the most sought after coach in Europe.

Thinking anyone in this club is competent enough to continue is even funnier.
Everything is in place and going well on the football side of things and you want to rip it all up and start again. It’s hilarious that you think that any one would go in, snap their fingers and wipe out a whole department for no reason whatsoever

It's hilarious you think it won't happen

Okay so, if a 10m less fee for Lisandro was not accepted, are you saying if we bought Antony earlier, it would have been £50m? Because I dont see other players we over paid for? Malacia? was that over pay?

Murtough and Arnold actually did strike a deal with Barcelona, our offer was accepted for 75m actually. A pipe dream you call it but I see it as trying your best to back the manager. Clearly FdJ was Ten Hag's priority signing, his main man and they tried to deliver that for him, unfortunately, he did not want to come. Like in the past.... you have mentioned the names we would have offered record breaking figures to get him in, this time we didn't.

Clearly, if you think the Casemiro deal was lucky, you aint a clue. The deal had been worked for months, its been well reported, Fred has come out saying him and Casemiro discussed it well in advance. You dont go get a WC DM by luck. But anyway, its fine you dont want to credit the board as it doesnt help your narrative.

We dont know if he is best in class, time will tell.
Great thing about football everyone is entitled to an opinion and we don’t have to agree we did not over pay for Malacia no but the fact remains as a club right now we are a striker short, we could a bought a few with that £40m overpaid, it was obvious Ronaldo was trying to get out of the club all summer for a CL club and Martial had just flopped on loan at Sevilla plus we had the number 11 problem!

Best In Class don’t leave the manager scrambling for a loan deal in January on a Burnley CFW whose playing in Turkey!

That's not how politics work in an organisation. You said it yourself, the fans would revolt? Goes to show how much leverage ETH has.
Would any new people above him want someone below them to have that much leverage? They will replace him if he has a bad run as an excuse.

Unless there's images or some official acknowledgement of the Elliot group in attendence, I'd imagine it's just another ploy to strengthen the Glazers position.

Doesn’t say they’re there. Says that potential investors, potentially from Elliott are there. Lot of potential…

feck this. If we go down the investor root with the likes of Elliot and the Glazers the club will be even more ruined than it already is
3rd in the Premier League with the biggest capacity in the country, not sure I would currently describe us as "ruined" although Elliott getting involved certainly would be bad for the club.

The media really are just treating this like a transfer, as if it's the only way they know how to report.
The BBC have got a podcast series on this. Every angle covered. Can’t imagine this with any other club

feck these accounts, even Simon basically says he’s guessing

It is understood there will be potential investors at tonight's game, potentially from the Elliott Investment Management group, who formerly owned AC Milan and are willing to provide funding around United rather than buy into the club itself.
