Club Sale | It’s done!

One silver lining - Glazers aren't getting a pay day.

Petty, maybe, but I'd be kind of glad. The less they get selling us - the better.

Dream scenario - someone buys us for 6 billion, insists on paying cash, Glazers load the money in a container, en route to Tampa ship hits an iceberg, sinks, money lost forever.

Billions of pounds? Yeah, chump change that is

Hm, thanks for that bit, didn't know that. But like I've said with other topics with regard to the sale, they can make it work (only thing is whether the plc bit would make it more difficult). Maybe all shares get converted to class A but those of them who want to stay get a multiplier applied to keep their voting rights, while Qatar get their majority stake.

I am completely making it up at this point but these things are possible given there is a will on both sides.

If we imagine that's why the Glazers were in Qatar - to try to stay on as passive investors after their siblings sell - the whole story makes sense to me.
I have not seen any leak/report saying that the Glazers want to remain as passive investors. All the talk has been about a full sale, or them getting investment in to retain control of the club, so not sure where you are getting this "passive stakeholder" from. Moreover, the moment they convert it into class A shares, as you say, they lose their value and are just the same class of shares as there is on NYSE, so no way is it going for 2x it's current value which the Glazers want. None of those permutations/combinations make sense.

It's going to be a full sale and nothing less than that can save the Glazers in the current situation that they find themselves in with relation to the investment needed in the club.

Not trying to stir up anything but how would most of the fans here feel about being taken over by Qatar? Would it stop you supporting the club?

Welcome to redcafe. It has been answered in the last 100 pages. Feel free to be part of it.

This is big news considering that Bloomberg have rubber-stamped it. If Qatar are getting involved, then the only way they are stopped is if the PL/FA throw a spanner in the works.

They would have definitely done their due diligence wrt UEFA and pretty sure the UK govt would not dare to feck them over with the investments they bring.

Let's be honest the PL/Uefa can't stop this considering the other groups they've let in the sport

Edit:
Already posted.
Massive news and confirms my suspicions from before.
They have got the go ahead from UEFA.

Welcome to Manchester United Qatar - Crazy Skills and Goals Compilation.

That doesn't make much sense. Are you trying to be clever? He's clueless as he's only covering what's been reported for days anyway. Zero new input.

He’s not ‘covering’ to be fair. He has football conversations, and this is one of them, in an interview. Only these online children place this silly demand on him to ‘say something nobody has said before’ or he’s a con artist.

I’m very curious as to what it would take for this petty ‘Romano is a con artist who makes things up’ thing to stop. He’s very clearly a very highly connected and highly respected journalist, who has passed on an uncountable amount of exclusive information in his time. He’s apparently never allowed to speak on something he didn’t tweet first otherwise he’s ‘looking for a tap in’. It’s incredibly childish, you would think he was some teenager in his bedroom the way people talk about him, not one who has open conversations with leading agents and clubs all the time.

I meant the PL in terms of the fit and proper stuff can still try to feck United over one last time. Doubt it will stand up to scrutiny though considering they just allowed Newcastle to be owned by Saudi.

No, there is nothing that would stop me supporting United. Not even Elon Musk buying us.

It just says bid by the end of the week, they're hearing.
When Bloomberg says "they are hearing", it's not from a rumour vine or from a Mile Keegan. They must have got it straight from the horse's mouth to put it on their feed.

Still expect the FA/PL to throw something in, a lot of outside agencies won't be happy with Qatar taking over United.

Not sure on this paragraph in the Bloomberg story. Seem they're saying that Al-Khelaifi can somehow fudge it through cos of his being on the committee.

Qatar Sports Investments, a separate entity to QIA, already owns French super-club Paris Saint-Germain FC. Regulations from European football’s governing body, UEFA, state that teams with the same majority owner can’t both compete in the region’s major tournaments, including the showpiece Champions League. QSI chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi is also a member of the UEFA Executive Committee that adopts its regulations.

It’s not he owners but the cheat code they bring. We are looking at the formation of a football super club. A mega power.
I’ve learned to block the owners out years ago, I’ve gone back and forward on this over the years but now it’s come to the crunch Im not gonna walk away from Ten Hag and everything that’s going on now.
If we sign Mbappe, and we should be in for those players with our status and the league were in (feck Glazers) I’ll be excited. It’s when we’re looking for these players every summer and we’re constantly winning leagues that could lessen the drama of it all for me.
Although, the banter revenge tour we’d be on would be fantastic

They're good but they do some speculative single source stories too. I've got a couple of friends who work there.

Anyone else got PTSD from the line "preparing a bid" or "bid is imminent"
