$300m before the end of the year so within the next 8 weeks to get things started then with promised funding in the future too. It’s quite a decent commitment to be fair for a bloke buying 25%, a step in the right direction but more needs to be known about future investment and what on

Yeah the guy is reportedly paying 300M out of his own pocket. That's well beyond anything one could reasonably expect.

With the impending arrival of Ratcliffe I can only assume that the players (or those who aren't listening to ETH) will feel the manager's days are numbered. I therefore think there is no immediate hope that there will be an uplift in performances. Given the run of games we have till the inter'l break, I can only see more defeats. Saturday will be a good barometer!

It's actually a pretty big commitment in the context of 25% stake but I think it's even more than that for me it does point towards the fact Sir Jim Ratcliff would definitely have some sort of groundwork for full take over in not so distant future .

The managers days are dependant on the managers behaviour from here on out. If he's not going to coach the players in a way that improves them then his days are well and truly numbered and he'll know that also, so where's his incentive to even try at this point?

Mad that someone who only owns 25% will put more money into the club than the leeches that have held ownership for nearly 20 years.

It's only 25% ownership at the moment and the first initial injection. I get he can't throw all the money from day 0 but having a plan to improve it and sticking to that is fine by me.

If it is the first step to actual change in the boardroom and investment in infrastructure then great

But I'm dubious as there is Still too many unknowns and being sold dreams about things happening at some unspecified point in the future

This initial investment really helps with FFP by the way too. Not only that but it seems like a shot in the arm for things like the training centre, a proper sports science department etc. That's what I expect this money to be spent on. I expect there to be a further update down the line about the stadium seperate to this.

A year ago, if someone told us Sir James Arthur Ratcliffe FIChemE was buying into the club with an attempt to turn it around and oust the Glazers, this place would have been fine.

But then Fake Jassim started waving around his fake genitals and everyone got excited.
False.

A year ago if you’d have told the fanbase that someone was going to buy a minority stake in the club for £1.5bil+ & actually only invest £245mil into the club they’d have been uproar.

The fact that posters like yourself fail to talk up this Ratcliffe fiasco on its own merits instead of pitting it against some Qatari pipe dream that never came to fruition speaks volumes.

The deal is terrible, tell fans a year ago that the deal that was eventually struck would actually see the Glazers pocket more than the proposed investment in the club & they’d still be in majority ownership no one would have been fine.

It's great if Sir Jim is willing to invest in the infrastructure, but I'd also like to know all the details surrounding that investment and whether it is in the form of a loan potentially repayable by the club or if it will deducted off a future purchase price from the Parasites.

Also still the worry regarding the debt still laden on the club from the Parasites.

There is a lot to have optimism about, but still find my self wanting to know more before getting too excited as we all know how the Parasites work and although we may never know the finer details of everything it will be nicer to have a clearer picture.

On Paul Mitchell potentially coming in, it is nothing new as I think had Rangnick remained in place he would have potentially been appointed in some capacity anyway.

This is some positive news for sure, i like it.

I just hope he's smart enough to not spend a single penny on the stadium until he's 100% in. The idea being, a falling apart stadium will continue to keep pressure on the glazers to fully sell out.

I'd love it if that was the extent of the investment. No players, no training ground, no new stadium. Just a new roof. PL title here we come ladies and gents, that's all we needed.

Maybe he will just provide every match goer with a weather proof poncho

Thought infra spend doesn't come under FFP anyway ?

Yeah he should play it smart and let the stadium disintegrate some more, which will keep the pressure on glazers to sell out fully.

Fun fact he was Ex Barca player with no prior administrative experience when he was appointed as Barca's Sporting Director plucked away from his commentating job and there are plenty of other examples of people coming without much experience or rising from within organisation who have done great job .

My point is fairly simple there is no set formula for what would work for an organisation so I don't see any point in writing off anybody on arbitrary basis of not being best in the class or not being Elite .

Exactly, it is weird that fans always want to follow Bayern or Barca etc. but when we do hire ex-players the notion gets laughed at. What made Txiki a sure success? What even makes him great at his job? Is he being carried to that perception by Pep's greatnesss? It reminds me of David Gill being hailed but we had a lot of shocking times of austerity and awful signings and he had Fergie who just happened to be one of the greats and had full control.

Monchi was desired until he "failed" at Roma (I think), same thing with Mitchell and Edwards was labelled a joke until Klopp turned up. It's weird that DOFs have started to become famous and get praise for finding random gems despite their job being a lot more than that and, to be honest, their jobs are incredibly hard for us to judge because we get very little information on exactly how things run within these clubs, who is behind what decisions and how they come about.

If this is Sir Jim’s way of getting control, I don’t understand why the Glazers didn’t just sell to Jasim?

Fix the gym. Ronaldo knows a thing or two about gymnastics. He said it was the problem

If this is Sir Jim’s way of getting control, I don’t understand why the Glazers didn’t just sell to Jasim?

Because they are getting more money from Jim's bid if they extrapolate it to a full sale.

So if/when Jim buys all the club it's a better deal for them.

To suck more money out of the club of course. They hoping for inflation by sitting longer and get even more.

but presumably their ability to pay dividends out etc will be reduced with Jim’s involvement, he’s not going to put £250m in for infrastructure only for the glazers to pull it out in dividends. Agree with the share value growth point

Based on the figures reported, Ratcliffe's current implied valuation of the club (based on the 25% he is taking now) is already a fair bit higher than what the Sheikh offered. That doesn't even account for whatever potential arrangement they have for the future which no doubt would put an even higher value on it. It simply comes down to money, as well as likely catering to however many of the Glazers were only willing to fully sell now for a Cuckoo Land valuation.

So, with it being unlikely that Ratcliffe/INEOS will be 100% owners of Utd since the Glazers will no longer be in a position of weakness after getting this minority investment - how hopeful will people be that we will ever be free from the Glazers? Now we will have another cook in the kitchen with voting rights as if 6 siblings wasn't difficult enough to find a unifying vision. The Glazers aren't leaving under the terms Ratcliffe will be offering and Ratcliffe won't be voting to sell the club in the future should the Glazers want to. This already messy situation is only going to get worse years down the line. This isn't something we want or need. We need the Glazers gone and in its place we need a singular direction and vision that puts the club first - I don't see how this deal benefits anyone but the Glazers because if it didn't benefit them - they wouldn't be accepting it - and if it's good for the Glazers it's not good for Utd.

not sure I follow? The value of their shares will grow over time with Jim’s involvement so they will end up with a higher exit value you mean? Jasim was already paying a premium and I’d be surprised if there’s not some protection for Jim.

I guess they will be without dividends but will earn more due to value growth yes. These ghouls can play the long game for ssome extra money.
