Faisal Islam said you know the deal is done when the shares hit 30. It reached almost 27 earlier and could spike again quickly

Wow, Times going really hard in opposite direction here!

They must really truly believe this to be this bullish.

Maybe it’s Jim Rat ft The Glazers after all. If Glazers are staying in any capacity, they should really get moving on transfers and supporting ETH.

They’ll really need to win over the fans after this.

Fair enough but most don't. I obviously won't change my allegiance now but I only knew of United's existence because they made the CL final in 1999.

Success not only is nice but also gets you new fans because of all the eyes on the club. They may or may not be glory hunters but what is undeniable is that it increases the popularity of the club which is generally considered good.

In any case, I won't gloat if Qatar do win but I also struggle with his sport is not about winning narrative. Sport is literally about competition where the winner is not hurt (except their pride).

Yeah all the above is true and I can't really moan at it. I'm coming at it from a different viewpoint.

When do journalists like Matt Lawton and the Times ever make up shit? They are not the Sun or Daily Star.

When they have seemingly have a horse backed

Reuters don't and their report wasn't dismissed. If people read the article, it says they were discussing exclusivity and nobody really disputed that. Simon Stone said that it wasn't agreed, Reuters never said it was

Journalists aren't infallible. They do occasionally jump the gun requiring later retractions, or else the situation in the story they are covering is so fluid that the result ends up being different from what was originally reported. This is why you wait for further confirmation.

Well my opinion is that the British journalists are the ones who are wrong, and that's far more likely than reuters chief journalist for mergersand acquisitions making a report that was widely dismissed as both keegan and the times have claimed

They have football sources. This goes way higher than that.
The negotiations are confidential, taking place under a non-disclosure agreement. Who exactly are the likes of Keegan and Jacobs supposed to be getting info from within the negotiation room?

Interesting, given that AFP, along with AP, and Reuters are pretty much viewed the same in terms of international credibility.

its all the wording though. The Reuters report said they are discussing exclusivity not that its done, you can discuss it with "nothing new"

AFP and Reuters are comparable in terms of credibility and track record. Both globally recognized agencies (along with AP). AFP are apparently publishing something different from the earlier Reuters piece.

Especially interesting that there is absolutely nothing officially published or on Twitter from AFP

RMC INEOS mouthpieces?

To be fair that could mean anything. We really don’t know what the starting point is here. Could easily mean waiting on results of the exclusivity negotiations.
The simplest answer could be Reuters thinks they have someone who talked and the rest don’t and that’s where the difference lays

Agreed, financial publications and those that have ties to the stock market are better placed to guess. Who are Keegan, Lawton anyway? They’ve told us the grand sun of nothing fresh off the press since the process began. They even categorically stated SJ had placed a bid when he hadn’t. That should tell you all.

Its the personal attacks on journalists I find pathetic. I hope none of these posters ever voted for Boris...
Attacking anyone having a different opinion is naive and stupid in the extreme. Let the process take its route. The fans can then decide from whatever different perspective or ethical standpoint they will carry on their support or otherwise.

Can’t find anything from them

I trust Reuters in any story over The Times. Even if that story was what is happening in the News UK offices

Trust Reuters with what exactly? They report based on their sources but do you actually think someone at the club or Raine officially confirmed anything to then?

The answer is obviously not as that would be illegal so again exactly what is the trust here? They ain't making shit up but it doesn't mean the story will always check out.

Not really. From that tweet it sounds like AFP's source is someone in the Jassim camp, and that person is not revealing much. "Nothing to report" doesn't contradict anything we've heard.

not really that different. Until negotiations are complete and exclusivity is granted, there is nothing new

Yep, now it's interesting. If it's Reuters vs Times then it's Reuters every day. Reuters vs AFP then it's two heavyweights

You don't have to get that info from someone in the room - security/hotel staff etc. People see who meet and how long these meetings take etc.

Times are literally just parroting what Ineos tell them to verbatim.

The fact fans have to 'choose' if we are prepared to support the owners of the club is a shambles in the first place. It shouldn't be like this.

I trust Reuters but both what they say and what the AP say can be true if the Glazers are basically engaged in a parallel sale process, save for the final decision, as has been previously reported.

Qatar can be negotiating exclusivity and Ineos could be at the same stage or similar and this would mean nothing has theoretically changed.

My biggest issue at the moment is the fact this may be holding up transfers of really great long-term targets and this gives another excuse to the incompetents at the club who don't really need any more 'help' to fail.

its all the wording though. The Reuters report said they are discussing exclusivity not that its done, you can discuss it with "nothing new"

Discussing exclusivity is however a different thing than awaiting clarity which is what AFP published.

"A source close to Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani said Thursday that the Qatari bidders were still awaiting clarity from Manchester United after a report suggested they could be offered exclusivity in the battle to buy the club".

Amusing seeing Times sports writers rubbishing Reuters on an acquisition story, sure Matts

Seperate the reporting from the evidence people. Look at who has taken some very clear obvious actions. The company registration, Rio's video, Glazers asking for an SJ bid increase and more if you'll just look. Evidence! Evidence!! Evidence!!!
