Seems like British journalists are spitting the dummy out.
Agreed. Every time positive Qatar news come out they pour cold water on it.

Whether it’s not wanting to see United with vast resources or being against Qatar the English media definitely DO NOT want Sheikh Jassim to win.

So Chelsea sale to Boehly et al was agreed on the 7th May. It was then approved on the 24th May by the EPL. There was then a delay before it went through due to the U.K. Govt being involved but that doesn’t apply here. No idea why they’re suddenly saying 8-12 weeks.

Who’s the journalist behind the times article?

I'd imagine the same times journalist who told us Ratcliffe was going to be announced as the preferred bidder by the end of the week, over a month ago

Twice in one week the muppets have convinced themselves that Qatar have it in the bag over a load of fluff. It's impressive, really.
What’s more impressive are Jim’s fanboys still hanging on to the belief he is still in the race. There’s so much smoke that it’s impossible to breathe but they still try to convince themselves there’s no fire.

If you're convinced it's nothing but fluff, surely you're shorting the stock now, seeing as it would be heavily overvalued?

The biggest and most recognisable companies and brands are involved in the Middle East. I've not seen a murmur from people calling them out. The lyrics from the Abba song goes ring so true.

Morality is so lost these days. Respect to those small band of brothers and sisters still around to argue for the downtrodden.

If you haven't, then you haven't looked.

Why do people get their knickers in a twist over what a reporter states.. Its all hearsay and gossip unless it includes on the record comments from the main parties involved.

Tbh I'm there already, I was against the Qatari buyout as it kills the spirit of compeittive football, but City winning the CL and Newcastle qualifying for the CL have changed my mind. The floodgates have opened and since regulation to curtail it isn't forthcoming, if you can't beat em, join em

If anything more oil clubs doing well may lead to some actual useful regulation against the dodgy sponsorships etc to even the field for the other clubs
Good point.

People say that Qatar buying United is the nail in the coffin for fair play in football. But what this proves is our reach is so huge that this can aspect of football ownership can now come to the forefront proper and be seriously addressed by virtue it's so well publicised.

Maybe it won't happen but usually change happens when the number of people and the brand affected is significant. No one cares about City and not many cared about Newcastle but Manchester United is just another universe.

If it's the same guy, he would have been made a director of a state investment Company at the age of 21. That seems unlikely.

I think what's also possible is that this is another bloke with the same name.

Same thing happens when you Google search "Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani" and it brings up results for loads of people besides the guy who's supposedly bidding for us.

Poking their heads up saying I told you so as if they weren’t relying on these very same links and sources for 6 months now.

its a shame Ratcliffe's entire bid reeks. A year ago I thought he might be our saviour. Instead he's desperate to get into bed with the Glazers, wants to sign up for a load of new wall street debt and doesn't want to do anything about the existing Glazer debt. Even his attempts at PR spin have been god awful

I've become so bitterly anti-Ratcliffe because he is such a fecking disappointment in every way imaginable.

The Times article is a bit weird. They say the Reuters article was widely dismissed.... they just making shit up

Just because someone reports something you don't like doesn't mean it's fake or they have some imaginary agenda.

The best journo's have sources from both sides and they are saying Ineos and 92 are basically confident but haven't heard back yet.

I don’t think the Times report has a clue about what Reuters broke today.
