No you were responding to someone that tried to answer your question about Chelsea

Follow those posts back. I was replying to someone who said if we stick to the rules we can only spend 100m this summer

Think he's saying normally billionaires wouldn't put up with the nonsense that this process has turned into, but because it's United they're enduring the shenanigans

What nonsense is he talking about?

Have you watched Mid Morning Matters, Scissored Isle and This Time as well mate?

I think Coogan’s actually gotten even better in the newer material.
I have seen literally everything. All the podcasts, audiobooks, day to day appearances, etc. I consider myself numero one when it comes to him. I'd actually go on mastermind and take him as the topic. I'd do well. Naturally. anyway, I don't want to derail this marvellous thread, so er, as you were Michael.

The state of our current ownership though.

Negotiating the terms on exclusivity negotiations.

No wonder we have fallen so far over the years. The fecking dawdling and indecisiveness is overwhelming. I get that they are trying to squeeze every penny but this is just amateurish.
Negotiations are probably on the Qatar side simply stating what they want to analyse. They’ll be timescales etc in play. By all accounts Qatar are impatient so I’m sure it’ll be wrapped up in a hurry

I don't need to follow anything back. I responded to your question, you responded to mine and then you caught a strange attitude for no reason.

I don't think our budget is 100m, I replied to someone else who said that. There's no strange attitude. Last summer we were told by the same sources the budget was 100m, and we spent 250m, I'm sure we'll have a similar amount of leeway this year

Can we stop posting Ben Jacobs tweets in this thread now? he consistently is wrong about everything.

 How many times are people going to post a link to the Reuters story as if we haven't been discussing it for ten+ pages already.

What is he talking about?

The amount of leaks/false stories, missed dates etc in this process has been a lot and in a normal M&A process could cause a company to back away from a merger/acquisition
All in all too we know that its being done to milk the best price possible, both SJR and SJ are tolerating it though because they really want United

I don’t care what Jacobs has been saying. Reuters was being discussed and nobody said it has been granted yet.
I was arguing against an insane point that said the article states Qatar negotiating for exclusivity but United were rejecting it.
This is huge news. Qatar aren’t negotiating exclusivity without constant talks with Jim and how much further he wants to go. This would suggest not much further.
Trying to play it down is weird as feck

If you are referring to my post:
"Doesn't the Reuturs article just say Qatar are negotiating FOR EXCLUSIVITY. It hasn't been granted?" Sentence one = About Reuters article.

"Basically Qatar are saying, please only talk with us and the Glazers saying no." Sentence two = Not about Reuturs article exclusively. Just my simplified view of current events based on Jacobs saying club firmly deny exclusivity and the fact that as of now it clearly hasn't been granted yet.

We still don't have a clue about how close or far away things are behind the scenes and this article doesn't move the needle as much as people initially let on, that's the point.

Is it looking like Qatar will be buying us? Yes, but initially many were confused by the article. Why do you have to start throwing about words like insane point and calling me weird as feck? Is it really necessary?

Yes, but we're a bigger club than Chelsea, with higher revenues, and I'm not wctually suggesting spending 600m, just that we won't be limited to 100m
It's well reported that that's how much we have before sales (or in that ballpark), obviously feck knows if it's true but the numbers bods on here have largely suggested the same.

Or they're on the verge of exclusivity but the LOI hasn't been signed yet, so the exclusivity period hasn't officially started.

Truth is, we don't know.

 How many times are people going to post a link to the Reuters story as if we haven't been discussing it for ten+ pages already.

Its because the author of the original article keeps updating it with useless information.

Where does it say United are saying no? If they said no there wouldn’t be negotiations.

If you’re relying on Ben he has stated before there won’t be exclusivity since neither buyer need one. All the numbers, facts and figures will have already been presented to them so there’s no need for exclusivity. Not that United wont grant one.

Yup. Like you go to talk shit to a Liverpool fan after beating them - except now they just say "yeah well you're an oil club and have unlimited funds to do this so are you really happy"... You can't even respond to it. The whole social element of football, being proud to win, fighting your corner etc is all in the dust now. It's just like a private thing I'll keep to myself now basically.

I dont care how we beat Liverpool. If we cheat to dive and win a penalty all the more satisfying. They also hated losing to City who happily kept them down to one-time Premier League champions. The oil club thing wont make a jot of difference to the strength of feeling.

So again what is he talking about? Is he privy to anything and how does it compare to any other takeover?
There was a leak last week that said the way this sale has been conducted by the sellers was borderline criminal from someone close to the process. So there's a chance he's referencing that and the fact it's still ongoing without any sight of a resolution still.

It was similarly well reported last summer that our budget was 100m before sales. Iirc we didn't sell anyone but spent 250m. This whole process of the takeover should show how stories catch fire but half the time the journalists sources are each other, one posts something and they all report it

One thing has been absolutely clear all the way through - the British press have absolutely no idea what's going on right up until the end

My answer to this would still be yes

PL and other teams gonna kick up a fuss I reckon
They've just passed a ruling that clubs shouldn't be owned through leveraged purchases with debt on the club rather than owner, a situation which this very sale is meant to move us out of. Also Newcastle (and City) are both more explicitly connected to their respective States, given public information about each owner/potential owner. Regardless of feels or jealousy, in terms of precedent they don't have any grounds to 'kick up a fuss'

Shares climbing again slightly. Heading to 25.50

Okay, so Crafton is suggesting that the Glazers are the ones spreading false stories in the news? Anyone actually believe that the sport press isn't the one talking nonsense on their own and that it is in fact the Glazers, even though the press said everything and its opposite for all sides?

This is happening

Did you grant it?

I can confirm that he did.

The two audiobooks read by partridge himself (third due this year) and the podcasts are incredible. Pure gold.

Good men. Been a huge fan since day one myself.

Now, no offence Jim Brexit… but your bid is technically not worth going exclusive with.

He wasn't specific, but I think he means how long it's dragging and a decision not being made regarding exclusivity period etc, not sure

If that's what he meant then he needs to stfu or start doing his job, it's not diffictult to find clubs or franchises that are or have been sold in the past 2 to 3 years and see how long or difficult the process was. Honestly this sales, exposed how incompetent the sport press is.

Absolutely, it's been insane to watch people in here wildly swing back and forth based on whatever journos are tweeting on any given day. I think it's symptomatic of how the press is having to work now though, its all about generating clicks, so there's pressure to give updates even when they have no real information
