Hearing from my sources (my sad little brain) that Thomas Zilliacus the Finnish Billionaire has exclusivity (on FM) after he all of this was a rouse to make people think SJR and SR were the two preferred bidders.

Ben Jacobs said his sources firmly deny any party being granted exclusivity. Reuters only say that Qatar are negotiating for it with United. Exclusivity has clearly not been granted yet. This is all consistent. The point being it's not really much of an update it's just worded to confuse people.

Reuters arent going to run an exclusive to say nothings changed. Clearly Qatar are close to exclusivity at this point

They have the finances to cheat in order to get there. The risk is gone. That in turn means the joy is impacted
Bit of a stretch to imply there will be cheating at any stage. Let's see how it goes before falling into that pit. No club of the scale of United has been sold to a State before.

The state of our current ownership though.

Negotiating the terms on exclusivity negotiations.

No wonder we have fallen so far over the years. The fecking dawdling and indecisiveness is overwhelming. I get that they are trying to squeeze every penny but this is just amateurish.

Again: How do you come up with this conclusion? There's no point negotiating the terms of exlusivity if one party doesn't want to grant it.

Because it hasn't been granted? If it was granted then they would say it wouldn't they? Of course it can change, that's how a negotiation works.

When you put on the Kandora and Ghutra you just can read minds apparently.

Man Utd players soon:

Thoughts go out to all those that were calling Sheikh Jassim embarrassing and amateurish with his bids

Last summer we were told the budget was 100m, we spent 250m. And don't remember any significant sales. Forgive me if i don't pay attention to the same stories. Weren't we told the Glazers cleared the 200m credit facility? So we can't use that towards our signings?

You clearly don't know what you're talking about.

Quite frankly if I try and explain it, I think I'd probably have more luck teaching a dog mechanics. So I'm not really interested in this futile effort.

So good luck, and just believe what you want to believe

Or indeed anyone who paid attention to what British journalists said throughout this whole process

Nothing yet on BBC.

They're always last to announce stuff, like they normally do with transfers. Nothing is absolutely 100% yet and I wouldn't be surprised if they don't just wait until an official club statement and just quote that.

Its obviously time for the click bait mob to get their last cash in on this story

I don’t care what Jacobs has been saying. Reuters was being discussed and nobody said it has been granted yet.
I was arguing against an insane point that said the article states Qatar negotiating for exclusivity but United were rejecting it.
This is huge news. Qatar aren’t negotiating exclusivity without constant talks with Jim and how much further he wants to go. This would suggest not much further.
Trying to play it down is weird as feck

I will, like when I believed that Qatar will stay favourites no matter what you and the rest of the thread said, believing every word British journalists posted. I've been consistently correct in not paying attention to that, and I'd imagine by the end of this summer, I'll be proven correct that we dont spend less than 100m

What is he talking about?
The Glazers. Always the Glazers. But ,more specifically the fact that it's seemingly being briefed to the British journalists that even at this stage, even with de facto exclusivity for SJ, formal exclusivity isn't being granted (so the Glazers can still continue to string the process along in the hope that SJR sorts out legal issues and bids more money, with no 'end date' provided to either side) . And that's the more charitable explanation, compared to the possibility of more Succession-style 'hi-jinks' with siblings refusing to commit to a unified strategy even for their own selfish interests.

Generally in M&A, exclusivity officially starts when the Letter of Intent is signed.

Based on these briefings, I'd imagine Jassim has won it (hence "negotiating exclusivity"), but they still need to finalize the LOI and get it signed before it can be official.

But what happened to the final take it or leave it qatari offer last week? What they negotiating now??

No I was replying to someone who said our budget was 100m, I didn't bring it up
No you were responding to someone that tried to answer your question about Chelsea

So how did Chelsea spend 600m last season?
You would have to know two things. How much room for investment FFP allows new owners to have, I don't remember how much it is. And secondly you need to know how much room Chelsea had anyway. A silly example would be that if Chelsea were scheduled to be 200m€ under the FFP limits, they would have 200m available for investment without problems.
Right and the room we apparently have is 100m, so no reason we can't spread the payments out over a few years. It's not as if Chelsea hadn't been spending either, they spent like 250m the summer before they won the CL

people will insist they don’t care, but will spend an inordinate time in the upcoming years complaining about people not treating us with respect, or mentioning our owners every time we achieve anything (as we insist the media should with City) or arguing with any United fan that can still be bothered to point out their hypocrisy.

You’re getting what you want. That’s the trade off. Tough. Deal with it.
Yup. Like you go to talk shit to a Liverpool fan after beating them - except now they just say "yeah well you're an oil club and have unlimited funds to do this so are you really happy"... You can't even respond to it. The whole social element of football, being proud to win, fighting your corner etc is all in the dust now. It's just like a private thing I'll keep to myself now basically.

I am so confused. Qatar gets exclusive talks BUT Ineos still can jump in?
This will drag for few more weeks at least.
Until exclusivity is granted then Shareholders are legally obligated to consider every bid thats put on the table.
It’s why all the stage 1 / stage 2 nonsense etc was absolute dog shit. Feck me Qatar made two bids after the final bid deadline!

That the two parties have been messed around so much by the Glazers, if it wasn't United up for sale, they'd probably have pulled out and told them to feck off.

So again what is he talking about? Is he privy to anything and how does it compare to any other takeover?

Yep. And a lot of people who got so insulted every time United’s past successes were mentioned (like 10, 15 years ago today, etc.) will do exactly this: repeatedly mention our history and our past successes in order to argue how big and successful United already were pre Qatar and that’s why we can’t be compared to City, PSG, etc. Even if part of it is true, we will moving forward still almost always be put in the same line with them.

Reuters report suggests Qatar is negotiating or close to exclusivity. It’s pretty misleading and fits a pattern of Raine using the media to add jeopardy and force Inesos this time to up their bid.

Suggests Qatar is leading now, but it's not over yet.
I believe Editor in Charge for U.S. M&A at Reuters wouldn't be lending his name to such shenanigans but heck what do I know .

Have you watched Mid Morning Matters, Scissored Isle and This Time as well mate?

I think Coogan’s actually gotten even better in the newer material.
The two audiobooks read by partridge himself (third due this year) and the podcasts are incredible. Pure gold.
