United fan going to bat for Abramovich and a guy doubling down on comparing Roman to Himmler are two of the most insane things to happen in this entire thread and to have them concurrently is frankly a bit overwhelming.

Also Amnesty are shills again, but this time because they're criticizing City.

Do you think you live in a free country? Go and speak out against climate change or the LGBT movement and see what happens to you. Please not that I have not stated any opinion in regards to these movements, only that they can’t be criticised.

What happens?

Rumours in my news room they've sold to the Qataris and will break tomorrow. Bit vague tbh but maybe...

Are you aware how many westerners are living in Gulf states? Are you aware how many are desperately trying to go and live there? I hate to break it to you. But people there are free and safe. People really need to stop embarrassing themselves speaking about countries they couldn’t even point on a map, yet alone visited/lived and be a position to explain the differences amongst each.

Also you might think we’re free here in the west. Try being a journalist who writes about war crimes or leaked information that exposes criminality.

I can point to any country in the world and I can name them all (I actually can).

Are you seriously suggesting that freedom of speech has a stronger standing in Qatar? When you think you've heard it all. And I am sorry, but anecdotally evidence does not hold. But maybe this would interest you: https://rsf.org/en/index

Life in Qatar is not bad, if you're among the few privileged ones (i.e. a heterosexual man of Qataran origin). Meanwhile, we'll welcome the millions that want to come to make a life in the west.

They want to sell to Qatar I think. It's a game of chicken from now until June to see if they'll pay a bit more.

So just to be clear, you're of the view that the West should simply abandon the concept of morality in relation to other countries? I presume you think the West have no right to take a stance on Russia either if you follow the chain of logic in your argument.

It’s too complicated to answer in short. I think it’s extreme hypocrisy to go all in on Russia, ban them from international sport tournaments etc. but have nothing to say against Saudi Arabia for their war on Jemen.

Six months ago, I thought this process would be smooth and plain sailing. How could I be so naive. We need to see the back of these feckers asap.

Same here. I thought Qatar would just bid and get it. Naive is the right word. Glazers squeezing for every penny.

I'm almost sure that I told you that it the timeline was too optimistic? Outside of Chelsea all similar sales of big sports teams/franchises has taken a fair amount of time, I still don't understand why the press and presumably Raine would think that it was going to be quick and easy.

You just described 2 % of the population in Qatar. Arguably the group that is there through no choice of their own. 90% are there by choice. They decided to go there. They sought the opportunity to go there.

Oh, there are plenty speaking out against those movements. And I've yet to see any of them in prison. Maybe instead, you should go to Qatar and take part of the LGBT movement (if there is any). Please report back to us when you are back, we'll all be eager to hear how it went.

The longer is drags on the more this would seem to be the case. Otherwise what’s to consider ? They would have just accepted Ratcliffes proposal to keep them on and closed the book on all of this

Glazers sanction no new transfers and sell on September 2nd. value plummets and they buy it back with an all new round of debt to flip it for a 9-10 billion dollar evaluation in a few years.

Please open a thread in the CE forum if you need to discuss the pros and cons of ME and European/Westerns right and wrongs.

Remember when it was widely reported during the last bidding phase that a lot of the groundwork for the deal was already done and it would be a speedy process for whoever had the winning bid..

The glazers really are an utterly abhorrent outfit aren’t they. Absolute rats and leeches until the very end. They couldn’t give a feck about next season as long as they can squeeze some more cash out the club.

I worked in Qatar, generally the quality of living is good there. Women are safe when compared to other Asian countries.

But there are very few companies which don't pay salary properly. One of my friend was working in IT and his owner was not willing to pay salary when he asked the answer from the Shiek was his king has died and he was still grieving and couldn't pay the salary.

Previously you can't exit the country without exit visa from your company. Nowadays the system has been abolished and you can easily exit the country.

In Middle East, Bahrain, UAE (few states like Dubai and Abudhabi) are liberal, lots of pubs and nightlife. Saudi and Kuwait are very strict with no alcohol policy.Qatar falls inbetween these two, they are less pubs and drinks are expensive, also you can apply for QDC card based on which you can puchase certain amount of alcohol per month, you can get alcohol for double the price as someone who holds the card will sell for double the price illegally .

Apart from this it's a Islamic country following strict Islamic law, drugs, blasphemy not allowed, no LGBQT rights. May be in few years things will change.

Yeah and Murtough, if its about being the fall guy for a failed transfer window. A new regime would likely want their own people anyway

Ive no fear of losing either Arnold or Murtough. Both should go in 12 months either way under a new owner

I think it's absolutely disgusting and one of the worst and most disrespectful things you can do, but if I ever see a Glazer I'd be hard pressed not to spit at one.

I think about that sometimes. There's plenty of people in the public eye I think I hate but if I saw in person, I'd be able to control myself and act like a decent human.

All bets would be off with the Glazers - genuinely think I'd be ranting and raving at them from across the street.
