Club ownership | Senior management team talk

SAF needs to realise his place now. This club is not the one he left. It's not the one Sir Matt Busby led.

They already showed him what they thought in the summer when they stopped his legacy pay.

The club is currently like a small flickering flame in a dark room. A small gust and it's gone.

I knew nothing about Jim before takeover but seems to me that this guy is a huge, ruthless, egoistic prick and it must be a nightmare to work for him.

The Glazers horrible management of the club has forced Ratcliffe to make these cuts at the end of the day. There's a lot he can be criticised for but I think these cuts are probably necessary.

I agree but the cuts should be to player pay roll and exec pays first and then once that's been properly streamlined is when you should cut lower paid workers (if at all).

He could order tracing paper for toilet roll so staff bring their own in.

We don’t need to make sweeping judgements about every shit stirry media snippet though.

I’m sure the money spent on players wages is going to continue coming down as well but it’s going to take time. Problem is that all these players on obscene wages are almost unsellable, unfortunately I think cuts have to be made across the whole club as well in the meantime.

Memories huh!

Not just the Christmas party. The Christmas bonus for staff of £100 has been stopped and replaced by a £40 M&S voucher

Some people are lucky to get any sort of Christmas bonus. An underperforming and loss making business cutting back is a fairly common thing. While United is a football club it is a multi-billion pound business that is very short on money.

The £100 bonus will likely be taxed to around £70/75 take home pay so in reality the employees are losing £30/£35 since the voucher isn't taxed.

£100 is an insult never mind a voucher. Pull the ladder up Jack and sod the rest.

They clearly want to get rid of more staff but don't want to pay the redundancy money so they are making the working condition's harsher and hoping there will be natural attrition as staff will quit on their own accord. Typical corporate bullshit move. I'm really starting to detest INEOS.

Ok, i know we all hate stereotypes and shit and i apologize in advance if someone will be offended but i can't to not notice one thing;
Glazers (labelled as ruthless American businessmen leechers who love money above everything); club had too many employees who (rumours say) had casual working atmosphere, some worked from home, employees had decent wages and bonusses.

Comes local guy; sacks 250 people, kills all benefits, cuts bonusses and brings fear atmosphere in company.

Funny shit. Well, not for club's employees i guess.

You people should not disregard this saving of £50k or whatever. They know what they are doing!!!!

I get that the club needs to aggressively cut costs, but resorting to penny pinching after bungling many big money decisions makes for horrible optics.

Ratcliffe campaigned for brexit than went off to live in Monaco to avoid tax.

This is a lot more mild than I thought we were going to see.

No one becomes a billionaire without screwing over other people. None of them are nice. If they were, they would notbe billionaires.

This. You just burned 3-4 million on wrong Dof and 25 mil on managers because of wrong decisions. But sacking people who earn 3 k per month will make difference?

They are leeches but obviously didn’t mind other people leeching together with them.

If you sack 250 people who earn that, eventually it will help somewhat.

It's crappy, but if we have a bloated work force and we lose money, then making these cuts make sense.

Also, mistakes regarding the football team and the people who surround it happened before and will happen again, but football is the focal point of a club and will righly hoover up most of the money. Even if we sell players or get rid of players with expensive contracts, we'll go and spend money on transfer fees and wages of new players.

They're certainly making the club seem like a miserable place to work. Morale must be low at the moment.

Yeah people saying it's "necessary" are missing the plot. This isn't a mom and pop local business having to cut costs to survive, it's a global institution cutting off/out low level workers to save what amounts to... wait for it....

.007% of the clubs expenses. This isn't "leaning out the business" as if it's a local HVAC company that a PE firm is trying to make a profit on, but it sure as feck is being treated like one currently.

It’s utterly pointless, I agree. Achieves absolutely nothing except making it even more miserable for people who have already had a stressful year with threats of layoffs, teams being decimated etc.

But never underestimate the importance of the ruthless vibe.

Ratcliffe didn't become a billionaire by being a nice guy.

He's scummy as almost every billionaire is.

All good. I am not even talking about football now.
It is just "funny" (i struggle to find English word for it) that local billionaire, who is raised in classic working family (as i read), buys pride and joy of his town and then first thing which he does; raises unemployment in Manchester. After that he cuts Christmas bonus.

While foreign owners ( "leeching capitalists from America") were employer to wish for. You just can't make that shit up.

This is it. None of the businesses INEOS have taken over before have been anything like as high profile as United. This constant wave of negative press is really eroding the euphoria of the sale which itself was already demonised by not being a full glazers out sale.
All the good stuff is way down the timeline (trophies/new stadium etc) and it’s no wonder morale is way down with both staff and fans.

Ah, already been posted. Two things. 1: That's so stingy and really a pathetic thing to do. 2: That quote is pretty mindless because the Glazers put the club in this position by devouring it alive.

Just playing devils advocate. But is it possible certain members of the squad are leaking against INEOS because INEOS are putting not good enough players up for sale and are maybe not as tolerating as the Glazers ?

There are many things I don’t agree with INEOS on. But the amount of stuff coming out against them… reminds me of when the players had enough of a manager. And we’d all scream “leak”

Disagree. Moral is priceless. I accept cutting staff especially if the organisation was bloated but things like the bonus kills moral amongst people who are already disheartened that colleagues have lost their jobs.

I doubt it, Ineos seem to be doing a good job of making regular staff disgruntled. The players probably aren't even aware of the impact they are having beyond themselves and maybe ticket prices.
