Club ownership | Senior management team talk

You’d think a £40k per year donation to charity would be a tax deductible benefit to the club that would have zero impact on club finances.

I’m far more concerned about what is happening off the field than on the field at the moment, the club is being lost in front of our eyes as we’re all worrying about some dodgy results on the field.
Don't we donate presents to sick and dying kids in hospital? That's another wasted expenditure surely?

If Ratcliffe really care about United he should have made it a condition that the money he invested went towards paying off some of the debt,.instead he filled the Glazers pockets.

And now has started doing their bidding and taking worse decisions on their behalf.
Bingo

Bruno will try to do it out of his own pocket and people will get their wish when he’s rewarded with a January transfer

Man United must be a horrible place to work in right now. I guess this is what all his companies are like. No wonder they call him Doctor No.

Defund the BBC! MUTV
Imagine the horror if INEOS bought the BBC instead of us?

"Later tonight; Sir Jim visits Animal Hosptial and drown all the kittens in a bath. But first, it's time for Match of the Day with Aaron Lennon."

I don't think so. This seems to be a pretty standard job change. Maybe it sende the message that Formula One teams offer better conditions to their cooks, but I can't imagine anyone seeing that as some kindif statement.
Yes but you have to ask what’s the reason he was looking for a new job in the first place? Have conditions and morale become so bad?

^ Backed the winning horse but the winning horse was the wrong choice

'Morally' outraged about an obscure charity being defunded, but happy to shill for a repressive dictatorship.

Any investment fills the Glazer's pockets.

Including our tickets, merch, subscriptions and other expenditure on beloved United. None of it directly sorts our debt.

Qatar's state bid would have seen Woodward pocket £14 million outright. That's Woodward alone. Plenty of other scumwads would fill their boots and leave us with Sportswash FC.

As for sacked staff, it's awful, but they'll recover. Now think of the 'dissidents' Qatar brutalises on a daily basis our success will gloss over.

Neither are good options.

These cnuts are responsible for us being even more shite. I didn't think it could get worse than the Glazers but apparently it can. And to top it off we have the Scouse cnuts down the road equalling #20.

I agree with Noodle on one point, I see no benefit from having SJR. He’s limited in what he can spend on players, so those who think they are gonna chuck around 400m in transfer splurges need serious help.

However as the club is fecked in so many ways, and hands are tied financially, it’s going to take years to unpick this mess and as such, im not going to judge them after 5 months. All I will say is that so far they have been hit and miss. Anyone that thinks they are all hit has got rose tinted glasses on, and those who think they are all miss need to wake up to reality too

Goldbridge is a wanker but if he’s being sincere here then fair play to him! Terrible optics from INEOS yet again, they seem to stoop to new lows every day. Bunch of Tory bastards!

Goldbridge's performative outrage would sway me, it's a laudable gesture, but surely it's what Ratcliffe would want:

The costs taken from the club and a self-made millionaire, who made this fortune on the back of United, to pick up the tab?

Also, Ratcliffe voted Labour in the last election. Which would explain his crusade for terrible optics.

Good optics for Goldbridge, though. What a top dude, innit

That's true, but I believe at this level there are so many possible reasons that I don't think it adds much to this thread. But of course it can be a result of the topics discussed here.

Putting aside all the obvious moral failings of INEOS, it's staggering how little they seem to care about PR/optics. The club is in an absolute state at the moment and all they're doing is making it worse. What tangible benefit does this bring? All it does it create more noise and serve to alienate more of the fanbase.

I don't think Ratcliffe has a clue what he's doing.

But why would glazer’s accept that? They only care about money in their pocket. The Qatari bid came with debt cleared and funds for a new stadium, the glazers didn’t care. They only want maximum return.

I do feel both Ratcliffe and Qatar screwed up by not teaming up. But at the same time two big egos will never end well unless if both sides decided they would hire a CEO to handle commercial, a DoF for football and then stayed out until annual progress meetings

Any chance the Sheikh comes back in for us if Scrooge tanks us any further?
The same Sheikh that nobody had really seen, has only one picture of him (despite apparently being an important figure in royalty and business), and promises as much as a telemarketing scammer?

Agreed with this. They are 50/50 so far. It really is too soon to judge. Of course a lot of the cost cutting measures are extreme and only sabotage morale but on the football side things take time.

I was and still am impressed with and last window, anyone who thinks De Ligt is a waste needs to watch our last 3 matches without. The best CB don’t stand out for great last ditch tackles because 99% of defending is positioning and stopping things becoming last ditch.

I think Jan window will start to sway me in direction or the other, then summer window will make nah INEOS need to go or give them time.

Actual articles or Twitter nonsense? I see their spokesman, the Mails Keegan started the whispers again the other day
I’m not sure mate. I saw an article pop up on Facebook earlier but didn’t take much notice of it as I thought it was bollocks.

I honestly dont understand the logic in a club of our size cutting the skin around the pie instead of sticking the fork straight into it. The cost cutting they're doing makes so little difference, it seems to be coming more from a place of "these people shouldnt be making it" not "we cant afford to pay them this." Its a horribly mean spirited regime they are running, where we stomp to the little guy first before we get around to people who really bleed the club dry.

It’s an utterly pathetic approach. He’s looking at it like a business after a takeover rather than a football club.

I actually think that INEOS will end up being worse than the Glazers.

I couldn't care less about that. Just the football.

Says it all, really.

Not really. Someone funding the charity other than United's coffers would suit Ratcliffe. He likely factored there'd be a fame-hungry supporter to ride in and save the day.

Probably thinks Goldbridge has taken too much from the club, and wants a bit back. The tight squid.

Seems like a pointless takeover because financially we are still screwed.

Not a takeover. Just an investment.

Probably throwing out 'feelers' to see if anything is on. Looking unlikely.

It's just media with the usual slew of 'United Doing Something' articles to fill up the column inches.

If Luton or Palace or Ipswich or another were doing similar, nobody, including us, would care.

Heil's Keegan is practically Qatar's personal journalist on the takeover, and rotten form for United will help sell the notion to desperate sad-sacks.

Tread carefully.

Ok, but what's the point? What's the benefit? It's 40k. The tight cnut probably makes more than that in one day.

Like I said, it just piles on more negativity and bad feeling. I understand he's a billionaire and shit like this is probably how he made his money. But this is a football club, you can't just expect to run it like you would do any other business. It just seems incredibly short sighted.

I wouldn't judge them fully on the football side yet, but I think you can still criticise or be concerned by obviously silly decisions like taking a year to employ someone then sacking them after 3 months. Or sticking with ETH after making it publicly obvious you didnt want to and then sacking him part way through the season. I don't see any reason not to scrutinise things like this which obviously dont help to build a succesful football team. At best they are mistakes/hiccups.

And I think we absolutely can and very definitely should judge them on their treatment of fans and the club, which has been somewhere comfortably below pathetic. I would argue this is the more important factor because it's the future and reputation of our football club they are screwing up. The team will always win some games and lose others. But the rate it's going you'll be paying £150 to see them lose 3-0 to Bournemouth in a half empty OT in a few years time.

I can understand what INEOS has in mind but let me say one thing. God forbid if a Johnny Foreigner bought United and did the same. Can you imagine if some sheikh fired a hundred employees, he raised tickets, he let SAF go and went on cutting the charity things United were involved into?

For all you people who didn’t want Jassim because of questionable things that happen in Qatar, are you happy?

Now your local people are suffering. Loss of jobs, less charity, worse football team.

INEOS are literally crumbling this club to the ground to a point there won’t be a club anymore. But the morale police will be happy.
