Club ownership | Senior management team talk

And rightly so. The free lunches and ex players dinners is minuscule in terms of what we pay Casemiro. United have always treated their people like family and that is no longer the case.

Very true. But you cant cut Casemiro. Not without paying him out for the remaining length of his contract. And as we know, to sell him, you need a buyer and he needs to agree to leave.

If you listen to the interview, he said the club would run out of money at Christmas if cuts were not made.

So the question is, where should the cuts be made?

INEOS are not stupid, they know that cutting free lunches is bad PR. That tells me that they club is in that much shit, that they have to resort to this.

This is where I'm at as well. It's a credit that Radcliffe is publicly facing the music but I don't come out of this thinking Ratcliffe comes across well. My perception of him hasn't really changed.

I still think it's concerning how he is so involved in the footballing decisions, I expect him to rightfully have his opinion but I get the feeling that he's heavily influential in footballing matters which I don't see as a good thing.
re the bolded, I was pleased to hear no mention, unless I missed it, of Brailsford whatsoever.

Does Sir Jim work for DOGE? Because it sounds like he works for DOGE. Billionaires going to billionaire I suppose.

You know Ratcliffe being co-owners with the Glazers is probably contractually bound to not criticize them publicly?

We dont know that.

But what we do know is that they are business partners, with INEOS being in the minority. In no world would a Ratcliffe criticize The Glazers publicly.

We fans would live to hear it, but it doent help moving the club forward in anyway.

SJR is an absolutely disgusting individual, calling our Hojlund is bang out of order. We all know Sancho is a waste of cash, Casemiro discussion a wild one (in other industries the cops would be looking at that deal). PSG offered more cash and wages for Hojlund but because he is a lifelong United fan he came here.

People need to see this longer version of the interview, Neville asks nearly all the tough questions.

The statement about United running out of money in Nov, though a tad alarming, does explain why we are penny pinching. Sad and scary.

We will have a couple of years of this 'frugality' before we - hopefully- get on track on a the field and then on the finances bit.

Long road ahead.

Agree. Plus he has put in $300m of his own money.

I was really impressed by how Ratcliffe in both the Sky and BBC interview backed his manager. Took ownership for mistakes in keeping ETH and hiring Ashworth.

He actually says the club would have "run out of cash" by November, which is true when you look at the accounts. They wouldn't have gone bankrupt but would have had to issue more debt or raise more equity.

Well if Ineos hadn't saved the Glazers they would have been forced to sell the Club. So why the heck did Sir Jim save the Glazers?

I'm 35 minutes in and there's been absolutely zero positivity from a fans pov thus far

Wait till the ticket prices go up yet again in the coming weeks to watch this lot

On this, if he's doing a public interview, I don't think there is any other way to spin it. There's too much information out there on both instances. If he tried to distance himself from the decision or say they were rational decisions he would look ridiculous.

When did he call out Højlund?

No way of knowing. Ratcliffe's response definitely made it seem like there was some degree of discontent behind the scenes - whether with him, or with Berrada and Wilcox.

"Lack of chemistry", i,e, Ashworth was bullied out. Deeply worrying for the future of the club considering everything in sports INEOS have touched has turned to shit very quickly.

Best in class shitehawks.

Neville pressed him. I was shocked.

Sir Jimmy couldn’t say nothing and felt awkward protecting the Glazers.

It comes across like due diligence wasn’t done. Like he wasn’t aware what he was buying into…poor.

I hope they can come good. To think otherwise is a pretty miserable thought, but the last couple of minutes have given me some excitement for what's to come.

I'm clearly in the minority, but I've got a lot of time for Ratcliffe. Literally the only guy on the planet who made an acceptable offer to buy the club. Without him, this club would be seriously fecked. Far worse than the situation currently. He's put in his own money, unlike the Glazers and he's genuinely attempting to correct the mistakes of the past. Yet, he gets criticised. Of course he does.
Nah, the Glazers would have been gone. He is the reason they are still here.

When did he call out Højlund?
He didn't call him out per se but he name checked him with players the club has spent a lot of money on. Maybe he didn't mean it that way but it came across like him talking about how wasteful United have been with buying players.

Interesting perspective suggesting Amorim is doing a good job based on the salary of the current ‘available’ squad

With majority of top earners either out on loan or not having played for two years.

It is a valid point to be fair.

Agreed. He could've easily ducked the interview, but choose to deal with some of the surprisingly tough questions head on.

I think his stance on the Glazers was appropriate. He can't come out and say they are useless but it's clear that he believes they have been negligent owners. It's a little bit of a cop out but given his position, I think it's unreasonable for him to say much more on the Glazers.

I think keeping ETH was a rational decision at the time. Most fans wanted to keep him post the FA Cup final and when compared to the available options. The press finding out that United were looking for other managers was a huge mistake.

Plus, no one was complaining when Ashworth was hired.

The mistake may have been not to get Berrada in place first and let him build out the team.

Definitely doesn't come across great but i think he meant we are still paying for these players every summer because they all had big price tags and we are paying in installments. So we are still "buying players" without buying them this summer. We have to pay 17m for Sancho this summer still, despite us selling him to Chelsea. We still have to pay Inter for Onana, still have to pay Ajax for Antony, and so on. All situations that they inherited.

Actually good to see Gary going in on SJR re the 40k to players from long time ago.

And both his suggestions were sensible and quite obvious. Wouldn’t be surprised to see

It was reported by the Athletic that Ashworth suggested the likes of Frank and Potter but when it came to making the argument for hiring them over Amorim, Ratcliffe found him unconvincing and Berrada made the better argument for hiring Amorim. Just doesn't seem like Ashworth was on the same page as Berrada and Wilcox.

The press want headlines, they want to talk about the kitchen staff not the £175k a year body language coach.

Have a look at the times journalist interview on talk sport.

Agree on the point regarding Berrada, they effectively picked a team for a new CEO. At the same time he didn't officially until the summer, so there is no perfect solution. Do nothing and wait for him to come in and they are criticised for being slow.

Yeah that's what it feels like. There was also speculation that Ratcliffe wasn't impressed by Ashworth's transfer suggestions. Obviously, the manager issue would've probably caused a lot of discontent among the execs.
