Club ownership | Senior management team talk

Isn't the debt still something disgusting like 730 million?! Seems like it hasn't decreased in years.

If they're that worried about cost cutting, perhaps they could focus on clearing some of the debt, for crying out loud.
Don't they have to refinance in 2027? Wonder what that will do for the numbers.

By all means talk about crashing out of Europa when it actually happens, until then maybe edit this post
We are already regretting it, match against Fulham, Sociedad and Arsenal in all three matches we had great chances and better striker than Hojlund or option of the bench except Obi. We would have scored and gotten ourselves into Fa cup Quarters, would be leading by a goal or two against Sociedad, similarly would have won against Arsenal 3-1 at least. I am hoping we shithouse our way to Europa League.

“The club is also preparing to announce plans that could see "the most iconic football stadium in the world" being built to replace the existing stadium, as part of a wider regeneration scheme.

An announcement is expected on Tuesday.”

Think Gary did a good job here. Expected a load of softball questions but he really pushed Jim and asked some tough questions of him. Fair play

Watching it now.
Ruben critics....He is not going anywhere anytime soon.
Glad he has the backing from Ineos and they recognize what he has to work with.
The club is going thru a cultural change on and off the pitch and it's not going to be an easy fix.

That's interview does give me some more confidence but in many ways it's hard to understand how we are in the situation we are in but are planning to build the world's best stadium.

How could we possibly deal with increasing our debt from 1 billion to potentially over 3 billion.

How will we possibly be able to service that? It seems impossible as long as the Glazers are here.

Am I missing something?

He says Amorim is doing a good job but i disagree with him.
This Team finished 8th and won the FA cup so I really don’t understand what he means there.
The whole world can see that this team has underachieved under Amorim this season.
This season has been a right off but hopefully they get it right next season.

Can’t decide whether it’s right that Amorim isn’t left on his own to field the difficult redundancy questions - or whether it’s a case of stfu big sir Jim.

Announcement on the stadium coming tomorrow apparently - that’ll follow with ticket price rises confirmed not long after.

What are they always 'iconic'? Anything conceived of by Foster is fecking 'iconic' even when it looks like a badly put together portaloo.

Gary Neville wasting an interview questioning the manager and never questioning the debt and his relationship with the rat Glazers. And worrying that Jim things the protests were because of the results and Gary didn’t correct him or mention the debt and the state of the clubs finances.

Edit: my bad, didn’t realise there was more to the interview than this clip showed. Not my brightest moment. Apologies. Glad Neville brought up the Glazers and the debt and asked him some tough questions. Worrying that neither Jim or anyone else thought of fundraising for former players fund.

It’s all PR. Neville is part of project Gold Trafford, he will no longer question the Glazers and won’t ever start to question Ratcliffe so long as he’s a part of that. Then you consider the clout Neville has over other ex United players. It really is a political & PR masterpiece by the Glazers and their henchmen INEOS

He literally just did.

While I don't disagree with what he said about them but was it wise to name check Casemiro, Hojlund and Onana to the media just before important knock out European game?

23:30 of the Sky Interview, Ratcliffe confirms Marc Armstrong started work last week from PSG

Thought all he was doing was listing the players we still owe money on transfer payments for, which is valid when we're talking about summer transfer window plans/budget at it amounts to near £80m in bills

Perhaps watch the interview before making nonsensical comments? He literally did ask some very tough questions about the Glazers and the debt.

Halfway though. Gary asking some time questions and i think Jim is answering fairly.

Feels like his is backing Ruben 100%.

Gary seems to have a bee in the bonnet about free lunches and the ex-players dinner.

That’s exactly what he was doing. He was referring to the fact that they still have “buy” them this summer, ie settle the payments. He was then asked if they were not good enough which he refrained to acknowledge.

I think Ratcliffe came out of that pretty well. The club needs an ‘open heart surgery’ and especially when it comes to the finances. Increasing ticket prices and removing free lunches looks bad, but to change the spending culture you really have to draw a strict line.

He doesn’t question/mention the debt/Glazers at all? I’m in transit so not had the chance to watch it yet, but this clip came across my timeline and it gave me the impression he went into it:

I watched the clip that was posted here and thought that was the entirety of it. I didn’t realise there was more on YouTube. Just finished watching now. Still think he shouldn’t have let him away with the comment on the protests being about league positions. But yes, he did mention the glazers in the full video

What would you’ve said if you were him? Slag the current manager? You think that’d be a good idea?

Also, have you seen the state of the match day squads lately, and the level of PL experience that the average United player has these days?

Not to mention, he came in mid season in a seriously dysfunctional squad, with no time to train the squad to adapt to his completely different style.

Regulate your expectations a bit perhaps.

I agree.

Im glad we have a (part) owner at least answering the tough questions.

You know Ratcliffe being co-owners with the Glazers is probably contractually bound to not criticize them publicly?

Only 10 minutes in and not sure what I think yet. Very honest interview so far but not sure what I think

Talking about the management team making decisions but still clearly having a big influence on everything. He should just say that he is part of that decision making team.

Agree. He made a great point re Amoim not having many of his top paid players available.

Now, we can argue if those players should be the top paid players, but they are and that is where a huge chunk of our money has gone. Others decided to invest heavily in Mount, Rashford, Sancho and Antony.

And as you say, he aint going to slag off Amorim, nor The Glazers for that matter.

Yeah, I know. I said I didn’t like that he suggested the protests were about league positions. He didn’t acknowledge what they were about. That’s not necessarily criticizing Glazers, it’s just acknowledging the fans are unhappy with ownership, the dept and the way the club has been run. He said as much when questioned later by Neville on the Glazers. So felt it was very disingenuous to suggest the reason for protests was because we were performing badly on the pitch.
