Considering that any consultancy option was put in place during negotiations by Woodward and Judge to help Murtough as sporting director, I don't think Ten Hag got a say.

Always hard to tell fact from fiction where the media are concerned, but pretty much every single mainstream printed media stated that Ten Hag was the one who didn't want Rangnick involved with the club anymore and, indeed, refused to take advice (or even a meeting) with Rangnick. So yes, if the United hierarchy are now taking advice from Rangnick, I'd say that really is the final nail in the coffin for ETH.

It's not a stretch considering Woodward (therefore the Glazers) believed in renewing contracts of sellable players to retain value.

That doesn’t really have any correlation to what’s being discussed and isn’t unique to United.

Was not ETH and he wouldn’t have had a say. Rangnick didn’t have a good relationship with Rashford and the club wanted not only to keep him but tie him down long term. Its more likely it was a club decision to keep supposedly important players onside. (obviously my opinion) Rangnick was also unpopular with the fans.

I have before and found nothing. Not trying to defend the incompetence of the Glazer’s but this seems to be something the fan base lapped up as a fact when there’s no credible source saying it.

I completely agree with this opinion. Rangnick staying on at consultancy was a Murtough level decision to make because it was Murtough that would have been using his services as a consultant. He wasn't going to be an assistant to Ten Hag.
 
It quite obvious they have made up their mind if to keep Ten Hag or not. i think he is as good as gone
 
I'm sure in one of the interviews from last week, Ratcliffe briefly stated that they were going to speak/put something out there this week. Think it had to do with their plans surrounding the stadium. Will be interesting.
 
Share price is gradually falling down to the levels it was before the takeover news.

Why would they do either? Perfect scenario for them is what’s happening now - they get a chance to assess the actual club/structure and have a manager in place who they probably view as expendable if he doesn’t get us into the CL.

Huh? He had a two hour phone call with Rangnick to discuss his findings and opinions during his tenure. Erik was in Amsterdam and Rangnick was back in Germany hence the meeting on call rather than in person. If you type "phone call with Rangnick ten Hag" on Google, the first thing that pops up is:

"But Telegraph Sport understands that the pair spoke for around two hours on the phone after Rangnick had returned to Germany and Ten Hag to Amsterdam. Rangnick has claimed that United's squad require the equivalent of open heart surgery and had been keen to present his findings to Ten Hag."

Brailsford or anyone meeting with Rangnick has absolutely nothing to do with Eriks position as manager, nor does it give a hint, a whisper, an indication. Simply and absolutely nothing.

I can't think of any players that are available that would make any significant difference to be honest.

Always two sides to every story. The press consensus was that the phone call was a snub from Ten Hag (as Rangnick had wanted to meet with ETH who refused).

I think Ratcliffe’s first mistake was his wishywashy answer on whether ten Hag has a future or not. Maybe too honest. The manager needs to have absolute authority amongst the squad and that authority comes from above him. Even if it’s not true and the plan is to replace him at the end of the season regardless of how well he does, you come out strongly backing him and make it clear to the players that it’s their future they are playing for, not his. That gives you the best chance of them keeping their levels up and getting top 4 plus cup runs.

They’re not going to get a true reflection of the state of management and playing staff given the inherent uncertainty the sale has caused.
 
Top 4 and an FA Cup win, playing like we have all season, with the signings he's encouraged, doesn't count as a good season anymore. It would be papering over the massive massive cracks.
 
Yeah the season is a write off if ten Hag isn’t going to be backed. Rashford has already checked out because he wants a manager that will indulge him.

Yes but if the option is either do as they have - non committal whilst doing a deep dive into the club and drawing up their plan - or try and hire someone to come it o what they already think is a mess. The first option is definitely better.

The reality is there are a tonne of coaches who could probably do ok for us, there aren’t really that many coaches (I’d argue there aren’t any at all) who can consistently challenge if there’s dross recruitment. I don’t think Ineos have finalised what they want to see on the pitch though so that also makes it hard to find a manager.
 
We'll be able to put 'winning the FA cup' to bed tomorrow! And based on the previous 7 months performance, we are not winning all our remaining games so in my eyes top 5 is done as well. Amy other reasons to keep ETH?
 
I think the Derby is a free hit for him, if he survives Forrest. The acid test have to be the games like Fulham were we are expected to win. Everton at OT will be the game in we’re his fate will be sealed.

I dont think INEOS are operating like that, I think they will already know and it looks like they will remove him from post.

The clearest indication will be if talks of a new contract happen, the public statements from INEOS do not sound good but were not used to how these guys operate yet. That could be as committal they get.

Getting rid of Rashford would be my priority, personally. The advice I'd give would be, if Rashford can bail on ETH, who is to say he won't bail on the manager INEOS chooses.

I don't. We get hammered again like the 7-0 against Liverpool and it will destroy our season and be the end of him.
