I'm dubious as it's Luckhurst but it's clear the squad needs tearing up root and stem, we need to somehow do that whilst also not completely fecking it up like Chelsea did. We've got some very difficult decisions to make regarding Fernandes and Rashford IMO.

I'll believe this when I see it, we've wanted to strip the squad nearly every summer for years and it never happens the way we want, so yeh, not sure on this at all.
One of our biggest issues is seemingly every manager we hire wants to give the lads a clean slate, despite the fact quite a few obviously don't deserve one.

Yeh exactly, there's so many players that should've been sold during different summers and they still continue to stink the place out how many managers later? So frustrating.

I'd move Rashford on personally becasue I just don't think he justifies his wage. I think we could replace his current output for considerably less.

The way Rashford is playing this season I think if we played Amad every game instead the output would be considerably better

Hopefully not just hollow PR after another limp display. That article on the previous page talked about Brailsford being ruthless, let’s see what he’s actually made of. They basically have unlimited resources behind them to build a fresh dynamic and driven football team over the next few years. They can take a hit on players. Players who train badly, phone it in during matches or who just aren’t good enough for CL football should be the first out the door, recoup what you can, admit it’s been nowhere near good enough and start from scratch again.

Not really, Jose and ETH have wanted to get rid of certain players but the board failed to get rid of them.

Know this going to sound wild but think we would be a better team without both of them. However think it's highly unlikely that either gets sold in the summer.

Logical decisions being made, we just ain't used to them happening so an entire fanbase remains cautious until proven otherwise.

For the first time, in a long time, I believe we are ready to make huge strides in cleaning up the culture of this club, the leaping off point has always been to purge the squad as much as possible within the realms of realism. Let go the higher earners with dwindling contracts, maybe sell an asset or two to Saudi, get rid of the fringe squad players that have been here too long and possibly also be prepared to go backwards (on paper) to go forwards by selling a big name or two.

Selling Rashford shouldn't be a difficult decision at all. The bigger question is who would pay big money for him in his current wretched form.

SAF always ship players after few seasons to ensure everyone stays hungry. One of the reason why we became we stagnant is we stop shipping this prima donnas and replace with hungrier players. You can see in his body language, he think he made it already,

Believe it when I see it. I refuse to believe the previous management were so utterly clueless they weren't able to also do this. Even the caf can probably make a decent list of players to sell + a reasonable price for them.
The previous management was very reactive with transfers, usually waiting for other clubs to come in with interest instead of proactively working with agents to shop players around. They also had a tendency to only start transfer activity toward the end of the season, rather than year-round, hence we were always playing catch-up with ins and outs.

Journalists will be churning out endless rubbish leading up to the summer.

Writing about INEOS is the easiest job in the world, made even easier with the expanding cast of names being hired behind the scenes.

Yeah a ruthless club sells the pair of them

Yep and gets a cool 100m+ to play with. People act like it’s this brutal decision like we are selling a couple of club legends in their prime when arguably two of the most important sales Fergie ever made was shipping Beckham and Van Nistleroy out (who were both far better/more successful than Bruno and Rashford have ever been)

ETH should've read the dossier

We don't actually know this though, it's just assumed because our sales weren't great. If there's a shred of evidence to back this up, I would genuinely like to see it.

The reasons why selling those players back then was not a problem was cause we had plenty of quality players in the squad that could fill the void after them. Ruud was sold for half of what we paid for him as well, we didn't make a savvy choice to sell and reinvest the funds from him.

Who in our current squad starts instead of Bruno/Marcus?

Get RR back in that consulting roll they talked about.

Until I see Rashford and Bruno out, we're going nowhere. Especially if Rashford sticks around, weighs heavy on the wage structure and takes up a space for a productive player, all the while playing politics behind the scenes.

Many people freaked out at the time of the RVN sale because we did NOT have another striker of that caliber in the squad and instead Fergie bet on the development of Rooney/Ronaldo as 20 year olds as well as the overall team play dynamic improving.

My entire point is that we’d be selling “important players” that didn’t come close to the heights of those mentioned above for fees in which you could clearly replace both without much trouble. Rashford has averaged 1 G/A every 2 games in his United career and has been the worst of our 3 forwards this year while offering absolutely nothing out of possession. Bruno’s deficiencies have been discussed ad nauseum but either way it’s clear that he doesn’t work in a midfield/structure that isn’t clearly built around him. The team dynamic would improve by subtracting both even if you possibly miss some of Bruno’s creativity in the final third initially (and again, you’d be selling both while they still have name value)

Yeah both should be right near the top of exits list with Casemiro and Varane but fear they won't be

It's just sensationalist from them to post about this again now.
It wasn't long ago it was reported that Brailsford had reached out to and talked many of our ex employees to get their take on things, incl. Rangnick.

It's not like he called him up only after this weekends result.

I'm aware yes, I posted that tweet it this thread.

You may be aware, but you didn't mention that context when you posted this now.

And my comment was mostly for those replying to you that seemed to think the timing of this now was bad news for Ten Hag.

It’s not that deep.
