Claudio Marchisio

We're not going to get Marchisio. It's one of those links that the papers resort to when they have nothing else to go on.

Marota confirmed that we are interested on him. I don't think that we'll sign him but it isn't an impossible task. Juve is a club who generally sell when they receive good offers, and Pogba now seems to be a better player than him.

Seriously, have you ever seen him playing or your opinion is based on EPL better than everything else? I think that only Carrick, Yaya, Ramsey and possibly Wilshere are currently better/on that level of him.

Henderson is a good player who has proved his doubters wrong but Marchisio is better than him on practically everything.

Ignore him, he has absolutely no idea what he is talking about if his comparison is Jordan Henderson.

I find it tough to believe that Henderson is better than Marchisio. I don't actually know much about him to be honest, but he's looked good the few times I've seen him for Italy and Juve. Henderson, really?

Well he's been marginalised with the emergence of Pogba, but hes still far better than what we have. All a question of money. He's 27 and Juventus' 4th best CM, if we make another huge transfer offer for him it'd be nuts

He played every single minute of the Euro 2012, but yes he is worse than Jordan Henderson, urgh

Is there any better alternative though? Koke and Herrera aren't better than him at the moment, though in long term they may be (and they are younger than him). They will also cost a bit more than him. Gundogan is better but mroe expensive and BVB probably don't want to sell. Cabaye isn't as god as him.

Koke is better than him in general, but I havent seen much of him centrally so a direct comparison in CM I'm not sure of. But Koke is definitely the better player.

One other issue, other than fee and injuries in the last 18 months, is that he never plays in a 2 man midfield. Its only an issue if we arent moving to a 4-3-3, in which he'd be best suited and perhaps thats where Moyes sees Fellaini finally fitting in. If bought him and plopped him next to Carrick or Fellaini in a duo I doubt we'd see him do what he was best at when in form a while ago, joining up with the front players, helping create chances and get shots on target

What? He's their 4th choice CM, thats a toppy bid if ever there was one. He's not in the same form he was a couple of seasons ago

You say he's 4th choice like he is a huge step down from the other 3. Granted he's not at their level right now, but he is still a great midfielder, and Juve won't want to sell for £20 million unless they really didn't need him or he was extremely frustrated about his game time. I would be utterly amazed if they accepted a £20 mil offer, if the time ever arrives.

If not now then when? He's 27. The prime of his career. And the only reason Juventus need him is because they play 3 cms, one in his 30s, so they need a good backup and he is that. If they sell him it'll be because his injuries are a concern and he doesnt want to be a backup.

If he was the player of a few seasons ago, without the injury issues and with better form you'd expect that he, Vidal and Pogba would be Juventus' priority building a side around those 3 in midfield. Instead its still grand daddy Pirlo and they might let Marchisio go.

If we could get him for £20-25 million, he doesn't have any more injury issues and recaptures the form of 18 months ago then it'd be a great signing but when you're signing a player out of form, playing a squad role and with injuries then its a gamble. Thats why he's worth nowhere near what he would have been at his best a while ago

he is not going anywhere, staying in Turin. other players (who are no use to us) are going to leave and there is a chance, that PSG are going to come in with a big money offer for Pogba.

To be fair he's got to compete with Pirlo (Italian own version of Scholes), Vidal and Pogba. I don't think that he's better then Pogba. Its just that Pogba is younger and its time for Marchisio (who was promised captain ship) to, well, you know the drift.

He would excel in a two man midfield also I reckon, I know im basing that on nothing, but I feel he could

Remind you of anyone?

I like him, always have. And he would obviously improve our options in the middle. I don't think he's the sort of player we should overpay for, though. If he actually wants away and Juve are willing to consider a decent offer - yes, go for it. But I wouldn't want us to pry him away from there with exorbitant offers.

Pretty much this. He'd still improve us massively, but he isn't worth smashing any records for. If we can splash £35-40 million to get a Gundogan or whoever we should.

Marchisio aint that good? Yeah ok I believe you and the low grade acid your taking (send me on some will ya). He is in fact quite a good player. Might not be the very top tier of midfielder but he would be a hell of an upgrade on some of the shite we have seen over the last while and he would actually be a good partner for Carrick.

I agree. He isn't the most polished of players, but what he offers is great mobility and a high workrate. He chips in with a few goals too. I think the fact he is not up there alongside the most creative of midfielders is why fans don't want him. He would work well with Carrick. Rooney is already our main creator.

p.s I don't see him leaving Juventus though. He's been there so long.

If we're going to make one of these sort of signings (not the real top quality we need but at least better than all/most of our current options) then, from what I've seen, Marchisio would be a better bet than Cabaye. Or am I wrong?

Not convinced that's the sort of signing we should make though, unless we're planning a purge in the summer.

I would assume for the really top mf players to join us we'll have to make some improvements first. If we can raise our standard with a player like this then we become more attractive for the top top lads.

some juve fans say he can t play in a midfield of 2,others say he can. The impression i got is that juve don't really want to sell marchisio but if the right offer comes in,they might be tempted to cash in,especially if nani is part of the deal. (they are also trying to swap vucinic with nani).
Convincing marchisio to move does not look easy though

He's for sure better than Cabaye and I don't think that it is even close. Cabaye is a bigger thug though.

Like most Italian players they rarely leave home.

Moyes at the game today and Marchisio just scored a piledriver from about 35 yards. Keeper could of done better but still a quality strike.

I really doubt we sign players based on one wonder strike.

Marchisio is a quality player who I doubt wants to leave Juventus and I doubt Juventus want to see leave.

I also doubt Moyes would be so naive and think "ooh, that was a nice goal, we must sign him". Either we have been interested in signing him or not.

I would be concerned about signing a player in his late twenties from Serie A - not sure if he would settle into Premiership games quick enough.

true but that goal must have surely improved the opinion over him.

I'm hoping he is on the "always interested in him" side, because I think he is a great player, and I had this opinion for a while. He must be keeping an eye out for both him and Vidal, I just think it's greedy of Juve to have all of these great CMs in their team. Marchisio would be the cheaper of the two, but harder to get funnily enough.

Good strike but the keeper should never be letting that one in.
