Claudio Marchisio

MONEY

Juventus needs money to buy a top striker and they dont have the funds. Vidal-Pogba-Pirlo are good enough so Marchisio can be sold.

Believe me, Juventus are that ruthless. Just ask Vialli, Ravanelli, Roberto Baggio and in a certain extent Del Piero.

Juce fights in all fronts and use three in midfield. They need four quality midfielders to make all of them fresh. The only way for them to ship one of those 4 midfielders is if they buy Verati.

I wish I had your confidence but given Marchisio is a Juve product wouldn't it be easier to pry away Vidal?

Vidal is much better anyway. Most likely Juve's best player this season.

.

Juventus has a much smaller transfer budget then we have + they desperately needs a top striker. At 27, this is the last chance they got to sell Marchisio for top dollar and as stated before Pogba has shown alot of potential.

I agree that this is not the ideal situation. However if a 30m offer is given to them then I seriously doubt that they would refuse it.

Heard that there's rumours Juve have turned down 40 mill from Bayern for Vidal.

Bayern are going full muppet. Don't know why they need him though, they have a top team and probably a talented player like Kross would be a reserve next season.

I agree, wish we'd gotten him when he was going for £11M from Leverkusen. Still, I would be happy if we got Marchisio.

That's overkill given the duo they already have in there.

Why Bayern have so much money? They have a lower revenue than us, Madrid and Barca but they are acting like PSG/City/Chelsea. Is this fecking debt the difference why we can't spend like them?

Carrick Marchisio would be an absolute steel of a midfield.

The difference in turnover was ~20mil in 11/12. They don't have an owner, they can invest everything they earn (I think they still have to pay back some of the money for their stadium though - Hoeneß once said that they can spend €~25mil a season more in around five years because of that). They also have their famous 'Festgeldkonto' their bank account which in which they set aside some money every season. It is pretty much some sort of war chest which they keep as a reserve for transfers. A couple of months ago €~125mil were supposed to be on that account.
So Messi aside they probably really could finance any transfer they want to with their own money.

However the Marchisio and Vidal rumours are afaik from before this season when they decided that they needed another CM (before they got Martinez for that spot).

Probably part debt and part self restraint. If we can get a young promising player or a more established player we're more likely to take the former option but we have money to buy relatively big every now and again, though wages are another matter.

We do spend around 40m-50m on interest payments every year so if we were debt free we could theoretically buy a new marquee signing every summer.

Yep. The debt is a killer, but hopefully by 2017 it will be as good as gone.

We still pay 70 odd million in debt repayments, that's a world class midfielder and wages every year :(

Where do people get these outlandish debt interest figures?

Our present debt and interest levels are roughly £350m and 8.5% respectively - giving an annual interest payment of about £30m.

Finance costs listed in the accounts are not identical with interest payments. They include increases in the debt caused by movements in the pound exchange rate with the dollar and other costs. And they're mostly theoretical, or unrealised, in accountancy jargon. No money flows in or out of the club as a consequence of these costs. Only when the debt is being repayed will they matter. And since some of our sponsorships are now denominated in dollars - the new deal with Chevrolet, for instance - our income in dollars now compensates for changes in the value of the dollar.

Italian giants Juventus have reiterated that midfielder Claudio Marchisio is not for sale forcing Manchester United to end their pursuit of the Italian international, Sky Sports reports.

The Premier League champions have been rumoured to be interested in the 27-year-old for some time now and were thought to be preparing a summer bid to take him to Old Trafford. French big spenders Monaco were also credited with an interest, but they have just brought in Porto’s James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho, as well as Radamel Falcao from Atletico Madrid.

However, the pair’s interest could all be futile anyway as Juventus’ general manager Giuseppe Marotta told Sky Italia: ”Our goal is not to sell but to strengthen the team.”

“Marchisio has Juventus DNA and the player’s will is influential.”

The player himself, who is an academy graduate of the club, has also moved to wave away the rumours.

“I want to stay at Juventus,” he told Tuttosport.

“I would like to continue battling for and winning with the club in which I grew up in.”

Marchisio first broke into the Juventus first team in 2006, and aside from a season long loan with Empoli a year later he has gone on to make over 200 appearances for The Old Lady.

Cross another CM off the list.

Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has admitted he is flattered by reported interest from Manchester United and Monaco.

The Premier League champions are in the market for a central midfielder and have been linked with a move for the Italy international. Meanwhile, big-spending Monaco, who are looking to challenge 2012/13 Ligue 1 champions Paris St Germain next season, have also been tracking the 27-year-old.

Marchisio is presently on national duty at the FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil but has confirmed he will return to discuss his future with the Bianconieri. He revealed he could make a summer exit if he was unconvinced by their plans for him.
"I will have to talk to Juventus. I want to see if I'm still important for them. If not, then it is only normal for me to look at other teams. It has been said that my intentions are decisive, but it takes two to tango," Marchisio pointed out.
"Eventual offers from Manchester United or Monaco make me proud, but nobody has called me. Now I am focusing on the Confederations Cup and after that I'll understand what's real and what isn't," the midfielder stressed.

A product of Juventus' youth academy, Marchisio can operate either as an anchorman or an attacking midfielder and can even play on the flanks if needed. He is known for his work rate, vision, link-up play, dribbling and long-range shots. He made 38 appearances in all competitions for the club last season, notching eight goals and four assists.
The Juventus star, who is set to feature in an advanced role for Italy against Mexico, in Cesare Prandelli's 4-3-2-1 system, has labelled the tournament in Brazil a dress rehearsal for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
"Prandelli's philosophy remains the same, so whether I play a few metres further in front or behind makes little difference. I am accustomed to changing position and the coaches I work with know my versatility," Marchisio said.
"The Confederations Cup is a dress rehearsal for the World Cup, but it remains a very important tournament. We must follow up the excellent Euro 2012 performance, while we are also testing ourselves in the climate we'll see next year," the Italian added.

Thiago and Marchisio reinforcing the midfield

If Moyes did this I would love him already

He's changed his tune. He said something along the lines of "I grew up here, why would I leave when we've started doing really well again" not too long ago

IF Moyes did this, I would let him bang you at least three times a week. Would be an amazing transfer window.

I expect Marchisio would be concerned if Conte appears to favour Vidal and Pogba over him (does seem that was becoming the case), and Pirlo is still around too.

Marchisio would be an excellent acquisition, I'd prefer him over the likes of Strootman, Fabregas and Alcantara.

I love all these rumours, yet we really know feck all what Moyes' thoughts are! (I just hope it ain't Fellaini!)

Basically, Marchisio is talking about Monaco and United based on things reported in the media (because no one called him, he says). Which is utterly meaningless.

Sorry but it reeks of a guy after an improved contract. I wouldn't read much into it. F*cking Monaco lol.

Think the Lampard comparisons are correct really, his role in the Juve team is to get forward and get in the box and score. Does a great job at it too.

He's not even near as explosive as Lampard.

Never heard explosive and Lampard being used in the same sentance before

The way he ghosts into the box is very similar though. He is definitely not a Carrick type midfielder anyway.

He's Italian, so he must be more technical.

If that hit a nerve then hes the much less technical but more defensive minded version of paul scholes. Happy now?

I think Carrick is the best comparision to Marchisio. He's a box to box midfielder who can cover nearly all roles in CM. He's technical and can score goals which means he can do well as AM. He's a great passer of the ball and he's pretty creative which makes him a great play maker and he knows his stuff regarding defending and tackling which makes him good enough to cover the defensive duties. I think that playing him as an enforcer would be a bit of an overkill (and a waste) however, in my opinion, he would be a great partner for Carrick. They can swiftly change roles and would provide the ideal quality backing for someone whose more attacking minded such as Alcantara.

I cant see him leading the defensive duties in CM as Carrick does however he compensate to that by being slightly more creative and a better passer of the ball. (I am not criticizing Carrick)

Unless he asks to move himself I can't see Juventus selling him. A top central midfielder, Italian, home grown.

Would most likely be a great signing.
