City withdraw Kaka bid - report
Withdrawal claimed, but assistant boss says deal is 'very close'

Kaka: City link over?

Manchester City have withdrawn their bid for AC Milan star Kaka, according to reports emanating from the Middle East.

Serie A giants Milan confirmed on Wednesday that they had met with a City delegation on Tuesday regarding their interest in Kaka.

It was claimed in the media that the Eastlands side were ready to offer a staggering £100million for the Brazilian's signature.

Kaka, though, moved to pledge his long-term future to the Rossoneri, although it was suggested a potential deal could still be struck.

But on Thursday, arabianbusiness.com, who broke the story of the Manchester City takeover, claimed that the Abu Dhabi-owned club have now ended their interest in 26-year-old and moved onto another target.

A source told arabianbusiness.com: "The deal is off, and the offer is no longer on the table.
'Very close'

"The club is now pursuing another striker which it is very close to signing. Manchester City is about to unveil a new striker, but he is not called Kaka.

"They won't be getting any money from Manchester City; the club is now talking to someone else and the offer is not there anymore."

The source added: "For that [a deal] to happen AC Milan would have to come forward and say they want to sell the player."

However, City assistant manager Mark Bowen has been quoted as saying that a move is 'very close'.

Bowen said: "We have understood there have been negotiations for a fair while now and as far as we are concerned we believe a deal is very close."

If Kaka has a brain surely he'd wait until the end of the season?

Not going to be much fun being the richest footballer in the world if suddenly you're stuck playing for Manchester City in the English first division, because no one else can afford you.

If he waits, and they stay up, he can sign knowing there'll likely be a host of similar players following suit

"The club is now pursuing another striker which it is very close to signing. Manchester City is about to unveil a new striker, but he is not called Kaka.

Maybe Bellamyhino?

Or Adriano. Some weeks ago the Italian Press were claiming that Inter were trying to offload him because he fell out with Mourinho.

So now Kaka is apparently about to do something really kind and generous, and Ronaldo is a cnut because he wouldn't do something like that (i.e. accept 5 times higher wages at small-time club).

No.

feck, you people are looking desperately for some Ronaldo-slight.

Ronaldo being selfish and ambitious is in this case a good thing.

Kaka is couching this in kind-and-generous and being pushed out (allegedly) and thus being willing to do it to save his beloved club.

I don't know how much of that is true. That's a hell of a lot of money.

He can take his Jesus Christ preaching and shove it up his arse for a start.

No one who makes a half a million pound a week for kicking a ball while little children are starving all over the world has any right to try to act all self-righteous towards the rest of us 'normal' folk.

You're about 24 hours behind the curve here.

Ha, fake as feck.

See the odds have shortened on him staying. Should've put the money on him staying.

Manchester City's bid to sign Kaka could be set to take a new twist with the Daily Star reporting that they will look to appoint AC Milan's Carlo Ancelotti as manager over the summer.
dont you just love shite paper talk

Prediction of failure? Is my guess.

I get it now.
I can't see Kaka being a flop. Shevchenko was almost reluctant to sign for Chelsea, he and his family loved Milan and had trouble speaking English even though his wife is American. They only communicated via Italian. Shevchenko was also in a team of big names there, the only competitor at City for Kaka in that respect would be Robinho, but even then he would far outshine him reputation-wise. Kaka speaks English and has a few Brazilians at City, plus the Portugese speaking contingent from United living in the same city would no doubt be a bonus of friendship. There weren't many Ukraine or Italian speakers at Chelsea.

Can't see Kaka turning them down :(

City will use their money to show their ambition and draw comparisons with Chelsea. Kaka turning them down would be a great message to all other top class players.

It is very easy to sit there and say that mate but if these numbers are true I'm sure Milan will be nudging him towards the door and for the kind of salary he might be getting it would be madness to turn it down.

Can I just point out also, this is not Kaka asking for 500K per week (if true) this money is being flashed at him.
If some manager from another company approached me and offered me five-ten times my salary at a less prestigious office, I'd have to take it. Different scenario but same ethics....

This is what I can't understand, not just with Kaka but with most prem players.

If I had £10million in the bank...while on £150k a week (Guess), why would I need another £10million?

Maybe you'd want to provide for as many future generations of your family as possible? So your great-great-great grandkids wouldn't have to worry about money, as opposed to just your great-grandkids.

Spot on, even if that office you were in gave you your first chance and trained you up you would still walk out. People will question Kaka's loyalty but I bet if they were footballers the vast majority of people even if they were at the club they supported since they were a child would walk out on them if someone came in and quadruped your salary. Sitting behind a computer screen and talking about how much you love your club and how you would never leave the club you loved is one thing but if in the same position as Kaka they would leave even if it is your main rivals who want your services. End of the day it is a job for them and you will look to bring in as much as you can from your job and that is what he would be doing by joining Man City.

The only thing that worries me is a lot of players will have their heads turned and start demanding more from their clubs, we are in bad financial times and for many clubs they will really start to feel the pinch and for many clubs getting tickets to matches is becoming a lot easier, you worry about putting food on the table first and then worry about getting to footy matches. While that happens you have this Man City and Kaka nonsense, clubs imo should be capped as to how much they can spend, it has to be proportional to their income or football is just going to become a game for the billionaires and if you have backed by some super rich guy you do well otherwise you suffer.

This is what I can't understand, not just with Kaka but with most prem players.

You make it out as if £10mill is a huge sum, to me and you yes it is but in the real world there are many for whom that is just pocket change. The more money you make the more you want, you can never have enough money. Your spending habits change and for footballers they have a 10-15 year window to make as much as they can because after their income will drop by quite a lot. Like I said you can never have enough money....

Calm down boy, money ain't all that. Watch Kaka say 'no'.

Coming from a person who I'm guessing doesn't have much ;)

Yes I'd love to see Kaka say no but if these £300k a week rumours are true he isn't going to say no.

+ the amount of money the people around him well be getting, I bet if his father, agent, brother, etc, etc, is really pushing for a move, its going to have an affect on him

Shevchenko came out and said his family eventually wanted to settle in America and amongst his reasons for signing with Chelsea were to learn English and all.

With that kind of money spent for one player City could sign up the top 25-30 teenager players in the world, bring the ones that can get work permits to England and loan the others out for a couple years. They could spend 100m per year on the top youth players around the globe and eventually dominate the sport. Those that can't get a first team spot would be sold off for a decent profits. It's frightening to think just what these fecking bastards could do the sport.

I'm hoping against hope that he says no.

But he'll say yes. They will sell him a we're going places line and then that'll be it.

They'll also hand him the captaincy.

The ridiculousness this deal is captured here, I mean who the bloody hell is Mark Bowen? Likewise, due respect to Sparky but as one of the best players in the world, Sparky & Bowen hardly sets my heart alight in terms of inspirational and qualified leadership.

I like the way the Chavs went about their rebuilding. The 1st bought the very best in the market re club management by taking Kenyan, Mourinho etc and then put the players in place.

City would have more chance if they got a real manager who could attract players just through his own force of character and reputation. I have always thought that the sacking of Sven was flawed and incorrect. He would have been a perfect man for this job in my opinion.
