I’m not sure I understand your point. Aren’t you agreeing with me?On average only 1 of the 3 promoted teams face relegation the following season. I’d say that reflects a competitive footballing ladder?

So a league isn't competitive unless newly promoted teams can win the league?
When has that happened in any league, anywhere in the last 50-60 years?
I don't get why you're crying about all this, no league has ever been like you want. No league will ever be competitive for all teams, so what would you do to make newly promoted/lower table teams competitive as you say you want them to be?I’m struggling too see where I’ve changed my opinion with regards to the BIB you’ve highlighted?
My stance is still the same, for a truly competitive league, there should surely be a chance for all teams to have a crack of the whip for winning, I don’t get how this is a hard message too get across?
clearly it’s not an issue as the premier league is an absolute powerhouse financially, most would say why would you want too change that? My answer would be because we’ve made it all about finances and elitism, might have always been like that too an extent but its gone so far away from being a true competition now that I just ain’t bothered by it no more
I’d rather see true competition for all, but it’s all spiralled way out of control now that I’ll never happen
Instead we’ll get a European super league instead to compound the elitism even further if that’s even possible
Kind already got the super league with the new champions league lay out I guess
I’m essentially just bored of it all

Didn't Forest get promoted, win the league right away and the won then European cup twice? Still the only team with more European cups than league titles.
Well I'm not making a statement I'm asking you the question given your last post.
What league has ever been like that in any country?
Where promoted teams regularly challenge for the title.
A competitive league is one where any team can beat any other team. There are few easy games. And you get different teams regularly winning and challenging for the title/Top 4/ Europe.
Competetive leagues don't mean different winners all the time, it means that a number of teams are in with shout of winning it even if they ultimately don't, it also means that there are regular 'upset' resultsI’ve told you already, no top leagues in Europe are like that
So because no top leagues are like that, where by promoted sides challenge for titles, does that disprove my observation? No of course it doesn’t
My observation is just that, no leagues have this in Europe, which for me means the system…….im not going too say “is wrong” because Football is Europes most popular and loved sport, but it’s just not as competitive as we make out, quite the opposite.
Your definition of a competitive league is just wildly off from what is genuinely a competitive league is, you say it’s one where different teams regularly win it, well that’s EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Serie A, Premeira Liga, Eredivisie certainly all ruled out it’s the same familiar badges winning them year in year out
I just don’t see how you can say that’s competitive, look at the list of champions for all those leagues, decades and decades of the same tiny time few teams winning all the time
Battling for European places You say makes a league competitive? Yeh ok but places aren’t trophies, it’s not winning as such is it, it’s like an a distraction too keep the “absolute no chancers” happy with something too play for, because they ain’t going too be winning league titles, that’s for the elite, I think it’s a pretty poor distraction.
West Ham might say differently I guess having won the Europa Conference as a result, but that’s the best they can ever hope for realistically, and that’s wrong, why shouldn’t they be able too win leagues etc? Money
I guess what I’ve learned from all this, is that actually, perhaps I do really admire and appreciate the level playing fields American sports provides in their varying sporting leagues, not just in the MLS!
I understand and I never said anything was impossible, as was suggested. I was surprised that the possibility hadn't been mentioned to date and the repeated use of the word obvious irked me somewhat.
I wasn't being sarcastic when I said it was remiss of those involved. If that route would have a realistic possibility of success for them then it really should have been discussed. Presumably the journalists spoke to legal experts on the likely aftermath of them being found guilty.
But it tells us very little about their chances of success in taking that route other than obviously they'll try anything to get out of punishment if it's anything other than a slap on wrist.

You'll get a lump of coal, don't do it to yourself.Ahhh okay! Thanks! I'll continue to wait like a kid at Christmas until then
Paying 60 million for Cambiasso is an even bigger mystery to be honest. It will be a world record for a fullback.I can't understand why players would sign for them in January with that sentencing just around the corner. I know they might have clauses in their contracts, but still
What a weird transfer
Because he's not very good and they need a midfielder more. Why is it weird, if Walker is fecking off they'll need a replacemnt FB - whether he's the right one I have no idea
That answers the 2nd part but if Walker is going they still need a FB replacementBecause he's not very good and they need a midfielder more.
As would IThat answers the 2nd part but if Walker is going they still need a FB replacement
If the midfielder is to cover for Rodri then that's a short term thing - I'd be happy to give them Casemiro![]()
They’ve got more headroom than we do as they’re much better at selling. Palmer, Sterling, Jesus and Zinchenko were £170m alone - Palmer obviously being full profit.Do PSR rules not apply to city? Spending freely again this January without selling anyone.
They did. They might well be the only team to have won the title right after promotion in England.
In any case promoted team challenging for the title has always been very rare.
Surely you’d do that to give yourself the best chance after those punishments. They must be off the hook, a new contract for Haaland, a swirl of transfers, it would be quite something to do all that and be sentenced heavily. Can't believe the league is dropping the ball on this.
Yeah, I'd say you buy all you can before the punishment hits,Surely you’d do that to give yourself the best chance after those punishments.
Agree. The only thing I'd question with this is how do wage budgets work in the lower leagues? Would they need to sell the players they're signing up anyway?Surely you’d do that to give yourself the best chance after those punishments.
