City and Financial Doping | Charged by PL with 130 FFP breaches | Hearing begins 16th Sep 2024 | Concluded 9th Dec 2024 - Awaiting outcome

It's not the league's decision, is it?
even more reason that they’ll get away with it. city can nobble the “independent” panel, and the premier league can say “it wasn’t us, we thought they were guilty, that’s why we charged them.”

Such an utterly rotten club. Filth to the very core - basically just bought the name 'Manchester City' and got their 'fans' as part of the bargain. No angels in professional sport but I can't think of a more vile organisation

Nah, I would not say vile… it’s a governmental arm for business, soft and hard power abroad, disguised in the official semblance of a football club… acting as such since their PL incorporation and now just defending their interests.

They are vile.

It was Chelsea, Newcastle and Villa who backed Man City for the "Associated party transactions" stuff.
Chelsea didn’t vote against the new rules the 4 votes against were cast by City, Villa, Newcastle and Forest.

Its nice of Guardiola to let everybody know when the outcome is. I hope his owners picked an agreeable punishment too

The Trump White House is pretty vile

Im talking about professional sport. Not going into politics but there is quite a range of global governments id have landed on before anything in the West if using a political comparative. But again, my sentence is about professional sports where I think city have no equal in sheer shamelessness

Absolutely no link between their incoming light punishment of reduced spending for a few transfer windows and them booting outrageous sums on transfers now.

Just a coincidence innit.
Yup. Looks likely they’ll be getting a transfer ban at most. Lot of warning so that they can get their affairs in order.

Corrupt to the core.

OK, the Russian Olympic Committee and their state-sponsored doping programme must come pretty close. Not disagreeing with you btw, only playing devil's advocate

Ok I'll be more specific and said no club / club franchise

In all fairness even if it is just a transfer ban (I believe it will be stronger) they have been found guilty and will always be officially tainted as will their achievements.

I’d be interested to see the the media’s take on the so called greatest PL team of all time if they are found guilty.

“The media” is a pretty big group of people who will have differing opinions. Some in the guardian have been very critical all along, for example, while Martin Samuel is on the other extreme end of the spectrum. He’s constantly not only defending City the football club, but praising the owners for how much good they did for the city and region.

I suspect you’ll see the same.

That atmosphere should be added to the charges. Just unbelievable. A truly nothing club - this is what happens when you sell your soul and history. They'd genuinely be getting a far better atmosphere in league 2 versus wigan had they not sold the club as a franchise.

By far the worst ive ever seen a stadium on a big CL night

When Haaland put them 2-1 up it was absolutely dreadful. I get you might get lulls in a game (CL v Real, you shouldn't). But go 2-1 up with 10 minutes to go, it should be absolutely mental!

Even when the penalty was awarded. Place should have been absolutely bouncing after that goal, with players feeding off it. Sounded like 40,000 people checking their phones. A truly nothing club.

I'd say their older fans would have more passion a Tuesday night in League 2.

It was genuinely the worst I’ve ever heard for a game of that size. Club should be put down. No way you deserve to be playing at this level with that.

Id like to think so, but ive encountered too many who seem willing to go to their graves justifying everything about what they let happen to their club. Probably they have to to keep themselves sane
