Christopher Nkunku

A loan for Nkunku and £60m for Garnacho is better than spending real money on him. But also pretty predictable that we won't re-invest the money we get from the sale in this window

He’d immediately replace Hojlund/Zirkzee in the team.

We do need a 27 year old forward too. That 24 - 29 year old age demographic is sorely lacking in our squad. In front of the defence, we have only Rashford and Mount, who are of no use amd literally do not play anyway.

A lot keep saying he'd replace Hojlund/Zirkzee which I'm sure he would be capable of doing but wouldn't he be a good fit in one of the '10' roles?

Surely we can sell them Garnacho and get Nkunku on loan? Don't buy him given his injuries over last 18 months or so.

He could play both roles, at least for Leipzig he would've been a bit better in our 10 positions

We were linked with him before Amorim, right?
Which leads me to believe the execs want him.

Loan is okay. Otherwise, that would just another injury prone player on big wages that would probably rather be playing for Bayern.

In isolation he's a more obvious fit for the #10 roles.

Whether our relatively lack of quality at CF means he'd start there regularly instead, who knows. In theory you could also see him start as a #10 allowing Bruno play deeper, or Amad to play at RWB. Or more likely all of those options at different times.

He’s better suited to the 10, but given he can play 9 above Championship standard, that’s where he’s most urgently needed if he joined.

A loan is more reasonable, as long as there's no obligation to buy and it doesn't overly impact the fee we get for Garnacho.

A loan makes zero sense for Chelsea though, other than putting him in the shop window for the summer. I’d much rather have him as a great option off the bench and the occasional starter to help us achieve CL football than send him on loan to United. Losing Nkunku only makes sense if it’s a permanent sale.

You hardly use him though

I feel the only centre forward we should be looking at is Gyorkeres and if you are worried about is he good enough just remember he has 15 for Sweden in 26 games compared to Isak who has 15 in 50 games and is being touted as the best out there by some crazy commentators.

However I do know we can’t get him yet so will settle for a loan of Nkunku just because we need someone.

That doesn’t meant he isn’t useful. He has already scored the winner in a tough 1-0 away win at Bournemouth after coming off the bench. I’d rather keep him for one or two more moments of that and then help us win the conference league than a loan.

I'd be more worried we (a) can't afford him or (b) he wouldn't want to come to a lower midtable side or (c) both, over him being not good enough.

Sell Garnacho, bring in Nkunku with an option to buy? Sounds like a decent deal to be fair.
Injury-prone 27year old for a 20year old with best stats in Europe (for under 21), huge potential, and virtually no injuries?

It is a crime, not a deal

Even Rashfor for Nkunku may be a bad deal because of injury record. We already bought one injury-prone player from Chelsea - Mason Mount. And Nkunku has worse record

Probably not the thread for it but using International goals is daft, the level is dirt. Isak is proving it week in and week out he can do it in the PL.

We aren't swapping them though, we'd be getting £60-odd million for Garnacho and a loan with an option is about as non-committal as it gets.

Doesn't he lack a bit of intensity? Not sure I can manage another disinterested forward ambling about.

He's on huge wages and it puts him on the shop window.

Nobody is buying Nkunku unless he can prove he can play regularly and he's not able to do that at Chelsea.

Here we are following on from the bargain basement loans of cast off strikers Ighalo and Weghorst... If this turns out to be true, it will be a case of meet the new owners, same as the old owners.

Guiu would be Jackson’s main back up if we let him go on loan. It’s not without risk, loaning him out mid season.
