Christian Pulisic | Signed by Chelsea

Depay was young and exciting, failed. Martial is young and exciting, didn't fail but seems to be on his way. You then have Rashford who is young and exciting but doesn't get to start a good run of games. If it is Woodward pushing Pulisic you just know what Jose will do if he is signed.

Depay just couldn't make the step up to the EPL
Martial even though I'm a fan, I just don't think he wants to be here and wants to leave. He's been shocking in preseason
Rashford is growing as a player and will only get better.

So currently we have no proper RW that we can depend on and Pulisic offers that option. Lingard and Mata are more centrally operating AMs been made to play on the RW.

A direct swap of Martial and Pulisic would work in everyone's best interest. Pulisic offers more tracking back and could actually be a Mourinho type player.

This could be the highlight of our summer.

Pulisic for No. 10

Him being a United fan is icing on the cake....

Come on, Mbappe will never play for us. Bale would be fecking awesome, but the rumours seemed to cool down.

Why not? We are Manchester United, not friggin Spurs!

So am I, and I DO want this signing badly.

He’s a notch under what Martial was at this time last year, younger of course, and should definitely be ready to step in at a larger club. The way I see it, he’s done as much if not more than Dembele did at the same club, all with inferior supporting cast. Also, we have a hole at RW, so he can feature as long as he shows mettle. He’d be more infusion of core, young attacking talent to grow along Pogba, Lukaku, Lingard, Rashford and Martial (if he stays).

He’s a United fan (for feck’s sakes, we need more Red Devil “blood”) and loves the Premier League. Barring the availability of a world class winger, of which Perisic and Willian are not, and God knows neither Bale and certainly not Mbappe or Neymar will join, Christian Pulisic is just the kind of player we need to add for the present and the future.

He has done more than the overrated DembeWho? But it’s still a gamble. Can’t we buy him while loeaninf him a year more in Germany. We can buy William while Pulisic play his trade in Germany as Chelsea did with Courtois in Atletico.

Because one has potential to become world class and the other doesn't?

Pulisic can become a Robben like played. Maguire is an average defender slightly above Smalling, who people only want because he is English.

Just give it time; I'm sure journos would love to add 10M each time a new headline comes out.

Point is I have Maguire below those defenders mentioned above; personally, I'd take Marquinhos as my preference of the bunch.

All signs point to Martial leaving the club sooner than later; if he can be used as a makeweight for Pulisic (£15M + Martial) then absolutely pull the trigger.

I like Pulisic, but Martial has more goals and assists in him, knows the league, and is a superior player. Hope we retain Tony and buy Pulisic either on winter or next year.

So there was a report he had called off contract negotiations, then there's a report Dortmund are saying "Please come and get him now for 70 mill". Maybe it's all nonsense though. But he'd have to be shocking not to improve our RW. Then again, I guess we thought that about Mkhitaryan. So yeah. Would hate to see him go to Pool or Chelsea though.

Is there anything actually linking us to him, bar the one random ITK Twitter guy?

Do it Woodward! He would improve us instantly and would actually want to be here since he is a fan. Compare that to Martial which according to reports can't wait to leave. Easiest to do would be a straight swap, win win for both since we get our RW and they get a striker which they need.

Criminal if we aren't at least interested.

Wouldn't he suit our #10?

Not really reliable but I've seen us being name dropped in an unreliable german newspaper among the interested parties today. Guess that is about as good as it gets.. .

Sanchez likes to drift into the middle and play quick passes and penetrate like that, the issue is almost all our players like to come into the no 10 area so it’s easy for our opposition to play compact and shut out all attacks through the middle. We have no threat on the wings so the opposition don’t have to worry about defending wide.

It wouldn’t take Beckham or Ronaldo to help solve this issue, any player who is comfortable hugging the touchline and being denagrous wide and up the pitch will force the opposition to spread wider and hence create space in the middle. It’s a similar situation to Lukaku, when he replaced Ibra we went from a striker who liked to drop deep into the no 10 area (even more congestion) to a striker who was a huge threat in behind and hence our opposition had to back off and couldn’t compress as much. This showed with most of our attacking players - Martial, Rashford, Lingard, Pogba etc all doubling their goals/assists stats from the season before. We scored like 20 more goals in the league even though Lukaku himself scored less goals than Ibra did in the league. It’s that effect we need not necessarily for Willian or whoever to be a dangerous threat
I disagree with your assessment but further discussion on this will derail this thread. Let's just leave it here.

A fan, young, exciting and potentially huge for the US market and yet we might let our biggest rivals fight over him. It'd be criminal but it won't be the first time it's happened.

Are Dortmund actually linked to a striker? Martial could get his wish and play in his favourite position for them. I'd rather see us keep him, but at this moment in time I can't see that happening.

Maddening we're not in for him. I mean, I wouldn't realistically expect Jose to sign a player like him (young + big money), but he's a United fan and fits our needs perfectly. Probably one of the only situations where losing Martial would directly benefit us, too.

The thing is, he would be suited for our right side. As it is now, Mata and Lingard are the two who will start there. If last season is any indication, Lingard more often. Pulisic is better than both of those two. Work rate every bit as good as Lingards. Fast. Defends. Eye for goal.

Could be Jose just doesn’t rate him.

Fecking pay the money and get him here. He's a great player already and will only improve in the future, and he plays in a position where we have no quality at the moment.

If José doesn't rate him he can piss off.

Can anyone who's watching the game now tell me he would not be a much better option than Mata?

P.S: This match is an abomination.

Willian would suit us better right now and probably have the more immediate impact, but imagine us funding Chelsea's purchase of Pulisic? Bit gutting.

Could just be that Chelsea end up with Pulisic, the United fan and we end up with Bailey, the Chelsea fan.

We won't end up with any right winger  another season of Mata running in sand on the wing for us.
