Chicharito Loan Watch | Real Madrid

I don't see how the set up is different. He's swapping one bench for another and it's not like he's going to be the main striker at Madrid where they will keep feeding him. He will have to do a lot of the donkey work out wide and help support Ronaldo just like Benzema does.

The only games he will start is in the cup and when Jese comes back from injury he will get even less opportunities. He should have gone somewhere where he would have started and been the main man.

He is clearly swapping one bench for another, but he'll definitely get more opportunities at Real Madrid.

Their only recognised striker is Benzema and Jesé is only 21 and has a long way to go yet. If he'd have stayed at United, he'd be behind all of Rooney, Falcao, and van Persie. Right now, he is behind one guy, where he is likely to at least get subbed on nearly every game and even get a few starts. He wouldn't start one game at United and would probably come off the bench in less than half of the games (if he even made the bench).

I agree that he should have probably gone to a club where he'd be the main striker from the off, but how many players would realistically turn down the chance to play for Madrid if it came along? He might only stay there on loan for the season just for the experience and to say he once played for the most successful club in the history of the European Cup. Then, he could go somewhere else to play as the main man.

I think a club like Arsenal or Spurs should have just paid big for him.

However, despite saying that, maybe he thinks he's good enough to displace Benzema, but not good enough to displace any of United's current strikers? I'd argue that all three of ours are better than Benzema... Maybe he'll outscore him over a few months and get the nod to start games.

I will bet anyone that he scores 20+ this season (injuries permitting of course)

Poor lad. He didn't get a proper presentation like Bale and James did with people filling up the stadium and turning up to see him juggle a few footballs. I shall miss the little pea

A full Bernabau to see Hernandez knocking in footballs from the six yard line

If he regains confidence he will. However that remains to be seen, especially since he nearly gave up playing football altogether before coming to United. He looks a shadow of the striker he was when he arrived on the scene.

He's been a bang average footballer and I've maintained such an opinion since his first season at the club. His first touch and lack of link up play is criminal. It's currently 2014, too, not 2011.

Agree with you.

As nice a lad as he no doubt is, and he was a lethal finisher in his first 2 seasons, he's a very limited player.. I'm surprised Real went for him, good cheap stop gap signing I guess.

Best of luck to him all the same, he was a fantastic buy for Utd. Got a couple of years, a bag full of important goals and made a 10m profit (if the figures are correct).... things really are changing at Utd.

Being signed by the CL winners and arguably the biggest club in the world despite warming our bench for 2 years has got to have some kind of positive effect on his confidence.

He's on loan, so it's hardly anything definite or secure. Anyway, I maintain the opinion that he's not going to do much better there in his current state.

He's a filling up player. This is the best player you can get who's still willing to sit on the bench. All big teams have these sort of players who would be good enough to score about 17-20 goals if they got to play on a regular basis.

Don`t know - he might get more minutes at Madrid than for us but Benzema is clearly their number 1 striker and they will never play a second striker. Benzema also offers a lot in the build up play so if he is fit Chicharito will only play in games which are not so important or for the last 20 minutes when everything is said and done. He has also lost his place in the starting 11 for Mexico and it unsure if this move will improve his chances to get it back.
Chicha could have been number 1 striker for a lot of good clubs. I can understand that it is always exciting for players to be wanted by a club like Real. Like some of you said he can be very proud that he played for 2 of the biggest clubs of world football.
However in his current situation and being 26 he should look for regular first team football. He is good enough for that.

On the other hand he might just prefer the bench in sunny Madrid compared to the one in rainy Manchester.

The striker has spoken on TV in Spain, and the interview has been picked up by AS and others "I played for Chivas, the best team in Mexico; I played for Manchester United, the best of England; and I will play with Real Madrid, the best club in the world. I can only see the glass half full.

"Playing for Real Madrid is the main miracle of my life fulfilled. Those who know me know that I think so. I'll break my soul and kill for this shirt. It is clear that a single call can change your life. That happened to me two weeks ago."

After saying that, he is never coming back to United.

You would think that a Spanish club, Real in particular, would be the most appealing for a Mexican.

Hugo Sanchez is a hero and idol to many in mexico. He was an absolute brilliant player. I would be very surprised if chicarito did not look up to him as a kid.

Says every single Latin player who signs for them..

Seriously though, I won't be too sad if he stayed permanently. I'll miss him but I always saw him as a supersub even in his earliest most promising days.

I hope this isnt being blown out of context. Nothing wrong with what he says. RM is his new club and his comments are similar to that of when he joined us. By the by. He actually always gave 110% for our shirt he broke his soul for us on numerous occasions. I for one will always have the upmost respect for the little p. Im glad he joined a team with the stature of RM, he will show his worth, this is a fact. Very underatted amongst united faithful, people are genuinely upset with the departure of welbeck, yet over look the fact Chicha scored far more important goals (overall in general) than Welbeck has for us in much much shorter mins.

And unfortunately we are living in an age of where Real Madrid are deemed the absolute pinacle of european football for most player/ fans. Very nothing comment in reality.

Yet again, he was a fantastic finisher and and always a role model on and off the pitch. He gave it 100% even when things were not happening for him. It's a shame his game time dried up and his confidence went, but I think a move to Madrid will be the best thing for him.

Hopefully Madrid will buy him off us for a healthy sum, and we can both part ways with fond memories.

I just hope we don't miss his goals, as he always chipped in with a healthy amount, some quite crucial.

I haven't got a problem with his comments. I don't want him back anyway. He's not a good enough footballer to start regularly for a club like Madrid or United. He will get games because Benzema is the only other 1st team striker and they're in many competitions and I expect him to score quite a few. Madrid are so dominant that he's bound to grab a few goals.

Jese is very highly regarded over there, in fact im sure they only signed Chicha because Jese is still injured so they needed cover for now. But lets see how it pans out, in the long term.

If I had money I'd counter that.

He won't get enough game time to get a run together and he sorely needs it to start scoring goals.

He also appears to have completely forgotten how to put a ball in the back of the net, his finishing has been atrocious for a long time now, which is bad when that's his main selling point.

 that is mean! He could do a few back headers too after all! He's limited but he's been more important to our recent couple of titles than players like Welbeck, Cleverley or Nani were!

Nothing wrong with what he said there imo.

I highly doubt he'll still be there this time next season mind.

I couldn't care less if he calls RM the best club in the world or on Mars or whatever.

FWIW Benzema will play whenever fit and they still have Jese to come back. Plus they'll always have Isco (assuming their 3 big names/pretty boys play when fit) + at least 1 cm to come on in games. Not to mention the Marcelo/Coentrao sub.

That only leaves Chicharito with limited games/minutes and as usual he has to make out the most of that time.

I'm kind of glad he didn't get one of those presentation ceremonies. Watching him attempt keepy-up's would have been excruciating.

Even Bale looked a bit daft on arrival.
