Chicharito Loan Watch | Real Madrid

Good luck to the guy.

Played crucial part for us in 2 seasons. One of the most likeable footballers around too.

Been a great story already from where he was couple of years before joining us.

Gonna miss the little fecker. Thanks for the goals Chicha :(

Fairly bizarre seeing him at Real Madrid. Fair play to him I guess. I can't see him playing too much more than he would have here so I think it's a bit strange. Thought he would have went to a club where he'd be guaranteed a start.

I always liked him, but I knew he was wasn't good enough to start and always preferred him coming off the bench. I would have been happy to have kept him for that, but that's probably unfair to the player. Disappointing he never developed from where he was when he joined us. If he had improved his overall game, he would have been a guaranteed starter for us.

Good luck to him. I can see him scoring a decent number over there as they will create a lot of chances, but not sure they'll appreciate his lack of all round ability though.

The guy needs game time.

He should have plenty of opportunities now.. Interested in seeing if he can relish them, or if he can get back to the level he was at.

It's a bit surreal to see him in Real Madrid's white shirt, especially considering he seems to have regressed the last few years. But best of luck to him in finding his form regardless of whether or not he ever wears our shirt again.

Good luck, Chicharito. Now become a Real Madrid legend.

:(

Btw, Hugo Sanchez, another Mexican centre forward, poacher - and a Real legend - signed for them when he was 27.

After five successful seasons in Mexico, with 99 goals to his name, Sánchez drew the attention of several Spanish sides, and signed with Atlético Madrid in 1981. It took him a while to find his feet in La Liga, but by the 1984-85 season he was scoring regularly with a team that won the Copa del Rey, finished in second place in the Spanish League and won the Spanish Super Copa. That year Hugo also won his first Pichichi trophy for being the most prolific scorer in the league.

...

At the high-point of his career, he signed for Real Madrid in 1985 and played with players such as Camacho, Butragueño, Gordillo, Schuster, Valdano and Míchel. This team won five consecutive league titles (from 1985-86 to 1989-90), the Copa del Rey in 1989, and the UEFA Cup in 1986.

During those five years, Sánchez won four consecutive Pichichi trophies (the only player in Spain's football history to achieve this without sharing the trophy in any season), scoring 253 goals in 283 games. He scored 27 or more goals in four consecutive seasons between 1986 and 1990, including 38 goals in the 1989-90 season, tying the single-season record set in 1951 by Telmo Zarra and earning the European Golden Boot award to the best scorer in Europe. Remarkably, all 38 of these goals were scored with only a single touch.

Overall, he scored 47 goals in 45 European Cup games, though he failed to win the trophy.

...

In comparison to his "domestic" club success, Sánchez did not have a successful international career with the Mexican national team...

I know he has to leave for his own good but still saddens me to see him in another teams kit.

Good luck Chico!

Broke my heart to move him out of the United forum, but looking forward to watching his progress at Real.

How can a Latin player moving to Real Madrid be a bad career move?! It's a dream muppet scenario for Hernandez. Personally delighted for him.

Benzema has some interesting competition for places!

Because he's shite and isn't going to play with any real regularity. What happened to just playing football?

I've just seen him on Spanish TV. I've not seen him looking that happy for years. :(

But I still wish him luck. He tried to be the player we wanted but it didn't quite work out. Real Madrid, I suspect, are taking him for the player he is. New start for him now.

He's not shit. Did you start watching United 6 months ago? He's stagnated but was a pivotal player in our 19th title and CL run in 2011.

He's been a bang average footballer and I've maintained such an opinion since his first season at the club. His first touch and lack of link up play is criminal. It's currently 2014, too, not 2011.

Poor lad. He didn't get a proper presentation like Bale and James did with people filling up the stadium and turning up to see him juggle a few footballs. I shall miss the little pea

A great move for Real in terms of shirt sales/marketing in Mexico. I wish you all the very best Chicharito with your fantastic move.

It feels very weird to see him in that shirt. Hope it's a good move for him.

Mexican international Javier Hernandez insists the move to Real Madrid was a change he desperately needed, after the striker joined the Spanish side from Manchester United on a season long loan yesterday.

The 26-year-old did not feature in new bossLouis van Gaal’s plans and was asked to search for an alternate club, as the Dutchman looked to restructure the side and brought in new attacking reinforcements in the form of Angel Di Mariaand Radamel Falcao.

Hernandez joined the Premier League club from Liga MX side Guadalajara in 2010, and had made 102 league appearances since his debut, netting the ball on 37 occasions. But he failed to establish himself as a first team regular, and made only six starts in his 24 appearances in the league last season.

With lack of first team football at the Theatre of Dreams, the player was speculated to a move away from Old Trafford all summer, and is delighted that the Whites gave him the opportunity he wanted.

“It is something that I needed a lot; a change. And what a better place than the world's best club, who have given me the opportunity, have believed in me and I want to take advantage of this”, the 66-times internationally capped player told Real Madrid’s official website.

“I know what it means to wear this shirt, the responsibility and all that it represents.

“I want the next matchday to come around so I can be involved and hopefully I can get the chance to do so in the best way possible”, he added.

He isn't going to play a different role from what he did here, but I can understand him needing a change. Good luck, Chicha!

Real has got a lot of creative players if they can reate him chances, he can be brilliant palyer for them , one of the reasons why he didn't make it here is that we had just terrible midfield unable to create a thing. Carrick being our best midfielders says a lot. Not saying he was that bad, he was decent having just ONE beautiful season, but he was never ever close to world class of Keane/Scholes/Modric/Kroos level.. I am sure that Chicharito he will score goals for them. He is faster than Benzema and will be a great player to have when playing on quick counters. Their creative quick football will suit him well..

His role will be the same, but he will be in a completely different set-up where he will be guaranteed chances a lot more than he would at United.

I don't see how the set up is different. He's swapping one bench for another and it's not like he's going to be the main striker at Madrid where they will keep feeding him. He will have to do a lot of the donkey work out wide and help support Ronaldo just like Benzema does.

The only games he will start is in the cup and when Jese comes back from injury he will get even less opportunities. He should have gone somewhere where he would have started and been the main man.

The truth is if you put chances on for this lad he will score. No two ways about it. Madrid have so much talent in the midfield they don't need a striker who can drop deep and help out. I reckon he'll be a success at Madrid.
