Chess World Championship: Anand vs. Carlsen

Still a draw or is Carlsen now ahead?

Still looks a dead draw. If you can't tell from the position - see the comupter analysis. 0 = equal. + equals white ahead and - equal black ahead.. You need to be (IMO) at least +/- 0.50 for it to be a rel winning chance. Unless your fecking Carlsen and can grind wins out of nothing

:( Evidently, I'm quite shit at reading this game. But doesn't Carlsen have the advantage of the pawns g and h?

I think it's more like +/-1 at least..

If I remember correctly, both Anand and Carlsen were ~1 point ahead in games 3 and 4 respectively and they still blew it.

Can anand hold on?

Unlikely.. His only hope is if he can trade the c pawn for the e pawn. And even then, it's a 50/50 chance or even less (depends on the way he trades the c pawn for the e pawn, i.e. where the kings and rooks will be)..

It would be a near miracle if Anand saves this one.

It is over. Poor play by anand. Easy draw and he lost it

Engines are saying that it may be over.

It is over imo.

Anand only has himself to blame. He had the chance earlier (I think) to mess up white's pawn structure, instead he didn't do it, and allowed Carlsen to do it. Playing an endgame against Carlsen with several weak pawns is just too hard.

Yeah would be exciting if Anand wins one of the two next rounds where he is white, but Carlsen is so solid I dont see it happening.
Might be wrong though, Anand will have to attack.

Anand is (IMO) at his best when he attacks. Unfortunately, I think Carlsen is just a better player. :(. Maybe losing will do Visgy good and

The only problem I can see for Carlsen is if he tried to settle for draws. Psychologically if you know you only need a draw sometimes makes you end up in passive positions, and hands over the initiative to your opponent, and that could be dangerous..

However, I don't expect that to happen (nor do I expect a mental breakdown ala the one he had towards the end of the candidates tournament this year), and I think he'll get another win soon, because Anand will start taking more risks.

No 100 for Tendulkar. Anand fecks up a drawn position... I hate today.
