The bullishness is back! Hilarious how it's against the backdrop of Arsenal allegedly turning Fabregas down, too!

I love Arsenal fans.

I actually misspoke a bit there. Fabregas isn't necessarily needed by United playing in his current position.

I still think there would have been interest though at that price. It would have been a landmark signing.

Why did he turn your lot down, Alastair?

Come to think of it, Pete seems to be suspiciously quiet at the moment...

Course it is.

The fact we'd ruled ourselves out long before the media even knew Chelsea were interested is irrelevant though?

I imagine you spoke to his reps and they said they weren't interested in a United move.

You have to accept this is more likely than United actually briefing to the press that they weren't interested in an available player.

I also imagine you spoke to his reps and they said they weren't interested in a Arsenal move.. Isn't the imagination a wonderful thing.

Honestly I think Arsenal just weren't interested in him anymore (also has been a tweet saying they told Barca, they wouldn't activate the buy-back clause they had on him), I can also see why, they simply don't need him anymore, last year when they didn't have Ozil it would have made sense for them to sign him when he would have become available, but now it would be pointless for them to sign him, they don't need that type of player. The only reason for them to sign him, would have been for emotional reasons, and that is never a good basis to spend £30m on. They have Ramsey and Wilshere as deeplying playmakers and both are more than good enough, futher up the field they have Ozil and Cazorla, they simply don't need him and a club like Arsenal will never spend that kind of money on a player they don't really need (especially with so many other positions, they need to strenghten in). It is like us being linked with Cavani or Falcao, they are good players, but we simply don't need them atm and hence why it doens't make sense to spend a ton on signing them.

As for the fact that Fabregas chose Chelsea, I think more than anything it has to do with him wanting to play and live in London. He has lived there for many years, it would be like coming home for him. That probably swung his decision towards Chelsea instead of us or City.

Manchester not being an option cause it ain't London and Arsenal not being an option because they don't need him and won't spend £30M on him, that makes Chelsea the only other option.

Who? I never go in the tweet thread as I value my mental health. Sadly I have no choice but to view the very slightly less mental press as I need to update the Facebook page daily. The thing that amazes me is just how much energy Express sports "journalists" have. Ritalin in short supply there methinks.

Unless reports that Van Gaal didn't think him a priority and/or United being wary after last summer's debacle are true.

Oh I see, basically the guy who's tweet sparked off that article, has been banned from the twitter thread for being a bullshitter. So yeah, that article is basically creating something out of a tweet that is likely bullshit, although hopefully not.

Think he'd go to United as a last resort if moves to us or the Chavs don't eventuate.

And before the tuffies get all agro - that's not meant to be an insult. He favors London what with his partner living/working there.

He won't have the choice. United are not in for him and I can see where van Gaal is coming from. Fabregas and Mata in the same midfield could leave the team a bit vulnerable defensively.

Will you keep your username if he ends up at Chelsea?

Great question, TBH this is the first I've heard of it since the rumors. I wanted to change it to Gervinho's forehead a while ago but he's gone now too.

His abomination of a mullet needs to be honored though.

James Ducker from The Times, more reliable than most, says we're not in for him.

How does he know?

Has he also tweeted a list of player we are in for? At this point all the journalists and bullshitters are either tweeting something they have been told or made up.

Doesn't that apply to Kroos/Mata too ? I think people are yet to accept that we now have a manager, again, who knows exactly how is going go about his business and the type of player he would want in his team as opposed to the joker we had who would just be excited by the size of a said player's reputation . I think Van Gaal's signings will underwhelm and yet positively surprise us when the season actually starts .

Not at all. Each club has a few journalists who they brief or the journalists themselves have contacts at the club who they get information from. The way that tweet was worded would suggest to me he has heard something from United.

I think the Fabregas deal is already done to Chelsea.

Ducker has obviously asked the club source, and they have told him straight we are not in for him.

Great player but perhaps not what we need right now, I would rather Kroos if we are after a creative CM anyway.

How does any journalist know? They have their sources, and they use the information they get from said sources as a skill to market and get gigs.

The contacts or people that brief the journalist have no reason to lie?

That's the point im trying to make, they could easily be getting used.

Ah, so you're the villain?

Shock and horror, a journalist reporting something he was told. How do you think they get the information?

Of course Ducker was told. It may well be the truth.

Is tweeting/reporting what you've been told not the job of a journalist? Where else would they get their information - accurate or otherwise?

thank god, im sick of this rumour. Its clear that United arent in for him since LVG took over so i wish United fans would stop wishing their life away
