He's a good player and wouldn't be disappointed if he came however I'd question his motivation to be here. There are some negatives associated in the signing as he's left his boyhood club and can't return to his second choice. Not sure what mentality he's returning back to England with.

I can see him going to Chelsea.....

was it the 20-30 different source twitter comments that drew you to that?

i agree. I said in another post, speculating of course, that if barca are getting rid of fabregas, there is something they saw wrong with his mentality.

He never fit into their system and they didn't need him in the first place. He was still good for them. My God he was one of the best central midfielders when he was in England, which was only 3 years ago.

No idea cause I'm not on 'twatter' nor have I read anything. It doesn't take much to work out that if he comes back to England and Arsenal don't want him, his options are limited to realistically us and Chelsea.

I can see him going to Chelsea cause it makes sense in some way. He returns to London, and maybe signing for Chelsea sticks two fingers up to Arsenal.....

Exactly what Chelsea needed, a player who can fill the creative void left by Mata. However, in hindsight Mourinho probably should of kept mata since he is a more profient player in that role.

Willian - Fabregas - Hazard(?)
Costa
Is an enticing front four.

Hopefully that puts an end towards our interest in him and we can actually look for an actual "central midfielder." Looking at our history in this area, I will keep expectation low and say even Anderson would be an improvement ...That is a pretty low expectation, so I can not come out disappointed

He was quality as an actual midfielder for Arsenal though.

we just have to hope we have a better plan up our sleeves

Have to say if Fabregas is available for under £40m then I think it's a real shame if we aren't in for him. I'm sure LVG has other targets but I just think he'd be great, though in fairness for us he'd most likely play a more deeper role. His best times have come when he's been allowed more freedom. But I'm sure he could adapt, especially if we can get an energetic player next to him.

I think Chelsea is an odd destination if Mourinho is the one who wants him. I don't think he really fits in anywhere its Mou's typical approach aside from attacking mid where they have Oscar who is well on his way to being a top player imo.

------Matic--Ramires-----
---------Fabregas-------
Willian-------------Hazard
----------Costa----------

With Cahill in great form, Lampard replaced by Cesc, Costa up top, Zouma coming in and Terry back in form Chelsea could be a real force if Cesc moves to them. Add to that the possibility of Courtois in goal and a late bid for Shaw? Feck. Worst case scenario, let's hope!

1/12 to sign for Chelsea
6/1 to sign for United
so looks like its almost certain
will be interesting to see how Jose uses him because he already has Oscar and willian
I could see
.............matic........Ramirez......
..Oscar......fabregas.......hazard
......................Costa......................
Though with the way willian performed last year he will be hard to leave out
Starting to look like a good side though and I can see Jose getting a lot of goals out of fabregas if he does go there

Yeah. I do think his mentality is a bit suspect though, he's quick to blame everyone else when things aren't going his way and his performances in big games have been appalling (at Barcelona, not Arsenal).

6/1??? It was 7/1 last time it checked, it's fecking on.

Yea, but that was in the distant past. He is not as proficient in that role anymore. Barcelona fans, Arsenal fans and I will tell you that, so I was not concerned with our interest in him from the start even though playing him as a central midfielder would have improved our team because of our current option. Which does not speak about Fabregas quality in that role, but our lack of quality in it.

I am also hoping we have other option on the table. We do not have to reach for the star players like Vidal, Modric, Scholes, Toure, Kroos, Zidane, etc. Strootman, Carvalho and Kovacic would easily make our midfield one of the best in the league.

You lot are being far too hysterical. We actually sacked Moyes and hired LVG. This summer is already 10 times better than last summer.

3 years is a lifetime in football.......

It definitely is. So is 1 year.

1 year ago, he was seemingly our #1 target, yet he was categorically not for sale. 1 year later, he is in the Barca shop window with a pricetag around his neck, and we're not interested, despite our midfield still being garbage.

Was Woody just posturing, putting in lowball bids to make it look like he's going for top players, but knowing he won't land the target? The same player is now available for around the price we made a 2nd bid for, and we're backing off.

Football is weird.

Didn't Oscar find himself benched a lot during the final run in?
Had a minor injury and he and Mourinho both admitted publicly that he'd sit to save himself for the World Cup.

Considering he's going to be spending a lot of time around Mata, De Gea and Torres, waiting till after the world cup wouldn't be wise on Chelsea's part.

I think LVG is looking for players that want to come here rather than players that we are to them Hobson's choice....

Especially when you consider last year we still have illusions of top finishing positions, and now we've just come 7th!

Moyesie must be sitting at home, utterly bemused, and be shouting "I told youss all"

You don't want Mata or De Gea telling him what it's been like at Old Trafford recently. Juan Mata has been wandering about with an expression similar to this dog since his move....

Perhaps Fabregas is seen as a #10 these days by LVG rather than a CM. Since we signed Mata since last summers pursuit of Fabregas, we've already got ourselves a world class signing in what is probably now our strongest position. No need for another player in that role if LVG doesn't think he'll do a job in CM for us

Well that's not true at all. He's been happy he's playing for a proper club now. :P

Is that because he's in awe of finally playing for a big club?

They played him in a mata type role, when hes a xavi or pirlo type of player.
