 So many butt hurt fans in this thread. We don't have Moyes any more. Whoever we sign I will be happy :D

If United fail with transfer this summer, including are supposed interest him Fab, I can't see how the Glazers will put up with it and let Woody go on with his job.

Any of the Spanish guys here have a translation to the whole thing?

Pique: "to defend Cesc a bit."
"He told me it's a done deal."
VdB:"him?"
Pique:"He's gone. 33 million he told me."
VdB:"the president is going to be in some shitstorm, you guys are going to have it very..."
Pique interrupts:"Nah, man.."
VdB:" Nah he says, you are going to drive him crazy, the poor little man."

Then against the press Pique says:
"I love Cesc, I know he's having a very difficult period. I think people don't appreciate him for the player he is...
In any other club he would be a fundamental piece of the puzzle, one of the stars of the team. But in Barcelona he's having a harder time to do this.
I don't know what he will do in the future as we haven't talked about this, but it's clear that I want him to continue at the club..."

Its not unfair and its not surprising, we have a joke of a chairman who couldnt buy a pack of half eaten Rolos for £2

And rightly so. A full pack would only cost about 60p. Also, if you are lucky you can catch one of those big sharing bags on offer for a pound at Tesco. All fully sealed and unmolested.

We haven't signed Costa or Fabregas. Even Luiz is still a Chelsea player. We're not getting stuff done faster.
Can this just be cut and paste as the standard response whenever some spacker decides to throw his toys out of the pram and complain that all these clubs are signing players when we aren't. None of these moves have actually happened yet.

From that it sounds like he's been told he can go for that amount, not that anything has actually been agreed or he's actually been sold.

There's no value in the bitesize chocolate confectionary market at the moment.

And, even if we did offer £2 for half a packet, PSG would probably swoop in as we were agreeing personal terms and buy it for £45m

Yeah, I'm not sure if Pique is talking about Cesc or someone else who told him this either.

Edit - Altough Cesc is supposedly one of his best friends at the club, so he would probably be one of the first ones to hear it from him.

We made a ridiculous bid for Shaw and then nothing else happened.

I'm expecting the worst again this summer despite all of the clubs talk.
I think chelsea met the price Barcelona wanted for fabregas so it was straight forward . Southampton don't want/need to sell shaw so its there perogative to hold out for more money .

Its frustrating from a united point of view seeing chelsea let lampard go then replace him with a quality player a few days later . I don't think its a case of united not being decisive in the market but more of the new manager is not in place till July .

Mourinho , wenger , rogers and pelligrini av worked with there squads and know were they need to improve . Van gaal is new to united and wont have that luxury . We will just have to suck it and see .

Yeah, this 33 mil Thing is a bit weird, surely Cesc would hardly be bothered about the fee if it was agreed, neither would Pique talk about it if the deal was actually done. So I think the emphasis on 33 mil suggests that Cesc told him he can go for 33 mil rather than a deal is already done.

I am bored of the continual Fabregas sagas. If he goes to Chelsea, they'll still play utter dross because Mourinho's systems are dross as far as entertainment goes. You can have some of the best players in the world (which I am not sure Cesc is anymore and certainly view him as a step down from Mata creatively) but it doesn't mean you'll play an attractive brand of football.

Van Gaal probably has plans which don't rely on us signing Fabregas. I am sure we'll sign some talented players in the midfield and defensive positions this summer (it's very early days) and then it will be all about Van Gaal and his vision for how he wants us to play. We've seen how important managers are. Mourinho goes to Chelsea, they improve considerably. Moyes goes to United, we fall to pieces.

Van Gaal's got this.

So BBC Has just confirmed that Arsenal has called Barcelona that they won't activate Fabregas's clause.

Time to bump the Arsenal Mania goes in meltdown thread?

All part of an elaborate plan to get him cheaper than his guaranteed sell-on percentage fee buy-back minimum release transfer clause.

I dont understand this Cesc saga.

Hes leaving Barcelona thats for sure.

But:

1. Arsenal already stated they won't activate his clause and already got Cazorla/Ozil/Ramsey/Wilshire covering his positions and they can't throw out Arteta or they have 0 defense in their midfield.
2. Cesc and Mourinho HATE each other. They even kicked each other ffs lol. Also Cesc is like the prime example of what Mourinho doesn't want in a midfielder. Doesn't defend a lot, low work rate, his midfield with Oscar/Cesc/Ramires or Matic would get completely overrun.
3. United needs a MF, has the budget, has been after Fabregas for ages.

But its a done deal for Chelsea? Sounds so Unlogical.

How would that midfield get overrun?

Fabregas & Matic with Oscar dropping back when the opponent has possession will be plenty solid enough. Ramires or Mikel can slot in and they could play a 4-3-3 if needed.

His signing would give them loads of options. Say Oscar has a dip in form like he did last season or gets injured, Fabregas can move to the #10 position and Ramires can just come into the box-to-box role.

1. Agreed.
2. They will just pass all that off as getting caught up in the moment and plenty of mention of being 'professionals'. As Orc says above, he could really do a job for them.
3. Originally I thought the same but clearly LVG doesn't view Fabregas as a CM like he used to be, but more like a #10 which we obviously don't need another of.

we shouldn't get a panic on if we're not in for Cesc this time. LvG will have his targets, he knows what he's doing, his record proves that so I trust whatever he's doing and what targets he goes for. Window isn't even open yet guys so stop away. There is nothing to see here.....yet!

Dont forget MvG ..... He is solid as well

Roman Abrahamovic and logical don't connect.

If this goes through, I will be bitterly, bitterly disappointed.

Who the feck are we going to sign in midfield?

I really hope that we get some exciting new players for feckING ONCE.

Not only to they consistently get their targets, they get ours too (Robben, Hazard). In fact, they even take players we think we have signed (Mikel) for feck sake.

If Arsenal genuinely have no interest in signing Fabregas then surely they don't have anywhere near the amount of money to spent that is being quoted in the papers, £30m for a world class former player? Arsenal should be biting Barca's hand off for that.

The only reason not for United to jump at this transfer is if they know for a fact that they can get another quality player more suitable to Van Gaal's system.
If Van Gaal fails, we'd still be left with a great player if he was signed, in a position we are severely lacking quality.

Too put it shortly, if he goes for such a low fee to any club without us trying and we end up without a top quality midfielder this window, then Woodward should be put back into his old job, and get a "never for promotion" tag along with it.

The Caf meltdown if we went into the new season with Carrick, Cleverly, Fletcher, Fellaini and a returned Anderson.

Funny thing is, I can see it happening.

 I'm so sick of this midfield. Van Gaal will buy someone. Anderson won't last 2 minutes under his leadership.

Cleverley and Anderson are going to be World class under van Gaal.
