Chelsea 2024/25

Very highly rated young defender, initially joined the Chelsea U-8s. He was frozen out of the squad and told he wouldn't get minutes if he didn't commit to an extension but was brought back in recently as the talks progressed.

Can play RCB or RB. Should hopefully start on Thursday.
Right ok, cheers!

Yeah, Acheampong is a top prospect, and the pathway into the team is there for him with James and Fofana being sicknotes, and Gusto not exactly the most robust and reliable player either.

It's not really "such a big deal". A promising kid who there was doubts about him re-signing.
Yeah just found it weird to see Ornstein and a few other journalists talking about it quite prominently recently.

It’s almost 100% because of the contract stand off and the club essentially withholding valuable game time from him if he didn’t sign. It was in the news and I believe the PFA stepped in to make sure the player wasn’t being mistreated.

The lad has been linked with the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern and PSG over the last few months in case he couldn't be convinced to extend so him signing a new long term contract is definitely newsworthy.

James being as injury prone as he is there'll definitely be a chance for Acheampong to make his breakthrough sooner or later. Now that the contract is settled we'll probably start seeing him play more first team football occasionally.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if they got into double figures against Shamrock Rovers... I'm going for 12-0!

Nah, we’ve played much worse teams than them in this league. They’re actually one of the good teams here. They’re still unbeaten. I’m going with 2-0 or 3-1.

Are silly Highlights, I know, yet cool vid that Youtube recommended me:

How has Maresca come in and settled things so well? It seemed like lunatics running the asylum
He has established a specific way of playing on and off the ball built around the 3-box-3 formation in possession and a 4-4-2 when defending - regardless of whether we are chasing or leading a match, the system stays the same but the personnel vary. This consistency has provided a stable platform for a very young team to grow and I think it's made the players' lives easier from a tactical perspective.

I think the Shamrock players have put money on a Marc Guiu hat trick tonight.

With the context that it’s Shamrock he’s shown real strikers instinct and quality so far. To read those mistakes and to take that second finish as well as he did.

This felt like a throw back to the 22/23. Poor game, particularly the second half.

We just couldn’t regain control once Fulham got momentum. Something for Maresca to figure out.

Just levelling out a bit as in fairness Maresca has said consistently in every post match interview in last two months. He's saying it because he's right. Chelsea will still finish top 4 comfortably with Man. City's form off a cliff.

Saw the last ten minutes and was it Tosin who was a good five yards behind everyone else on the last goal? Chelsea are a Thiago Silva dominant CB from challenging for the league so assume that will be the big priority next summer.

Surprised the first goal was given, I assume they deemed the Chelsea player over the touchline "active" ?

I think it was Colwill who kept him onside. Could have been Tosin, I’ve not watched it back.

I always said people were too quick to put us in a title race. These players have not proven anything yet to warrant being put on a pedestal like that. Being near the top after 15-16 games has been done by many teams before, teams who ended up nowhere near the title race.

Dropping 5 points in 2 games puts a lot of pressure on Ipswich away now. Cannot drop points in that game too because then it suddenly goes from a little blip to a potential rut.

I read somewhere that Chelsea have got the same number of points from the first 18 games this season, as they did for the last 18 games last season, is that true?

Probably true, from Christmas 2023 to the end of the season only the top 3 teams earnt more points than us.

Just checked using the form table on Transfermarkt, it is true. Underlines that Poch was doing ok I suppose.

I personally wasn’t convinced by him, he had us 12th going into 2024, so he managed to rescue a desperately dire situation, but I don’t think he was sacked because of his performances anyway.

I’m much happier with Maresca than I ever was with Poch.

I don’t think it is just coincidence that our injuries are much less since Poch left. He was probably upsetting the owners with the t-shirts and statements about keeping Connor.

A A Ron coming earlier than I thought.

Well there he goes, I really wanted to enjoy him a full season with no injuries and extra isues. Good luck lad.
