I want Liverpool to draw Madrid, giving the best team two legs to beat pool, then maybe Munich in the final as backup.

I don't have much confidence in Madrid tbh. They've flattered to deceive in a few CL fixtures but have been miles off the pace in La Liga all season. Roma punched way above their weight against Barca and can't be expected to hit those heights again. Basically we need to hope/pray that Bayern are on top of their game to stop this season having a horrific finish. Anyone who thought/thinks Liverpool have no chance of winning this thing is fecking deluded. They've got an excellent chance.

They do now Barca are out! That just improved their odds substantially.

If they get Roma in the semis they are more than capable of beating Madrid/Bayern in a one off game, stuff of nightmares.

I know Chelsea haven;t been great this season but Roma made mugs out of them as well, it's not a given Liverpool will progress even if they do get Roma

I'd prefer them facing Bayern over 2 Legs. Madrid are far more ruthless in finals as they showed last year. More susceptible over 2 Legs.

And they have some huge players/characters who are up for the big games.

Well, whatever happens, we are about to find out whether the PL is still incredibly overrated or not.

Let’s hope it is :)

Need Chelsea to put some pressure on the Scousers for fourth spot in the PL so they can’t rest players ideally.

Bayern obviously have the Bundesliga in the bag again & Real gave up on La liga a while back but are comfortably in the CL places. So both these will be resting players you would think.

Hopefully Roma just carry on with their shit or bust attitude that was on display last night :)

I want Liverpool to get battered in the next round.

But for some reason I really didn’t want city to progress. More so than Liverpool. Probably partly it was due to City are more dangerous. I think secondly is I think of CL winners as being an exclusive club of elite clubs. I’m not ready for city to join that club. Not ever.

Genuinely rather Liverpool have a 6th (which I’m certain they won’t!) than city have their first.

Lets face it, Liverpool don't have a prayer.
Let them enjoy last night, their big season achievement.
Was hoping city pulled it off last night though, but never mind.

Illogical- unless you’re very young and didn’t live through “5 times la” all the ‘kin time

Clearly, he's by far more successful. :smirk:

I feel like you are trying to argue how the cartoon sex you are watching is so much better than the sex I am having. Why would what Ronaldo has won mean anything to me as a liverpool fan? It's a fecking weird comparison.

You should try following things more accurately then you wouldn't look as silly..

I mentioned it in response to what was being spouted by your own fans on here. It's frustrating having to state the obvious I know but some of your fan base (and ours weirdly) seem to need reminding.

Where there some Liverpool fans on here actually saying we were unbeatable ? Pointing out that we are beatable is stating the bleeding obvious.

As bad as that side was in comparison to Milan on paper, it did have Alonso, Gerrard and Mascherano. That's a solid spine. This Liverpool team has a shaky defense, a sub par midfield (mostly just runners), and a very good attack. I think Real are a level (or three) ahead of that Milan side as well.

Edit: No Mascherano, but Alonso and Gerrard were lightyears ahead of anything they have in midfield now. Even the likes of Hamann would start over Henderson.
You’re making the mistake of applying reason
Liverpool are the kings of Jammie wins, spirit of 2005 lives on closer and closer they get
6 times la!

The best case scenario now is for them to draw Real Madrid with the second leg in the Bernabeu.

You overestimate Liverpool. Neither Bayern nor Real are as naive as City. Liverpool cannot score freely against them.

I hope you’re right. I do feel they have it In them but hopefully over two legs one of these teams would beat them. I think they’d ease past Roma who will never replicate what they did last night

Not very young (27) so lived through 2005. Perhaps, being from Manchester, I have to deal with more city fans on a day to day basis, who are unbearable. Liverpool fans in Manchester are no where near as bad. Also for me, City’s first title win was the darkest time as a United fan.

I had to lay down in a cupboard for an hour and go over again and again the Everton game when we were ahead and Evans and Fabio along with Evra got posted missing.

The good news is, Klopp has lost 5 finals. The bad news is, it's guaranteed he'll be winning his sixth final and Liverpool's sixth European Cup.

Somebody pass me the koolaid. Goodbye cruel world.

Even if they win the CL, the title drought continues.

Yes, this is my crappy consolation, as I cry into my Cornflakes...

The momentum is with them and their tactics suit these European games down to tea, honestly its sickening that they stand a realistic chance of winning the thing. I'll forgive Madrid all the past sins if they can dispatch them home either in SFs or Final.

I have had a bet on Liverpool to win the Champions League since the group stages so if they win it will be bitter sweet for me. Or I could just cash out now....
I just have a feeling they are going to win it.

Liverpool have got a good chance of winning the competition. People are delusional if they still think Liverpool haven't a chance. Also apart from that one fellow wanting Liverpool to be strong again, who exactly wants them to draw Roma? Absurd if that's the case. I want them to draw Real and go out in the semis.

What actually indicates that their tactics suit European games?

They were pretty inconsistent in the group games, and they have just beaten a PL team. This tie was a good tie for Liverpool. In both league games you could see that Liverpool knew how to play against City.

In fact, looking at key events in both legs suggests that it was actually Guardiola's tactics that handed the game to Liverpool in the 1st leg.

Do you think any team left in the competition will give Salah the freedom of the whole of Anfield like City did?

I'll only worry about Madrid winning it 3 times in a row once Liverpool are knocked out. Don't care who wins it as long as its not Liverpool.

Anfield - whose atmosphere can be seen from the Moon, according to neutral pundit Phil Thompson - might win it, but Liverpool won't.

I worry about the players who might be interested in joining CL winners, might make their title drought shorter, I feel sick just thinking about it :nervous:

They won't be able to resist the lure of Klopp's hugs & the chance to play with Hendo the Magnificent and Dick van Dyke.

No they'e got no chance.
City are finally having a blip, and they were a tad unlucky with a big decision last night. Liverpool ain't all that, especially in midfield.

Liverpool play similar to us in 2008-2009. We used to just get the ball to Ronaldo, Liverpool just kick it to salah fingers
