It’ll be sweeter to see them lose to Roma or in the final.

Silver linings

Roma still need to be in the game come second leg
I don't see them beating Liverpool tho ugh

A one off game any shit can happen as we saw when Chelsea faced bayern or Liverpool faced Milan. Double ugh

The only thing weirder than cheering for Liverpool is people acting like Utd fans cheering for Liverpool is what somehow propelled them to beat City and will somehow make it inevitable they win the CL.
We literally have no impact on what's happening!

Obviously, but what we (those of us who want liverpool to fecking lose each time) said was going to happen has happened. It made no sense to cheer for liverpool when they could end up getting the «easy» route to the final ffs!

Yes. For posterity's sake. A tribute to the mental gymnastics used by various posters to support Liverpool at various stages.

Hoping that doesn't happen though.

Are there really any United fans actively cheering Liverpool to win the CL, though?

I haven't noticed any to be fair.

Apparently im not a 'fan' anymore according to the black and white thread-title.

.. For thinking it would be better to have Real Madrid (notorious at stepping up in big matches) meet Liverpool in the final, than having the chance of being blasted out at Anfield like City, and then having to catch up at Bernabeu, where they just lost 3-1.

Who cares if they go to the final, the most important thing must be that they're not winning it. Crap thread title.

So you’d like them to progress another round to the final? weird logic by a ‘united’ fan

They’ll love it if they win, will finally be able to count the amount of European Cups they’ve won on one hand.

I,m just totally relieved that it's Liverpool v Roma and not City , who definitely would have dicked Roma !
It will hurt if the Scoucers get to the final but nowhere in comparison to the alternative.

I won’t be cheering on Liverpool in this one.

Roma stand as good a chance of knocking them out as the other two.

You cant be a real United Fan if you want the dippers to win anything.

Ugh, i can just hear them now, 6 times, 6 times its our year......

COME ON ROMA!

People are acting like Liverpool are going to sneak their way to the CL. First of all, they aren't going to even get past Roma. Second, they won't beat Madrid in the final. Third, if they do manage to beat Madrid that means they got through City, Madrid and Roma and if they're that good then maybe the deserve the thing but it won't happen.

This team is going to collapse bad against Roma.

Thank you! I was worried there for a minute

Would 6 times really be that much more painful to utd fans than 5 times? Surely a less painful option than welcoming Citeh into the elite group that has won this competition.

The hysterical bellends are gonna win it - on penalties in the Final, it's now looking almost like a certainty to me.

And it's your fault, people who supported them to win in the QF.

It's appalling.

No love lost for Liverpool, but I genuinely don't know who I'd root for in a Liverpool - Real final.

That said, I have no pretense of being a "true" United fan, whatever that may entail (entail is not the right word I think).

To be honest, I violently dislike Ajax domestically, being our historic rival, but I can cheer for them in Europe just fine. Guess I just care too little or something.

The reality is that this is the tie Roma we’re desperate for...

You got it wrong mate, Roma were hoping to avoid the fab 3 of Salah, Firmino and Mane and would prefer getting their arse handed to them by Ronaldo. Best attack in Europe La'

Honestly couldn't care less about City. Very quickly got over them winning the league, and would very quickly get over them winning the CL. There's nothing organic about City. They're not the noisy neighbours anymore, they're a synthetic plaything bears no resemblance to the club that United had a rivalry with.

Liverpool winning the CL again is the stuff of nightmares. Not quite as much of a nightmare as if you somehow found your way to a league title, but a nightmare nonetheless.

If Liverpool do beat Roma and get to the final, they'll have beaten the following sides in this year's competition;

Maribor
Spartak Moscow
Porto
Man City
Roma

Champions League

I doubt any Utd fan was cheering for the scousers to win the whole thing. What some (including myself) were hoping for was that Pool knock Shitty out, to be later binned by another top team. If City qualified to semis I'd be really worried. Pool will bottle it, hopefully.

And now they are facing a very winable tie in the SF..

If it was Shitty vs Roma, I'd say that Shitty are in the final. Not so sure about scousers. Also I presume that either of Real or Bayern would have more problems against shitty, whereas Pool to seem to be a more beatable opponent.

Let’s hope so! Still, I’d rather take my chances with City in the SF/final.

Doesn't explain why someone would want them to draw Roma. You do know there's a 4th team still in the competition? And if Madrid are so good that you want them in the final meeting Liverpool why not prefer them playing Roma ?

Weren't City the favourites? We're unbeaten and the highest goalscorers too. We can only beat what's in front of us.

Have a look through some of their previous roads to European success, there’s some easy rides in there. You can only beat what’s in front of you though.

Had a pretty difficult run last time to be fair. Juventus, Mourinho's Chelsea and an all time great AC Milan.

City were the in form team in Europe too.

I meant the historical ones:

Trabzon, St Etienne, Gladbach
Dresden, Benfica, Brugge
Benfica, Bucharest, Roma

81 I think was decent opposition. What I mean is it’s hardly Bayern/Barca in the group and Inter/Juve on the way to beating Bayern again.

Roma might not be such an easy proposition after the way they turned Barcelona over in the QF. Hopefully they can put Liverpool out so they don't get anywhere that trophy. I do think this competition is wide open though.
Anyone but Liverpool.

I'm too young to have any meaningful knowledge on the quality of those teams, although Gladbach is infamous. Some suggest Madrid's first few were won against farmers.

Interesting. I get the feeling that Liverpol fans would welcome a premier league win over a champions league win whereas the opposite is probably true for utd fans. What say you?

Even when Messi loses, he still pisses me off. ;)
