Champions League Semi Finals (24th April - 2nd May)

A Liverpool fan in critical condition after last night! Hope he pulls through. 2 Roma fans arrested for the incident.
Can't help but feel Merseyside police have been utterly shambolic in Liverpool's last two home CL ties.
From tweeting the re-arranged bus route that would be taken by both coaches before their game against City; resulting in a trashed away team bus to the complete lack of control last night. There were fans setting off flares stood on top of police vans and 20/30 Roma fans, clearly looking for trouble, just waltzing into the home fan section unescorted and beating up innocent match-goers.
Absolutely no control over the fans whatsoever. Seemed as though they were more concerned with creating an atmosphere than actual policework!
And as a result an innocent old bloke wanting to watch his team has to suffer. Ridiculous.

Totally agree. How the feck can 30/40 Roma walk to the Kop end unnoticed ? Shithouses soon got put on their toes though.

Their usual MO is to split into groups of 30-50 individuals, hit fast and hard and then run and wait for the next chance, just as they did in liverpool. This way they usually manage to avoid police. In Rome though they might try attacking larger groups in an effort to try and pit them against the police. Given what happened 3 years ago with feyenoord roman police will likely be in no mood to try and reason, their response to unruly fan behaviour will likely be one of extreme brutality, beat the shit out of them, ask questions later

Oh and they will be armed with more than belts. Every derby police ends confiscating small arsenals. Knives, shivs, bats, crowbars, molotovs, guns, one time even fecking grenades.

It's a group of around 500/1000 individuals from the various ultras groups who are only interested in violence, they do this all the time whenever they have a chance.

Whoever gets to face Pool in finals, hope their best team would be fit and ready, with all their best defenders in the match. We saw how Real was without Ramos. They ll just get picked off by Pool.

Honestly don't know what runs in the heads of these blood thirsty cnuts to take a simple game of football so seriously and ruin it for everyone.

Kloppster's 6th final, 6 times la'.

Ronnie or Lewa should be destroying Lovren. Neither Reals nor Bayerns defense is the quickest, though.

Neither is United's but we still stopped them from scoring. Play a deep defensive line of 5 and then push your full backs forward in attack. You'll win most games against Liverpool this way.

Football is the excuse, not the reason. They are animals, plain and simple

They are very close, let's be honest. Liverpool will score at least one in Rome, and I don't see Roma scoring 4 or 5.
One of the great things about sport is its unpredictability.More than likely they will go through but its still to play for. These guys have surrendered leads before.....

It pains me to say it but I think they'll do it. An atrocious 2005 Liverpool team beat the following;

Dida

Maldini
Stam
Nesta
Cafu

Seedorf
Kaka
Gattuso
Pirlo

Crespo
Shevchenko

I hope and pray I'm wrong. I take hope from the fact that Liverpool tend to tire in the last 15 minutes of games, and their back line is vulnerable (as we saw v WBA and Roma).

They're dangerous, and everyone has underestimated them this season. I just hope Madrid don't (If Liverpool see the second leg through).
Didn't a slightly better one get to the final and lose the following year?

It's also a final, neutral ground. Not the intimidating Anfield of European nights. I'm not sure they'll go all out away from home and they've shown signs of vulnerability away

Hope Madrid goes through. Ronaldo is our only hope to stop Liverpool. Bayern would also be favorites, but I don’t trust them. Ronaldo and Madrid, on the other hand, will be huge favorites. The CL masters.

2016, Ronaldo vs Atletico Madrid, the most defensively drilled team imaginable.
2017, Ronaldo vs Juventus, veteran defenders a-plenty with one of the most revered keepers of all time to beat.
2018, Ronaldo vs Lovren, Karius in goal

I'd rather Madrid beat Liverpool than Bayern, but I'm not too fussy at this stage. Still holding hope for a Rome collapse next week, mind, for the ultimate LOL...

But they never seem to want to go toe to toe. Cowards and shithouses. I've always said this and believe it to be true. You can have 100 latins against 30 English lads and we'll still twat youse going toe to toe. That's not the Latin way though. Like you've said youse hit out the unexpected and get on your toes once confronted. Shithouses. Just spoken to my nephew and apparantly Roma got twatted on the walk back to town. The thing what upsets me about this is any Roma fan would have been seen as fair game and not just their lads. They most probably would have just mingled in with the ordinary supporter. Shithouses. As Redman said before this is just a prelude for next week . It saddens me.

The crazy thing is that this is a team that in every position each player was world class at some point in their careers but at that point only one who was playing at that level. Kaka. Unbelievable team on paper probably one of the best ever if you had taken each player at their peak.

Anyway.

Football stuff.

Those two Roma goals worry me.

Nah, they've gotta play on the front foot, & there's no chance they keep Salah/Mane/Firmino out for 90 minutes.

They won’t pull another shocking comeback like that, Liverpool won’t be as complacent as Barca, and you will be ready to punish them while they commit everyone forward.

You’re in the final. I’d be worried about Madrid/Bayern if I were you.

Liverpool were within a hair's breadth of capitulating in the first half at the Etihad and were extremely fortunate to be only 1-0 down at the break. I would not wish to replicate that start v Roma if I were a Liverpool fan as they've shown time and again they are not to be trusted defending leads and consistently concede goals in quick succession (they've done it twice this week already). No other top team does it as frequently and it must instil fear into Liverpool supporters' minds ahead of the return leg.

Fecking state of this thread

Why people panic like dippers are minutes away from winning the CL? Di Francesco played straight into their hands with his brainless gameplan. Neither Heynckes nor Zidane are that stupid. Italian teams are shit anyway.

Think that Liverpool have much better chances vs Bayern than vs Real. Real's defence would have difficulties vs the front three but Ronaldo, Isco, Modric, Bale, Benz, Asensio, etc would create tons of chances against this Liverpool defence, especially if Liverpool try to high-press Real's defence into errors.

Not really. Roma is not as good as City in its attacking department and won't be able to consistently apply the same kind of pressure City did. Also, they have to come at us which suits us perfectly to counter attack and exploit the spaces with our attacking trio. I have next to no fear for the return, if anything I expect a win or at least two away goals.

People keep going on about the 3-0 against Barcelona and while Roma deservedly went through, Barcelona were atrocious that night. We won't go into that game with no attacking intentions just because we already have the lead. You're clutching at straws really, the sooner you accept we're going to the final with a 95% probability, the better for you.

I still can't get over how appalling Roma were.

What the feck was that?

Atrocious approach. It’s like they got a little optimistic after the good start and believed they were going to do them over. Sackable game management from the manager, if this was his plan it shows he has no idea about how Liverpool play - which is quite remarkable.

Bayern please.
The cuckolds on here wanting Madrid to win it three times in 3 seasons are beyond me, talk about an inferiority complex.

Bayern winning will not change anything too much, however a madrid/liverpool win only puts us further behind everyone else

You’re really REALLY good at turning a great result for Liverpool into a negative.

Do you think aroma will keep a clean sheet in the second leg?

Hope Bayern put on a clinic.

Shame about Neuer still being injured. Hoping Ulrich won't let them down.

You're making it sound like it's an impossibility. They've got one foot in the final and then it's a one-off game. Whether the team they're playing against is better on paper or not is almost irrelevant. Shit can happen. I certainly think that Madrid's defence can be got at (if they get to the final) and i haven't really seen much of Munich so can't comment, but they haven't been tested yet. There's a good possibility that they will win it, especially with Salah who can basically score from anywhere at the moment. It's not a crazy notion.

I'd say its 50/50 that Roma keep a clean sheet.

If EDF goes with the 4-3-3 like he should than Roma will dominate the game. Of course they are going to give up chances given the fact they have to push for it, but their defense wont have a horror show again like last night, which was mostly due to the high line. I'm also confident that Roma can put 4 or 5 past Liverpool. They should have left Anfield with 3 or 4 goals last night, unfortunately that 50 minute blackout through the middle of the game really cost them. A lot of people talk about Barca just being "bad" that 2nd leg against Roma, but don't credit Roma for absoloutely smothering them and not giving them a chance to get anything going in that match, Liverpool can expect the same next week.

That being said, it's still 75-80% that Liverpool advance, but they wont win in Rome.

When you put it like that!

We know Mo Salah wielded the dagger but I think Gini Wijnaldum changed this game when he came off the bench.

He ran the Roma midfield and back line ragged and it was like Liverpool almost had an extra player on the pitch.

Generally, it's quite rare for an early, unwarranted substitution (Ox's) to benefit the team - but on this occasion, Liverpool took full advantage and I think Gini simply stuck his chest out and said I'm going to show my quality and should have been picked in the first place.

Funnily all of the semi final teams have Hugo Boss as their sponsor:
Hope Bayern put on a clinic.

Jupp will not play a high line. With a high line the difference between Neuer and Ulreich would really be showing - on the line Ulreich was really fantastic lately. He cost us two points at the beginning in the season when he came in with Ancelotti as coach. But Heynckes and Tapalovic (the goalkeeper coach) really did wonders with him. He once was a mediocre keeper - but this season he really has been outstanding and saved us some points. It is not just Bayern fans that want him to go to the World Cup especially if Neuer misses out.

it's about the same level, basically penis size arguments of people on an internet forum who take pride in what other people have achieved or not achieved, resulting in bad mood on both sides since they're reminded of shitty events in their fan history
Call it what you want, I think it's dumb as feck

Please go back an read the whole conversation before making these remarks.

On serious note, I hope Bayern wins as I think they have a better chance against Livepool.

Is anyone giving Bayern a chance over these two legs? Everyone i've spoken too thinks Real will go through quite comfortably. Bayern had them on the ropes last year before the ref fulfilled his agreement with Perez.

Look at that team! Obviously not all at their peak but blimey, on paper amazing.
