Champions League Semi Finals (24th April - 2nd May)

they just got lucky with the draw. klopp is overrated. he might play entertaining football, but mourinho at on more trophies and he had a harder rebuilding job. finishes 2nd in the league too.

tried to sum up all excuses in one post
In which aspect did Mourinho have harder rebuilding job? If Klopp wins the Champions League will you still call him overrated? they are playing better and better every season while playing really entertaining football and introducing some young players too.. For every feck up they make, we feck up games too like WBA and many many others because of the negative tactic, so in the end at least their fans can watch some football whereas we are bored to death to. If Klopp wins the champions league, he will have achieved more than Mourinho for sure while again being entertaining, no matter the draw.. draw is a draw sometimes you get lucky sometimes you don't, they would have played Barcelona if they massively didn't feck up..

The fact is that we hate Liverpool, they have Klopp and so we hate him but I think he would have been much better fit for us than Mourinho. Just looking at the defense and a goalie, which we are comfortably better, can only see some great things we could have done attacking wise, the likes of Rashford and Martial would have been unleashed, Lingard would have thrived even more, Herrera would have been the integral part of the high pressing team, maybe even Mkhitaryan story would have been different and we wouldn't be in a market for 2nd class players because we have money, anyways that's just speculation but let's not bash Klopp as he's objectively done well so far

True we only won 3 of the last 4 CL. I dont understand how can you be a Madrid fan and be pessimistic. And what makes you think they are better than last year?

They lost their best player (Neuer) and best defensive midfielder (Vidal) and Robben and Ribery arn't getting any younger, and if we fail we will be able to finally fire Zidane and Benzema so it's all good.
But Thiago,Javi Martinez, Müller or James are in a very good form,+ Heynckes.
After a 0-3 in the last C.L match I don't see reasons to be optimistic.
2 consecutive champions and semifinals and you would sack Zidane?
I doubt it's the majority sentiment.Who would you bring?

Since when is Vidal our best defensive midfielder? I’m soooo glad he can’t play. He’s just a catastrophe waiting to happen and a headless chicken. And that’s what people mistake for „drive“ and „leadership“.

Rashford and Martial would never be Salah or Mane no matter who managed them.
I take your point we would most likely been much more entertaining but Liverpool's success is based on having 3 attacking players performing at world class level and in Salahs case the very highest level.

Ulreich has been performing surprisingly well all over the season, our best defensive midfielder is Martinez, while Vidal has been very erratic in his performances this season. Ribery has been really good, too in the past weeks. Only Robben is a bit of a concern, as he really lacks in productivity nowadays.
Anyway, I expect this to be as close as last year.

I am not gonna argue if our younger attackers could match theirs but I don't think that Mane is better than Rashford at all, both are more kick and run players and Martial looked world class too few seasons back and is also excellent dribbler. With Klopp we would be getting the ball higher up the pitch attacking with a lot more space. They both are deadly with open defenses like we have seen, maybe would have to work more on decision making but add Lukaku to that we could be seing something special, the problem is that now we are waiting in our half and it is just hard to make the transition with midfield a bit cut of from attacking and there's too much ground to make to the opposition goal, too many possible actions for bad decision making and for the oppo team to slow the game down or get the ball back. It would be totally different then under Mourinho.

I think Rashford would develop into a world class player under Klopp and absolutely thrive in the system. I´d love to have him. Not so sure about Martial´s fit. Mane is a top class player, but I think Rashford could push him to the bench.

The most amazing development to me is Milner at age 32. I wonder what his career would have been like, if he had met Klopp at age 22. Or if he was on the other side of the pitch in 2009, when the German World Cup winning core drubbed England in the U21 Euros final. Even back then I thought Milner was the only English player that looked like he belonged on the same pitch.

I agree with all but the extent of the likely improvement. Martial was top class a couple of years ago but nowhere near the level of Salah. On his day Rashford can be excellent but he is still very inconsistent.
For me it shows the difference that one world class attacking player can make to a team, he drags all the other players along with him.
Without Salah Liverpool wouldn't be on the verge of a CL final. Same if Martial or Sanchez was in his place.
Need tactics and the right players to implement the tactics.

A few changes around the midfield area and a right winger, then we could be up there challenging City next season and challenging for Champions League.

I agree that Rashford would be well suited to Liverpool's playing style, I don't think he is ready yet however.

At least the Roma bus got through without serious injury, phew.

Horrible, shithouse supporters. That's a mere prelude to what'll happen in Rome next week. More so if we do get through to the final. AS Roma have issued a statement condemning the violence, however they referred to it as 'clashes between the 2 sets of fans'. It wasn't a clash, it was a pre-meditated attack on innocent fans. One of which, is now fighting for his life in hospital.

I’d rather face Bayern than Madrid tbh. Thought they were poor against Sevilla, especially in the first leg where they scores two deflected goals. I also don’t want Ronaldo to face off against our defence.
Either one. They'd be more scared of you than you of them.

Liverpool have nothing to lose

Real Madrid will be more scared of Liverpool?
They have more to lose. Bigger reputation. Yes I believe they'd rather be facing Bayern in the final than Liverpool.

Madrid need to show up in their next games. They were piss poor in the 1/4s against Juve.Play like that again and they'd lose.

The one advantage both could have against Liverpool is that it's a one off on a neutral ground. RM have been there so many times, they kind of have the know how to get past teams whoever it is. Liverpool's home advantage has been telling of late but I still question them away from Anfield

They also have much more to gain should they make it there. To 3-peat the CL elevates them above the Barca sextuple.

Madrid were poor defensively for 1 leg against Juve, where Ramos didn’t play, he’s back.

Agreed that RM are much more experienced.

it is not just luck but I agree that he get overrated thanks to its football style based on intensity but as soon as that intensity goes down the limits of its poor defensive phase come out. Mou is past his best, but is for sure more effective to get trophies

You guys act like its clear that Real will beat Bayern or is some kind of favorite.

Last year was a 50:50, where Real was extremely "lucky" in the 2nd leg. This time, under treble winner Heynckes, Bayern is stronger than last season and most players are fit and ready to go (they werent last season), while Real seems weaker than last season.

Klopp vs Heynckes all over again, in Heynckes very last season, would be the real deal.

Forgot about that. Feck yeah.

He is still such a key figure for them. A leader and so competitive.

Who would be your front 3? Bale was so useless last time out

I bet they're hoping you really believe that

Exceptionally naive (or stupid) from Roma last night. They were continually getting caught out by the same fecking ball for about a 20 minute period in the fist half. Liverpool literally lumped the ball over the top to Salah or Mane and it was crippling Roma. They played right into their hands.

Simple but very effective from Liverpool. Not that Klopp would ever admit to being a long ball team of course.

Madrid will need to step up tonight, if they play like they’ve been playing they’ll lose

It's not head to head matches that count - the best team is the one that wins the league.
In CL it is all about head to head.
There is no debate that City were the best team in the league or that Liverpool have the beating of them.

Why is everyone behaving like Liverpool is in the final already? They have to go to Roma, they tend to have meltdowns like laat 10 mins yesterday and so many times before. Roma did Barca, they can do Liverpool. I just hope they learned from their mistakes yesterday, and with help from their fans they can do it again. I refuse to put Liverpool in final. I still believe! Or I will become biggest Real or Bayern fan. Ever.

I really really hope there won't be any troubles with the fans but i fully expect the roma ultras to come after you guys next week in Rome. If you go or know anyone who's going be very careful. The city has proved time and again it is woefully incapable of stopping ultras violence

It happened last night outside the Albert. About 30/40 of them appeared from nowhere and started twatting people just having a pint. Liverpool realised what was happening and legged the cheeky twats. I actually threw a dig when they were running past . Been feckin ages since Ive done that. They got legged to the Anfield Road and then hid behind the bizzies and started having a go again. Typical Italian shithouses. After the game the amount of lads by Everton Valley meeting up was unreal . Its been ages since Ive seen anything like that . Roma most probably got an escort into town as Liverpool were in no mood to feck about.

In Rome they wont come near us but will pick off the lad walking home pissed by himself. It happens everytime we play them. Shithouses.

And yes. My 21 year old nephew is going and Ive already drummed it into him and will continue to do so. Do not go off on your own.

Just the idea of Liverpool winning the Champions league scares me. I hope Roma have something left in the return leg. Otherwise Hala Madrid

And another thing: lazio ultras might not be friendly either. The groups of those two clubs are known to attack visiting fans while pretending to be from the other club to make trouble for them and the club

Never be alone, keep your wits about at all times, try to stay in big groups, try to stay in areas patrolled by police/army. Those are my suggestions. This wouldn't be an issue in milan, but roman ultras are insane

A Liverpool fan in critical condition after last night! Hope he pulls through. 2 Roma fans arrested for the incident.
Can't help but feel Merseyside police have been utterly shambolic in Liverpool's last two home CL ties.
From tweeting the re-arranged bus route that would be taken by both coaches before their game against City; resulting in a trashed away team bus to the complete lack of control last night. There were fans setting off flares stood on top of police vans and 20/30 Roma fans, clearly looking for trouble, just waltzing into the home fan section unescorted and beating up innocent match-goers.
Absolutely no control over the fans whatsoever. Seemed as though they were more concerned with creating an atmosphere than actual policework!
And as a result an innocent old bloke wanting to watch his team has to suffer. Ridiculous.

I still remember that the cafe preferred Liverpool to go past City because they thought LFC couldn’t go past the semis and your lot wanted to prevent a perfect season for Citeh. Now you’re scared, lol. Be wary of what you wish for

It pains me to say it but I think they'll do it. An atrocious 2005 Liverpool team beat the following;

Dida

Maldini
Stam
Nesta
Cafu

Seedorf
Kaka
Gattuso
Pirlo

Crespo
Shevchenko

I hope and pray I'm wrong. I take hope from the fact that Liverpool tend to tire in the last 15 minutes of games, and their back line is vulnerable (as we saw v WBA and Roma).

They're dangerous, and everyone has underestimated them this season. I just hope Madrid don't (If Liverpool see the second leg through).

My mate came home with 200 stiches in 2001. Same old story. Walking back to his hotel on his own and woke up in hospital. The Ultras are shithouses and would never approach 200/300 lads in the main square or something. United fans know this too. Like I said as soon as Liverpool knew what was going on last night Roma got legged and hid behind the bizzies. Shithouses. After the game Everton Valley was moody as feck and a revenge mission was on the cards. United fans know what can happen in those parts. Birmingham got twatted there too in 2002 when Liverpool were on a revenge mission after some of our lads got slashed in a pre season in Birmingham. I chose to get off last as can't be arsed with it.
