Champions League Semi Finals (24th April - 2nd May)

But why though?

Why set up with a high line against Liverpool? It's basic coaching to know not to do that. Did he not do any analysis of Liverpool?

Roma feel out of place in the semi final, the manager doesn't really know how to handle these situations.

He probably felt that this semi-final was a 'freebie' because of the Barca tie. So he tred to dominate the game.

Roma were actually quite good when they switched to a more traditional formation. Play a narrow back 4 to stop runs into the box and play long balls for Dzeko to run onto.

It’s not suicide football if you win !
Too many people, managers, players forget that above all football is supposed to be a ( very expensive ) entertainment business, far too many dull games with teams playing not to lose or score on the break.Klopp and Liverpool should be applauded for going for it and reaping the rewards

Not bad if we're second in the league then is it?

To be above this magical team and their fantastic manager must mean something at our end no?

I still think so, yes at the moment he is a better manager and he would have been a perfect fit to us. I dont think bringing the previous trophies make much difference cause at the end what matters is winning the league and the champions league at their current clubs what matters and at the moment Klopp has a good chance of winning the UCL.
Oh, if we're not allowed to bring up previously won trophies then Klopp is a better manager than Sir Alex.

And we're ahead of Liverpool in the league.

Ok, I can't believe people comparing Klopp to Jose on a game where Roma were 10 times worst than Sevilla. They are a cr*p team. Anyway, I think Liverpool made it to the final. Bayern or Real should just watch Man Utd 2 Liverpool 1 game where Liverpool had 0 shots on target and I am sure they will win it. As simple as that. Jose's blueprint, eliminate Salah, game won.

Klopp can only play one way and that's attack, attack and attack.

Salah gets him out of a lot of trouble.

Dortmund played like that under him too.

Klopp always tends to get more than 100% out of his players quality wise. Many players seem to overperform under his fingers. He derserves a massive amount of credit for that alone in my opinion. Götze and Kagawa looked like world beaters under him too.

2nd or 3rd whats the deference? we did not win the league and we are in top 4.
You did not mention Klopp is in the final of the UCL with limited resources and a lesser team. Do you want me to name Liverpool's squad sir?

Those 2 late goals have got me hoping for a collapse.

Also shows the weaknesses we knew we're there and hopefully Real will explore that. Going to be some record though if Real do win the CL again. Absolute dominance of the top European trophy that hasn't been even nearly matched in the modern game.

I didn't mention it because he isn't.

It's probably better that I don't mention what I want you to do, sir.

If Real get through they should be favourites, how LFC are this close to the final with that defense fecking baffles me. Then again how Barca lost to Roma baffles me too.
It's amazing really. Average defense that makes a lot of mistakes and a bang average midfield. It's amazing really. Weakest finalist since when? Chelsea weren't that good in 2012 but maybe you've got to go back a decade to find a weaker finalist. Hopefully class will tell and reality comes back for the final and they are cannon fodder but I am fearful.

You miss my point completely the key word is ENTERTAINMENT.
In all honesty how many times have United played entertaining, enjoyable football in the last 3 or 4 years ?
Yes our results have improved, yes we are above Liverpool in the lge but it is them blasting there way through the champions lge while we play with fear against Seville and pay the price

Roma was a disaster to watch. Gave Liverpool a final on a silver plate.

Can Liverpool beat Real or Bayern in the final? That's the question now.

In a one off anything is possible. Liverpool would be the underdog either way though.

Klopp vs. Heynckes final again would really be exciting. Especially with Hummels and Lewy playing against Klopp this time.

Awful decision to take Salah off. Why? Rest him for the big game against Stoke? Seeing Danny Ings take his place must have been just the boost Roma players needed to go and make a game of it again.

Why? Because he might have been injured. They were 5 nil up, nothing wrong with that decision.

That's why I dont him start Croatia games at the WC.
I totally agree re Lovren, I can't wait for him to be replace next season. He's been like this for 4 years now..he makes every player around him nervous

You have to admire him , he has gone out to blow the opposition away and as a result will at least make the champions lge final , he has really moved Liverpool on , created a fantastic team spirit , the players love him,the fans love him,Christ I hate Liverpool but even I love him.
Hopefully Ronny will do them in the final but I wouldn’t bet on it,because they will scare Madrid’s defence to death.
So annoyed that it takes Liverpool and City our worst enemies to show us how to play in Europe , play with no fear let the opposition worry about you and pace scares defenders, how I wish we could play this way
Like when we tried that against Barca in 2011 and didn't do that against Barca in 2008?

We have quality players, we spent much more than the other clubs behind us, you cant compare our players to Liverpool can't you?
So let me see if I understand you. Klopp is a better manager despite Liverpool being behind us, not having nearly as many trophies as Mourinho, while Mourinho has accomplished a trophy haul in every league he's gone to... all because you like the way he plays and that the players love him... and the primary reason we are above Liverpool is because we have a bigger spending bill? That's a very Scouse level of thinking for someone who is supposedly a United fan of 32 years.

Mate. I don't even know where to begin, but comparing the trophy hauls of the 2 managers, shows that Klopp cannot even be mentioned in the same breath as Jose.
After Klopp has one several more league titles and actually won the CL, then he can be.
And to suggest that Klopp is better?

And some advice: for your own sanity and well being, go support Liverpool and Klopp. You'll be a lot happier. ;)
could not of put it better myself, a United fans saying Liverpool have the best manager when it is clearly WRONG is shocking, Klopp is not a better manager and if it was not for Mo would not even be in the Semi Final/Final

Mane is clearly the weakest out of that front three. Which is weird because last season he was perhaps the best out of Coutinho, Mane and Firmino? Firmino has improved a lot this season.

Not sure if serious?
If it were, say, 3-2 in the 80th minute, I wouldn't think the tie is completely done just given Liverpool's defending. Yes, practically speaking, it would be over, but essentially I meant that it would be harder to stop them Liverpool from scoring than it would be for Roma to score 4 or 5 goals.

No! They got lucky with Porto and Roma in the CL knockouts and they really should have lost to City if it were not for all those awful referring decisions.
Lol.

Delusional surely? We deserved to lose today as well am i right?!

Like when we tried that against Barca in 2011 and didn't do that against Barca in 2008?

Tried what against Barca .?
We had the best right winger in the world but played him at centre forward, and the best centre forward in England if not Europe and we played him out side ,because we were afraid of Messi ...feck Messi let them worry about Ronny and Rooney

Or how about when we beat Bayern by coming to life only when we were on the verge of losing.
Teams in Europe love it when English teams try and play them at there own game but they sh1t themselves when English clubs go all guns blazing at them, we should play on the front foot and let them worry about us

You're right that is a ridiculous post. You guys have utterly torn up the knock out stages. I'm not sure I've seen a team storm to a Champions League final with such comprehensive scorelines.

Ye cnuts!

They're through mate, stop clutching at straws!

Roma started well and held high line to press Liverpool in opening 15 minutes. But after that, they started losing possession to Liverpool and still decided to hold high line. I dont understand why they dont drop deeper when Liverpool had the ball.

Now....Cmon' Jupp.

And after watching some 30 mins of the match, i was trying to recall Roma's formation/starting XI and i could count only 10. That Cengiz guy was invisible throughout the first half.
