They aren't 3rd because they only lost to Barcelona and Atletico. They are 3rd by a big gap (15 points) because of losses to Espanyol and Leganes and Girona. How does the same argument used for Liverpool not apply to Madrid here?

After considering the performances from the likes of PSG, Roma, and of course, ourselves at United, and watching these semi-finals, I can't help thinking this has been the poorest CL in many seasons.
Look at this semi... 4-7 on aggregate, with 40 minutes to go? This game could end 4-4. Some of the defending, across both semi-finals, and throughout the competition, has been absolutely embarrassing. Lower league stuff.
