Champions League Round of 16 fixtures

really? i'm very impressed by milan's defense

the way they managed messi and iniesta today was sublime

even though is not the first time barcelona gets beaten in the champions league, this is the first time i think that the result didnt depent on luck

remember how they crashed the ball three times against chelsea? and how they were disallowed a valid goal against inter?

this time they where properly beaten
The first goal was a hand ball

Milan defend well but Barca have enough in their locker to open them up.

Main issue for Barca is if Messi can even half turn up. They seem to have made their attack too dependent on him, understandable given he is possibly the best of all time but also a problem area if he is out of touch. It is really hard to see Barca team scoring against good teams if Messi is not playing well.

It's been coming, tbh. They've conceded a lot of goals this season but Messi and co. have bailed them out in the past.

Defensively, they look very brittle, certainly not strong enough to win the CL this season.

Unlike Inter and Chelsea who had quite a bit of element of luck about their wins against Barca, this was nothing like that. Despite the handball, Milan were the better team and I can't remember Abiati doing anything all match.

That is a shocker. Wish I had seen the 2nd half of the Milan-Barca game. But does anyone think Milan actually have a chance at the Nou Camp? I still feel Barca will cruise in the 2nd leg since they are at home.

Depends if they get an early goal

They scored in a minute last time, didn't they?

Why not? Think them and PSG could be the surprise packages.

But hypothetically speaking, if Barca were to go out and we beat Madrid, then our only real challengers will be Bayern. I think we can take on anyone else who comes through this knockout round.

We though they'd do that against Chelsea and didn't.They are now up against a 2-0 deficit. The last time they faced that, they didn't make it either

They did get a penalty and got a Chelsea player sent off in that game though so Sam has a point.

I can't see Barca scoring 3 without conceding any. This Milan side know how to play and they'll apply similar tactics as today and be very very hard to breakdown. They've done it a couple of times at the Camp Nou recently and I think Barca will win 2/3-1 but head out on away goals. Really don't see Barca winning this 3-0

This guy must hate Barca right now.

All other results he got right.

Does he win anything at all for getting 7 of 8 right?

Pretty big mountain to climb to turn this heavy/unjust result around, credit to the Rossoneri. They played excellent, denying space and stayed very disciplined around the box - the 2nd goal was terrific work started by Niang and finished by Muntari via a deft touch from Al Shaarawy.

Thomson was mostly on point for the night but a shocking fail on Boateng's first goal - clear handball, even the Milanese players thought it was going to be ruled out. Makes the return leg a near mission impossible but home advantage has it's perks - odds are against it. They are going to have to try & find solutions for the same defense, not very promising

So, If, Just If, Madrid and Barca both go out in this round can the "la liga is way stronger than the premiership" people just be quiet for a while?

We'll see how this Milan team cope when they get the mandatory red card at the Nou Camp.

They've got a great chance now. It's always said but the first 20 minutes will be crucial. If Milan can score, Barca will have to score four.

Does he win anything at all for getting 7 of 8 right?

Coral have given him tickets for the Barca/Milan 2nd leg apparently as a reward for getting so close. Predicting 7 accurate scores from 8 is phenomenal.

Delighted from a utd point of view. I think they will do enough in the nou camp.

If we can get past Madrid, this competition is very open and winnable.

No worries, Milan will be down to 10 men very quickly in the return leg.

Because the Premier League clubs have been peerless in the CL this season?

If, just if, all 3 German teams progress... nah, I'll leave it.

TBH we don't need to fear anyone right now. We've proved that against the better opposition we play better.

I feel with Rooney,RVP and a defence that's getting meaner we have as good a chance as anyone out there.

I mean how many teams right now will want us

Dortmund says "hi".

With a name like Simon "Torres" Pike, he was always going to be a near miss :D

Barca definitely need to invest in a top striker. If Messi is isn't on his game, they look lost.

Yep

He's probably referring to the first goal but even then, Barca have no excuses.

They didn't work Abbiati at all and played too many square passes around the penalty area.

Milan weren't saved by the woodwork or wayward finishing like Chelsea last season, they actually defended excellently.
