Champions League Round of 16 (15th Feb - 16th Mar)

I agree but United was awful. This team is awful for any striker they create no chances.

Hoping for vintage Ronaldo.
Have you not seen the chances he has missed over the last month? Where did this not creating chances myth come from?

Nice post. You hear so much about not getting enough service but as far as xG is concerned Ronaldo is 12th on the team.

Honestly, the not creating chance argument must come from simply looking at the final score line. Our attackers have been stupidly wasteful but the chances Ronaldo is missing is now bordering on comical.
We have scored the second most amount of goals since Ralph took over in the league and that’s on top of our forward line missing chance after chance after chance. We have picked up a bit now to be fair

Wow crazy stat, didn’t realize that. Good luck on the second leg, I think you guys will be much better at home.

Yeah, a one off. He literally missed a tap in from 2 yards last Sunday
We are talking about yesterday and yes United offensively is awful. They have no style of play and struggle to create chances. It’s not a one off.

That was one game yesterday. For almost every other game for the last several weeks, United have created tonnes of chances and have not been getting the results due to missed sitter after missed sitter - with Ronaldo probably being the worst offender.

Real are a different beast with a fit and firing Big Benz. PSG be afraid.
We still got Carvajal or Lucas on the pitch. As long as PSG can isolate Mbappé against them, we're screwed

That said, Bernabeu in CL is a scary place

If I was United manager I’d try and instil the mentality that we need to win the CL to get ‘top 4’. Keep the focus on just qualifying for next years iteration.

They’d think that’s the least they deserve and not bottle the opportunity.

Make me United’s chief sports psychologist right now.

They might not have Mbappé for Wednesday.

“Kylian Mbappé is uncertain for Wednesday. Injured in training this morning!”

If Real Madrid could knock out PSG that would be fantastic.

If Salzburg do Bayern, I would be absolutely delighted.

I have the feeling we're going out tonight. Neuer just back after surgery, missing half of our DM options with Goretzka and Tolisso out, no Phonzy, Müller having a huge dip in form, Gnabry also a bit off - our squad is largely in disarray and seems incapable of producing a convincing performance for the last few weeks already.

The last 2 or 3 times I saw Müller play he was absolutely atrocious.

Still I do not see Bayern going out tonight.

Feck, I do hope Bayern wins it. Can't afford to have any English clubs taking it again.

We are in terrible form, Naggelsman harakiri football where he plays 7 attackers from the start disregarding all balance cannot hold vs a top side, even if we survive Salzburg

I have a horrible feeling too, but it's not quite so bad that I think we'll actually lose at home today. I think we'll make it, but the fact that it doesn't seem impossible we won't is quite astonishing.

I just don't get it, Nagelsmann says all the right things, how we need to control possession, calm the game down, but then he talks like it's a matter of our midfielder's mindsets?
And not down to the fact that the very formation he is setting the team up is something like 3-1-6, or 2-2-6? How are we supposed to keep the ball when every passing option is vertically forward and all our players are crowding in front of the opponents goal?

I'll post the Inter team once it's up.

Edit: Here it is.

Naggelsman with the 3-1-6 lineup again

All of Coman, Gnabry and Sané is just too much. We've seen before that it doesn't work. Honestly I didn't think the guy would be so stubborn and so dumb.

Inter setting up to try and get in behind our high line. Interesting game coming up. First goal very important.

Musiala looks like a primary school kid stood next to these Bayern vetetans

Bayern all at sea already. Should be 1-0 down.

Inter playing really well if they can keep up the intensity for 90 minutes they go through.

Not sure if anyone from the US is on this thread rn but paramount + is doing a multicast and it is absolutely genius for the neutral. Can watch both games together and the commentry just switches to the game that is more exciting at the time.
