Champions League Round of 16 (13th Feb - 14th Mar)

We have a very spirited team but technically not on par of some of our teams in recent past much less than current top5 in Europe but I'm hoping Liverpool shits their pants and we take advantage of that.

Very good but they haven't faced an attack close in quality to Liverpool's and they're missing Felipe and Danilo. I have no idea how to predict tonight's games, no result would surprise me.
thank you both very much. Was thinking a extremely small bet on more than 5 goals, just for coffe and juice. All goals in Liverpool net of course. Everybody is talking about goal fest in other game, but not so sure. Think PSG coach has that Barca game on his mind. This one kinda smells like goals, maybe because no one really cares (or talks) about it, because of Madrid game. Shame. Think it migh be more interesting.

Pereira and Telles vs. Salah and Mane should be a really interesting duel.

United should be looking at Telles as a possible summer signing imo, he's having a great season and he might have the best delivery from set pieces in the world. I'm still not 100% sold on Ricardo Pereira but we'll see how he does, this Liverpool attack should cause them both a lot of problems.

Which one of them has a chance to win City? That team I want to win...
PSG are the better side and would pose the biggest threat to Man City but I would prefer the strongest teams to be eliminated. PSG and Barcelona especially. It would really open things up if those two went out.

On that note you are correct, but I don’t consider Matuidi and Khedira to be very different as players, or in quality to be honest. Marchisio was on the bench, Juve could have played more conservatively with 3 in the midfield, regardless of having Matuidi, so I wouldn’t think his presence would change much tactically. Fair enough Dybala, you’re right about that, but I did concede that. Spurs also missing their best defender to be fair.

Good points mate. One has to admit that Spurs played very well after blundering in the first few minutes. I admired their composure, confidence and tactical awareness.

Fair point about them also missing their key defender but it will be interesting to see how they fare without Kane. Having him upfront gives them tremendous advantage in most games because he is such a fine finisher.

He's one of the great overachievers of the modern game, have no idea what managers see in him. Honestly, by rolling out his honours list you'd actually think he's one of the great midfielders but he's far from it. Again, i'd like to know what he's good at? he's far from a premier ball winner, not much of a passer, certainly isn't much of an attacking threat, can't handle the ball in tight spaces, he isn't one you'd class as someone who's an expert at protecting the defence...while i did cite yesterday's much as an example, the man has been mediocre for eons now. The Madrid midfield went up a level when Modric then Kroos replaced him.

I think he is only good in standing in the way of other players and occupying space, literally. He is a destroyer of flow. It is save to say that no other football player achieved so much without actually playing ball.

Why would they be without Kane?

For feck sake - bloody RTE have decided that showing Liverpool Porto is a better idea than Real PSG. Clowns.

Why would they be without Kane?

Injury, suspension etc.? Not wishing him any of those but what I was trying to say is that you know how strong teams are when their key men is missing? How do they fare? Credit to Spurs for their performances but are they a 'one' man team?

Just heard this is the first time in 9 years Liverpool are in the knockout phase of the CL.

Got a feeling Real will batter PSG, 3-1 or 4-1.

Which means that it'll end 0-0.

Good game of football awaits of us most likely but sadly I can’t pick a side to cheer for as both clubs are rather easy to dislike.

I predict a convincing Real win here, lets see.

Well, not the most reliable media, but was mentioned on Talksport..

Thinking about it now it does make sense since they've been finishing below the top 4 for quite a while.

If it's true then the last time they were in the CL they had Fat Rafa, Gerrard, Alonso and Mascherano.

Why are people back Madrid to win and win heavily by some? They're so vulnerable to counters that I can't see PSG scoring less than 3 unless they have a mare in front of goal.

The last time Liverpool were in the CL was with Mr. Rogers and they were humiliated in the group stages. Lucky for Liverpool this year, they got a pony group so they got into the knockout stages (they even made hard work of that group and had to win their last group stage game to go through).

With Liverpool there is never a dull moment; they move at full speed from the start of the game so they can blitz you and capitulate all in the same game.

Ronaldo at left back is going to be a disaster.

If PSG's front 3 has an average game and Madrid's back 4 has an average game, PSG will score at least 2 goals tonight. Varane, Ramos and Marcelo will need to step up defensively

It's around this time that I am conditioned to expect an enjoyment in the form of an Arsenal humiliation, but it's gone this year and it's like a missing limb.

All the talk pre-game is going to be about Neymar, much to his dismay I think the talk post-game is going to be about Mbappe. From one shadow to another.

Which game to watch?

Do we reckon Porto have the chance to take Liverpool apart? Because the meltdown would be superb!

Ricardo Pereira had a great season at Nice and Alex Telles struggled at Galatasaray. Although Telles has impressed me more at Porto, i still think Ricardo Pereira is a superior player. Even so like i said in previous posts, Porto has better full backs than Liverpool.

Who is Lo Celso? Never heard of him. And why is Thiago Silva not playing?

Surely this can't be true?
