Champions League Round of 16 (13th Feb - 14th Mar)

You knew as soon as Vertonghen went to ground he would catch Costa, far too risky going to ground against a player with that pace.

Looked like a pen but the Juve player didn't go down when he should've.

Went down late, probably within his rights to do so, but the contact didn't cause him to fall IMV. Could have been a pen, as the two handball incidences in the Juve box previously.

What's the thought process here actually? If it's not a pen wouldn't he have to think it's a dive and book Costa?

Lol. Clear pen. The goal line assistants are worse than useless.

Crazy to go to ground like that against Costa who's rapid. Clear penalty.

What the hell!!! Easy pen call.

I’m well against VAR, just curious what would happen in that scenario, it’s a clear mistake , would var award the pen?

Would take half an hour, then they would award the pen, by which time the player taking it will be sufficiently disoriented enough to miss it.

Clearly a penalty.

I don't even understand the thinking of the referee.
Either he tought he got the ball, so it's a corner.
Or he did touch him, so it's a penalty.
Or he didn't touch him, so it's a dive and a yellow.

Wow....Tottenham got lucky there. That's either a penalty or a corner kick. The fact that they called a goal kick says that the defender didn't get the ball. I'm going for Tottenham here but that was brutal. What is the point of the assistant behind the goal if he's not going to call a foul that's right in front of him?

What's the official behind the goal looking at there?
I think he's just there to make sure each blade of grass is of equal length and is doing a fine job I must say. Didn't let a penalty claim distract him for a second.

Prince Harry will deliver. He always does.

My favourite player these days. Everything about him. His persona, attitude. His 4/10 looking wife.

Just a proper talented normal bloke. Rare these days.

Terrible tackle, little bit of contact, but I’m glad the red didn’t give it for that fecking theatrical dive about 2 seconds after contact.

There's tons of contact. Crap tackle, penalty every day.

Exactly what I was thinking. Absolutely brutal refereeing...

Wow spurs got away with that one. Higuain looks like he's been hanging around with luke shaw

Definitely penalty as he was clipped twice. Perhaps the player starting to sprawl a bit before contact distracted the officials?
