Champions League Quarter Finals | Chelsea vs Real (Tue) | Bayern vs City (Wed)

Not sure if it's instruction or the Napoli had the freedom to make their choice, but they blew it. Should have started crossing to Osimhen earlier in the game. Tried to hard to dribble or pass through Milan thick defense. That's dumb. You have one of the best scorer with the head at the moment and barely supply him all game.

Time keeping needs to be seriously looked at. 4 mins injury time. Napoli score 92+2, one booking. Ref blows on 94 mins dead on.

Yeah agreed. Kinda feels like the no nonsense +15 mins at the world cup wasn't that terrible of an idea.

Madrid's method of squad building is so much better than ours man.

Slightly expensive youth talents >>> "proven players" that cost 70m+

They save fees not having to buy these guys off of the likes of Dortmund, keep their wages down as they turn into stars, and ingrain the culture of the club from an early age.
It does of course help in this model that every single hot young talent wants to go to Madrid. We would be slightly disadvantaged in this strategy by the fact that every single hot young talent wants to go to Madrid.

Italian league is well down the list of leagues?

Eh? It’s not that bad ffs. The BT punditry is truly woeful. I feel my IQ just slipping away the more I listen to whatever sentences Owen tries to piece together.

tbf, it absolutely is.

15 minutes extra time in the Saudi Arabian league tonight.

Chelsea are probably the worst expensively assembled team I've ever seen, and there have been some real crap ones over the years (here in particular). God they're shite.

Why was Kvara taking the penalty when he has already missed 2 in the CL this season?

Unless Madrid have joined the EPL in the last 24 hours they won't be playing an English team in the final either.
Well we are the reigning PL champions and we'll defend our title against city!

Would it? Two teams so poor that real vs City basically becomes the final?
More so for the atmosphere/crowd/passion. I’m not talking about the whole draw.

Much better than the sterility of the Etihad.

 fecking hell.

4-0 loss, 4th in a row. Hammered in most parts of the pitch. Something to build upon I guess?
Perhaps trying to find the rock bottom level in the saying "once you hit rock bottom the only way is up"

They're going to do the treble this year aren't they?

fecking Arsenal.

Kvaratskhelia bottled it pretty hard. Not only the penalty but everything else. Awful shots and crosses all game.

nah, willy wonka was thinking he bought a baseball franchise instead of a soccer club

The ref blew up right on 4 mins even though almost a minute was wasted after the goal was scored.
Absolute joke. Should have been more than 4 minutes added on in the first place but that was very dodgy. Reminds me of the ref in the African Cup of Nations blowing after 80 odd minutes.

It robs the Napoli fans and the neutrals of one final attack and only benefits the cheating Milan players who wasted so much time after the goal. Refs just make it up as they go along and it makes football such an unfair sport. Every sport has cheats but football just seems to encourage it.

Most of the players have seemingly missed a penalty this season for Napoli

Napoli hype. They were already in the final if you had listened to people here when the draw was made. CL heritage >>>>

I'm going back quite a while but I remember when I was growing up there was a Milan inter semi final in 2003, and it was pretty shit iirc, then the worst ever final with milan-juve and that was back when the teams were actually good

Yeah, a Milan derby in a European semi final is fantastic.

Why? They're 4th and 5th in serie a and would be 5th and 6th without juventus' points deduction, would be much better having two teams that might actually be capable of beating city being there

Well it’s better than Benfica in a semi

Yeah, that's true it's the best option of whats left this year, but it's still not great that city basically just need to beat Madrid now to win the Cl

If Milan win the CL, Zlatan gets a medal or? If so, I’m AC Milan fan for the rest of this competition.

It's a bit overstated in my opinion. Sure Real have the biggest pull for South Americans in particular, but they are also one of the only big clubs that really pursues these players and are willing to pay big fees for them. They don't often pay big fees for "proven" players unless it's a true super star type, but they have no problem paying for Tchoumeini/Camavinga/Vinicius/ Endrick etc.

Meanwhile we'd rather shell out 80m for Maguire because he has PL experience, or Antony after a good Ajax season when we could have gotten him from Brazil for a less than a quarter of the fee just a couple of years before.
