Champions League Quarter Finals (5th - 13th Apr)

It is a hallmark of the best coached sides(city, liverpool, bayern, etc) that they turn 50/50 balls into 80/20 balls consistently. It's not even about intensity, they're simply better positioned for it

Fair point, I had been going to mention positioning as well but ended up leaving it out. I'm not sure why now. You need both imo.

As soon as I started watching videos of him he screamed Liverpool. Works his socks off, constant intense running threat in behind, stretches the pitch, quick, great technically…this stuff isn’t hard is it? We just make it seem so.

Why are we not after players like him and Jota, who's always getting winning goals for them. Slightly less glamorous players but so effective

But agreed, we seem to think football can be played by strolling round

Pass there you wanker

He's called Everton. No wonder he bottles it against dippers

City aren’t doing shit in this match 75% possession and one shot on target from a free kick.

Atletico's determination to not leave any spaces between midfield and defence is actually something I enjoy watching. No matter who gets pulled out of position, they always reorganise almost instantly and keep their shape.

It's not pretty, but it's quite refreshing to see after watching United continue leave ourselves wide open week after week.

Laporte's so good even his own country didn't want to cap him.

City won’t be too disappointed with a draw. Athletico will come out a bit more in the second leg.

City fans are booing their own players?

I haven’t seen a replay but the PL probably give them

This Atleti performance has almost been a throwback to when they had Garcia, Costa etc. They're now playing like they could potentially nick a goal tonight.

What player would want to play for ath Madrid. There the most boring team ever. There’s no excitement when watching them. Absolute awful. How we didn’t beat them I don’t know

Konate is panic stations in the second half.

Yeah I would hate to have to support this but every team could learn from them

Fantastic from Foden there. If you don't know why dribbling is important watch that goal.

Can we agree that defending is easier than attacking, and that when you can buy some of the most expensive players in the world and somehow have them buy in to your tactics, then you are not necessarily a tactical genius but definitely a very convincing leader.
I hate the way Atlético plays, besides when they beat Liverpool, but you have to give Simione some credit. There is no doubt who is the Boss

Why do I get annoyed when people put a "h" in "Athletico"?

I know they're doing it on purpose to be annoying but it still annoys me. You win, you bunch of chunts.

I always wondered, why does it bother people when some spell atletico as atheltico?

Love how these refs give free kicks based on reactions rather than the actual contact.

Kondogbia goes down holding his head/face/shoulder every time. Gets going in no time when the ref doesn't buy it.
